That may be so, but wasn't playing people out of position one of the big axes people had to grind with Sven?
Also when SWP is not even getting regular football in his favoured position I think it's very unlikely he'd perform in a posiion he used to play 5 years ago. Sol Campbell used to play up front but you wouldn't stick him up there with Rooney.
Seems pretty pointless to play him at rightback just because he plays for a big club when people like Rcihards, Young, Hibbert and Johnson are playing well there week in week out

do agree about not playing people out of position but just fancy him down the right side over lapping with lennon plus beckham & gerrard for center mid. the Arsenal are kicking some major ass at the moment we are going to take some stopping this season

Oh well, at least it wasn't a loss. Australia's lost it's killer instinct since the World Cup, I think *shrugs*
Not at all , first of all it was only a friendly, secondly we were up against one of the top South American teams who's defence is simply superb and 4 or 5 of our top players were out of the team, no Kewel or Viduka. Qualifying for the world cup and competing in the world cup is far more important than a friendly and will create a greater killer instict and passion in the players. Anyway we backed up this draw with an easy win against Bahrain to finish atop our pool in the Asian cup qualifiers. Just wait until the Asian cup rolls around and we have a full side out there, we will be a serious contender. We are after all the highest ranked asian team!

Actually it is not, Paraguay are currently ranked 21st in the world and drift from being the third highest ranking SA team to the Fifth. They qualified for the recent World cup and although are not in the same league as Brazil or Argentina at most times only recently defeated Argentina.

SWP better than Neville at right back, I don't think so. Garys one of the best in the Prem in that possition and he always gets down the wing.. Plus playing him there would be an awful deicision just because he used to play there.. If he were any good he would still play there now.

ha ha ha... behave yourself..... The only way Scotland or England will get their hands on a trophy is if they steal one. you people need to look at real International teams, teams that actually perform and come up with the goods.. BRAZIL.
By the way do you have a spell checker?
wunarmdscissor
Oct 25 2006, 10:38 PM
still doesnt change the fact that the only country from the british isles this year to get to a major eurpean final and win a trophy would be scotland , not england.
wether i can spell or not is irrelevant.
you all are completley ignorant of scottish football , its current climate and the future our club sides and national sides from youth to senior have.
i know english football as well as any english person ,(i also enjoy watching it , especially the many many many foreigners that are in your game in important positions )
almost every player in scottish football is now scottish.
a restraint at first which is now bearing much success, forced by economic restrictions (our clubs including the old firm are skint ) forcing scottish teams to play young scots , gaining experience at top level.
5 of the team which game the most impressive performance of the champions leage last week when celtic anhiliated and excellent benfica team were scottish , how many of arsenal's team were english?
one example
therein lies the difference we will never be above you in the rankings i suspect but we are goin to get VERY close in the next few years , simply there are 50 million english and 5 million scots mathematics imple as , but that wont matter if no young english players play for your top teams will it?
watch the new senior scotland team go , you will soon see a large influx of quality young scots entering the premiership ,IE: scott brown , kevin thompson and steven whittaker, add that to fletcher mcfadden and the old firm scots we have a very bright outlook
if our to under 19 teams played each other who would you bet on the scotland team who reached the final beating all but one of the top 5 under 19 european teams on the way or the english team who never made it. in the last yeart scotland senior and youth have beaten france in all three major age groups , senior , under 21 and under 19
france are number 2 in the world.

You get very angry about this, can't you just settle down. People have a right to their own opinion, and mine and jasons is that we don't think Scotland will do well in the upcoming tournaments and XSAS just likes to see skillful, exciting football.
True that most players in the scottish leagues are scottish, and that because all the best players from abroad see the Premiership and English football a bigger and better stage, or they would go to Scotland. They will further their career playing in England and every footballer out their will want to play at a big level.

I have to agree, Footballs full of surprises, and that surpised everyone. Also you said on the other page, Scotland will be higher than England in the World Rankins in 1 year, theres no way thats going to happen, Scotland haven't done anything in the big stages for a long time, I admit neither have England, but they get further than Scotland every time and that means we will stay above you, England would have to loose half of their first 11 and give them to Scotland for them to match England.

are we top of our group?
do we have a much tougher qualifying group than england?
have we gained more points than england so far?
all am saying is that before you write scotland off learn abou the playerd that we're putting out.

ok point taken , howvere if you are a brazil supporter than from an impartial side can you not see why scots , welsh and irish do generalise about the english (in terms of football of course) and the english media about how arrogant and dissmisive they are with regards to our leagues and national sides.
ill give you an example.
international week all the home sides played english were pumped by croatioa , wales won against cyprus , scotland beaten by ukraine and n.ireland draw with denmark.
35 minutes spent on englands defeat 5 on scotlands defeat to which gary linekars very first comment was "so have the wheels come off" bearing in mind we had previously just won three out of three before hand , this was the fourth game away to a team ranked 13th in the world and we only lost the game due to a dubious penalty and laughable sending off.
this considering england struggled against macedonia home and away and were absolultey slaughtered by croatia.
and the other home nations were given 5 minutes each as well.
And byu the way this was the BBC who i 6 million scots , 3 million welsh and 2 million n.irish all pay taxes for .

I see where you are coming from and like you hate the fact that they focus on where the money is.. (The England team) and sadly that is where the interest is, very few of that International squad have any pride when they put that shirt on.
Also another fact for you.. I have more Scottish blood in me than English and the last thing I was doing is have a go at th Scots... in fact I have a friend an Ex Marine he owns a pub on the Isle of Mull (we travel there all the time), he will not have an England game on during the World cup, he admits he fought for Queen and country but despices the England team and English football.
I explained that if Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales were all in the World cup and England were knocked out first.. many England fans would cheer on another UK team... "not me he said or any hardened Scots"..

Hence the comments about
American Football

For me, being Dutch (ok I live in Chicago now, but I'll always stay Dutch

No real reason behind it, I did not go there every week and as of that I am not "hooked" but I do like to keep track of them. Even now I am here in the States.

Come on, that;s an absurd statement and I'm pretty and I;m pretty sure you know it and are just fishing for a reaction.
I'll openly admit my knowledge of Scottish football is limited to the odd article in the paper and segment on sky sports news but even I can tell that based on current teams and form Celtic would easily stay up and be pushing for at least a UEFA cup spot, Rangers would be upper midtable and the likes of Hearts and Killie would be hanging around the bottom 5 or 6.
