Eh, what?
Brazil are blatantly going to get to the semi's, probably win as well, I didn't make a quip.
This is assuming you were being sarcy.

I was being sarcy, as I thought you were insinuating that it was obvious that England would be there in the semi's with them.

Don't underestimate Croatia, they're friggin' good!
Lol we are quite aware of that. The Aussie side has a number of players(there were 8 in the 23-man squad that defeated Uruguay) with Croatian heritage, while the Croatian side has three aussie born players in its side. We have much insider knowledge as do they on us. It shall be a very entertaining match!
Croatia is already calling the match Croatia 1 vs Croatia 2!

No, I wasn saying that Brazil would definitely get there and probably win.
However, England will almost definitely get to the semis at least.

Very confident Mr Ed? I do hope your right. Might seem strange coming from a Welshman, but I would like to see it coming home to Britian. It would give us a better chance of hosting the World Cup ourselves, which would be good for the British Isles as a whole.

I wouldn't be so confident. In the leadup to the World Cup, Australia and Japan both have the Asian championship cup to play in, meaning a string of competitive games. Assuming there are no injuries, both teams should arrive at the world cup in peak physical condition and battle hardened for real competition.
Brazil and Croatia on the other hand only have a couple of friendlies to warm-up before hand. It does come down to injuries, but if the teams are fit, Brazil will be at a decided disadvantage.

^Indeed although I would be far more confident of beating Croatia who have said that Australia is nothing when they coudln`t even manage to defeat 123rd ranked Malta in a friendly. They only managed a draw.

Dec 12 2005, 12:39 PM
^Though i would like to see the stats for the match. Did the Croatian stars play? Were they injured? Were they trying out new team combinations or blooding new players?
I don't know the details of taht match, but i read the article in the news that you're talking about, and in my experience, the media only ever tells half the story. Granted, I do not think Croatia are as powerful as they were 10 years ago, but there's a reason they are 15th in the world

Even if a few of the Brazillians had broken legs, they would probably top the group.

As the newspaper said, you could go to any beach in brazil, randomly choose 11 guys, and probably have a world competitive team.
Don't forget though, last time Brazil played AUstralia, they lost 1-0 (confederation Cup 3rd place play-off I think it was, could be mistaken though).

That game wasn't a friendly, it was a qualification match for this World Cup. Croatia and Malta were in the same qualification group as Sweden, and the Swedish newspapers named that match the "Miracle on Malta" 'cos it meant Sweden wasn't all that far behind Croatia.

Dec 14 2005, 02:27 AM

I just read in the paper that Henrik Larsson's returning to Sweden after this season. So far no one knows if he'll be playing for his motherclub Högaborg in the third division, Helsingborg in the Swedish premier Allsvenskan or if he'll quit altogether, but I hope he goes to Helsingborg. Then I might get a chance to finally see him play.
