How can I put this...We were cheated.
England scored a perfectly good winner, and the totally clueless wanker of a referee disallowed it.
Why have the footballing gods got it in for us? First Rooney goes off injured, then we have a winner disallowed. By the time the penalties came along, I'd already prepared myself for the inevitable.
I have no problem with the Portuguese, who didn't cheat us. It was that c**t of a referee, who should be barred from UEFA duties in future.
Ho hum. Anyway, it's good to see my old pals Disappointment and Injustice. Not seen that pair of scamps for...oooh, two years. Hi guys. |
Thanks for summing my feelings Cuffy, couldn't have put it better(mine would have been *** all over it and wouldn't have made good reading.

Poor old Sweden.

Like Wun, I wouldn't have minded seeing them go all the way. Penalties suck, and always leave the loser feeling cheated.
Still, a Holland/Czech Republic final would be good, if it gets close to matching their first meeting of the tournament.

Another crumb of comfort for we pissed off England fans.
Everton have confirmed Wayne Rooney will miss the start of the Premiership season after breaking a bone in his foot.
"Wayne has a cracked fifth metatarsal and should be treated with rest," said Everton physio Mick Rathbone.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/3837995.stmSo with just Owen up front, we were screwed, anyway. Unless a fairy godmother chanced by, and magically turned Heskey and Vassel into international strikers.

Got to say that in a way Im glad Sweden are out.The sweepstake we had running in my local didn't do too good,so everyone got their money back.
I opened my envelope and it was Sweden v Portugal.I would have been sooo gutted if both those teams had got into the final, seeing as the winner would have got £500.00.

Back to the Prem, and I bet there are some
very relieved Liverpool fans, after Steven Gerrard decided to stay loyal to his club (a rare thing these days), and stop at Anfield. However, he did have to think about it, and no wonder, with a £30 million deal rumoured to have been offered by Chelsea.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ool/3847081.stmIt would have been disaster for the red half of Liverpool had he gone, because Michael Owen had made it pretty clear, that if Gerrard was off, so was he.

I have to admit that, even though I am gutted Gerrard is not coming to Stamford Bridge, I am impressed by his loyalty to Liverpool; you are right Cuffy, such loyalty is a rare thing these days.
We seem to be struggling in our attempts to land any of the big boys at the mo; if this keeps up then I think Kenyon could be on his way out.

The shirt raffle is being drawn on finals night Cuffy, and I really do hope I win it.

I have heard the Rooney/Man United rumour, Freddy, but the reds get linked to lots of players in the off-season, so who can say? But in all honesty, considering how broke Everton are, if one of the Prem's big three (yourselves, Chelsea, and Arsenal) came in for him, with a bag full of cash, I reckon Everton would find it hard not to part with him. I did hear a quote, however, supposedly from Rooney, that he was staying at Everton for another season, to repay the club.
Stamford, I'm really surprised Chelsea are being snubbed by players. They have Europe's manager of the moment, a growing squad of stars, and a cheque book that seemingly knows no limits. As I said in the previous paragraph, I think two horses have become three, as far as the League is concerned.

"It's unbelievable how the referee ruled everything in favour of Portugal", said the man with a love for Old Trafford turf.
"He was a real home whistler, with every 50-50 situation going for them, but we cannot do anything about it."
Ruud later changed his mind, when he was shown a video of 100 of his best fake penalty claims. Okay, so I made this last bit up.

As Wun has pointed out, Henrik Larrson has left an enormous void that Celtic somehow have to fill.
According to the BBC's footie website, that man may be Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who is considering an offer from a Scottish Premier League club after being released by Chelsea.
Celtic - and not rivals Rangers - appear to be the ones who can match the Dutch striker's wage demands as well as guarantee Champions League football.
Is he the man? Good striker though he is, could he match Larrson's efforts for Celtic?

No offense to the Scots, but Jimmy would be very successful north of the border; even though he is somewhat past it in the Premiership, against some of the teams in the Scottish Prem he would have no problems (let's face it he slotted three past Wolves and they are probably on the same level as many of these teams).
I of course exclude Celtic from this Wun (before you declare war on me), but as he will be playing for you boys anyway it is irrelevant; I seem to remember you obtained an exremely overated player from us a few seasons ago and he did alright for your boys.

Perhaps this is why Greece has reached the final, because of their "German" style as you name it. Remember that Greece were the outsiders and played with very strong teams, therefore they had to become more defensive.

Euro 2004 soccer win floods street
`We've never made it this far before'

It was so loud, even the traffic police wore earplugs.
Thousands of people swarmed Danforth Ave. yesterday after Greece defeated the Czech Republic 1-0 in the Euro 2004 soccer match. Some popped fireworks, others blared horns to celebrate Greece's first appearance in the Euro final.
When the match ended, an overwhelmed Chris Dinadis fell to his knees in disbelief, and stayed that way for 10 minutes as shock turned to joy.
"It took some time to sink in," he said. "We've never made it this far before."
Police estimated that 5,000 people were taking part in the festivities, and the Danforth was closed between Pape Ave. and Chester St., letting the fans celebrate in the streets without having to contend with traffic.
