Australia has defeated Jamacia 5-0 in London in a friendly match as a warm-up before we have to play the fifth placed South american team for a place in thr World cup as we are still technically part of the Oceania soccer federation. We are joining the Asian soccer federation next year or the year after so that should make it fairer for us to qualify. It will also give us a whole lot more games to play as we get to play very few International matches allowing our ranking to rise as we aren`t too bad although we have a loooooonnnnnnggggggg way to go!

Hmm joining the Asian soccer federation?
Tough break dude, they ain't nothing to sneeze at.
China, Japan, Korea ( North and South) pretty hard competition.
Well maybe we'll see Australia in de WC, wish you the best.

Even Iraq did great in the Olympic tournament last year... yes.gif

Even the underdogs go through good patches.
Sofia Alexandra
You mean like when England won the Cup?

wink2.gif
Lestat34
Well just as the English team were thinking they can relax in tomorrows game against Poland have the pressure of now being told they will have to win against Poland and win next month against Argentina to stand any chance of being seeded for the world cup.

If they dont win the games and get seeded they will more likely be drawn in the same group with the likes of Brazil, Germany, France etc whereas being seeded they would'nt face these teams until the later stages of the world cup!

Come On England thumbsup.gif

Like when we defeated England over in London 2-1 against your full side around 2 years ago. We can actually beat some of the better side but never when it counts, when theres no pressure we come up trumps but sadly we just about always fall apart when it really matters.

Well we have only been in the Oceania federation before and the only other side that has ever given as any sort of competition was New zealand and I cat rememer us ever aactually losing to them. I look forward to having to go up against some of the real quality soccer sides, we may lose at first but eventually it will help us become a great team.

If rugby players put on pads, american football players would still smear rugby players into the mud and hurt cha. I think rugby is for a bunch of gay guys trying to find a reason to touch one another because rugby has no cordination nor any skill. It's like a big game of smear the queer ya'll buncha ninnies. ha ha ( don't take it personal, just my way of saying hi to members with a little humor )

Well maybe so, but this is STILL a thread about the game that's played with a properly round ball that's not to be picked up by any other hands than the goalies when in play.

huh.gif Whys he insulting rugby? meh who cares I hate the sport anyway.

Although the point about ummm...'smearing rugby players into the ground' kinda grinds. Most sumo wrestlers would grind american football stars into the ground. Does that mean it's the best sport around?

Nice try as a comeback, but sumo wrestlers don't 275lbs and run a 4.2 seconds in 40 meters. They're not that graceful. If there was any sumo wrestler that do so, they would have been drafted into American football. They wouldn't refuse the millions of dollars offerted to play, plus a few more million as a signing bonus, plus a few more million each year as a bonus to stay healthy for next season. There's a reason they get paid millions isn't there.
Oh and the part about skill-less football, takes much more than skills, takes brains, knowing the shift in the lines, play option pass, play option fakes, draws, there are over 100 plays that the players have to remember and how to run their routes. Each reciever knowing how many paces foward and then how many paces left or right to takes. See, the ball is usually thrown to the reciever before the reciever even finishes his route, so as he takes his last step and turns, the ball is there, leaving him vulnerable to be hit by defensive player, and yet he still holds on. I guess football is boring enough to be the largest most watched event world wide on Superbowl day, eh? Enough to charge 1 million dollars per second for commmercials that want to aire during halftime. ha ha
I turn rugby on when I need something to watch to fall asleep.

And I wouldn't expect an American to say anything different. Not meaning to completely stereotype, but it is true.

England 2-1.

Should have been 2-0 really.

"Most watched world wide"? Bollocks! I ain't never heard of loads of people outside the US watching that, only loads of people IN the US! And sure, that's a LOT of people, 'cos the US is a big country, but world wide? Not a chance!

That's the World Cup.

And now, will you PLEASE shut up about rugby and American "football"? Make your own bloody thread if you have to, just don't go snarking at eachother about it HERE!
Lestat34
Well said Sofia!!

Congrats to Sweden btw original.gif

ha ha ha....no sense of humor eh! World Cup?...that's funny....ah ha ha...It's more watched than the World cup. ..you probably don't watch do you?, doesn't mean that's true. I'm outta of here...I see how a bunch of manly rugby fans can get their panties in a bunch...LOL
jasibaby
ive seen rugby players bench 275 to 300 easy plus can 100 meters in 11 to 12 seconds try getting a linebacker to do that
Lestat34
Thanks for the info on Spain jasibaby original.gif

Shame about the republic of ireland i like to see them do well!!

Although I`m sure no one besides Aussie fans care about this Australia will be playing Uruguay who beat Argentina 1-0 to seal fifth place and a match between the top Oceanic side for a spot in the next world cup.
The first match will be held over in Uruguay with the second match to be held down under which will gives us the advantage we need.

Ok...someone needs to do there math.......you mean 100 yards. That's it? 275-300lbs benching ain't squat, fact is, plenty of NFL players bench twice that amount, and there's a few that can bench 650lbs. Heck, I remember in High school, some of the football players 16 years old benched 500lbs, hence the term 500 club, highschool varsity football. And remember that theses players weigh in at 275 lbs and over running 4.3 seconds in 40 yards, starting at a dead stop, in a 3 point stance. So a 275 pound player taking off for the 1st 10 yards in 1.3 seconds, and traveling 10 yards per second, your rugby players would be terrified and would look like midgets compared to the average 6'5" american players.
And on top of that, you would have to understand how a linebacker thinks and does, having to be the smartest defensive players, when to shift, read the coverage, calling out the offensive plays, reading the bluffs. Rugby sounds like primative football, before it got more coordinated.

Well Fifa actually gave Oceania one qualifying spot earlier this year but as South America lost the opportunity to have a fifth team go through they appealed and the decision was overturned. But as we are now joining the Asian federation its doesn`t really concern us anymore.
wunarmdscissor
well im gutted about scotlan but am proud of the boys though. the last 5 games have been an inspiration , one bad 45 mins , but since walter's taken over theyve been a different class.

humping the second seeds in the group 3-0 was no mean feat and our best away win for 12 YEARS.

anyway its back to club footie for me.

i go to the hearts game the morra and the 'tic can go top, i also managed to get a ticket for the cup game wi the scum (rangers) in november and that should be awesome , the tickets are golddust.

Even just from the website thanking you for taking the time?
