At least you dont have the Debacle that is the SPL.
No relegation in 2 years, no promotion either.
A compulsory 10 000 seater stadia for every club.
There are only like 3000 people in some of the towns that a few of the 1st division clubs play in.

Ok, guys, as it's Friday and we have a damn big game on Sunday, let's have some predictions.
Personally, I think the England v France game will be one of the following:
1) We will sneak it 2-1
2) We will get our assess chewed out.
Maybe, I am being a little negative - but we've been down this road too many times not to be!!
Any thoughts?
PS - COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John Terry has failed a fitness test and will miss England's Euro 2004 opener against France on Sunday.
His replacement will be either Ledley King or Jamie Carragher.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...and/3796799.stm
Personally, I think our defence will miss him. John Terry could well be the player to fill the England boots of the much missed Tony Adams.

A result likely to raise a few eyebrows. And to give Wun a chuckle.
Portugal 1 Greece 2Portugal made a nightmare start to their Euro 2004 campaign, suffering a shock defeat to unfancied Greece.
Greece stunned the Portuguese fans after six minutes when Georgios Karagounis pounced on a Paulo Ferreira mistake and unleashed a 25-yard strike. Angelos Basinas converted a penalty just after half-time to make it 2-0 following Cristiano Ronaldo's clumsy foul on Giourkas Seitaridis.
Ronaldo headed home late on but it was merely a consolation for the hosts.
Thousands of expectant home fans packed into Porto's Estadio do Dragao, but their team appeared hamstrung by nerves.

It's the England football team.
1-0 up, 4 minutes to play, and we give the French two goals.

Well that's just excellent!!!
Can't beat starting the week on a high!!!
Can someone please explain to me the logic in taking off Rooney for that large brick outhouse, otherwise known as Heskey?
All we needed to do was hold the ball up, however Heskey seemed to think one way of doing that was to foul just outside the box and gift a free kick.
Can't blame James for the penalty though, he really didn't have much of a choice.
Still guys, time for a bit of optimism here; we need to do well in the other two matches, but neither of those boys looked too impressive in their 0-0 game, so there is still hope.

To be honest, the true ones don't. For my part, my local was very well behaved; everyone just sat around disecting the game over a few beers.
The most important thing is that the behaviour of the England fans in Portugal has been excellent; a few arrests, but nothing like we have seen in the past.
My worry is what will happen if we self destruct in the next couple of games; at the moment we still have hope, if that goes then we could see some trouble.

It's a sad part of the game that annoys me, too, Ronin. It happens everywhere. Whenever one set of fans outnumber the other, there is usually booing over the other teams anthem. People should grow up and learn how to keep quiet for a few minutes.

Why is it that it seems in every match I have seen with England, whether the World Cup or Euro, England score a goal and then completely loose it. Meaning afterwards they don't keep up the pace, loose focus and slow down completely. It happened again last night when really England had a very good chance of winning if they had kept playing the way they did in the first half.

I think to be fair that we should take consolation in the fact that we held our own into injury time.
Zidane is not 'the World's greatest footballer' for nothing; we gifted him the chances and he took them.
The fact is that if Beckham had scored the penalty then we would have won, simple as that.
My only gripe is that we bought that lump Heskey on; someone like Joe Cole would have been better, he could have held the ball up, Heskey has trouble standing up!!
Cufflink
Jun 14 2004, 01:45 PM
I agree, Stamford. Beckham scores the penalty, French heads go down, we win.
And the fact that we held our own for almost 90 minutes against the French is both what makes our idiotic defeat so painful, and yet what also gives me hope for the next two matches. We played well, until Heskey (the man with a cauliflower arse) felt the urge to be a defender.

I think it sucks when you get a few idiots start something off then draw everyone around them into it.
A mate of mine was arrested last night because him and his girlfriend were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
One bloke(who was NOT a regular in the pub

)decided to start throwing glass bottles around. One just happened to hit my mates girlfriend on the back so he went mad.His girlfriend is pregnant so he just saw red,he hadn't been drinking either.
As for disresspecting your National Anthem Ronin6th,there is no excuse for that. Its just as bad when people start burning other countrys flags, its out of order.
Football will always have the image of violent fans,Englands being one of the worse.
I wish it wasn't like that, but it is.
