Alas, as I predicted, it's all going tits up.

Three defeats out of four now.

I know should Celtic beat Caledonian Thistle in the rearranged match the teams will be level again, but a thirteen goal advantage in the goals difference stakes says it all I'm afraid.

Major surgery needed in the summer, and I severely doubt that MON will be there to do it.

A safe goalkeeper rather than three clanger prone ones would be a start

Did u watch the game today , best performance of the season, its all comin together right now.

PAnic over the huns got fooked yesterday ha ha to them.

Have no fear my fellow tim we shall prevail.

When we go to castle grey skull we'll be at least 2 points clear and i think Rangers will get tehir arses felt in their own backyard.

Remember we're gods team lol ;-) , and no amount of help from crooked ibrox season ticket holder dodgy penalty awarding linesman will stop us.

I didn't see it, but a good result, and special thanks to Super Caley on Saturday (and no thanks to the biased linesman at Hearts a few days earlier).

I'd just like to go on record as wishing all the best to Milan, Chelsea, Arsenal and Leverkusen in this week's Champions League ties.

We'll never hear the last of it round here if the rags or the scouse reds win it, so be kind oh footballing gods. grin2.gif

Congratulations to Chelsea. What a game that was! Nice to see Ronaldinho have his words shoved right back down his throat too.

But for shear amusement, could there have been any finer sight than Roy Keane, with tears in his eyes after the game in Milan.

Pure poetry; and justice will dictate that the biggest thug in the game never gets to play in a Champions League Final. laugh.gif

An FA Cup final between bitter rivals Arsenal and Manchester United remains a possibility after the pair were kept apart in the semi-final draw.

The Gunners were first out of the hat and were drawn to face Mark Hughes' Blackburn Rovers.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side will take on Newcastle, who are looking to win the FA Cup for the first time in 50 years.

The semi-finals will be played on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

With Chelsea closing in on the Premiership title, both Arsenal and Manchester United will see the FA Cup as their best chance of silverware this season.

But the Old Trafford outfit must overcome the in-form Magpies, who have won seven successive matches.

If Arsenal take us lightly, they'll come a cropper
Blackburn assistant boss
Mark Bowen

Ferguson will come up against striker Alan Shearer, who they tried to sign earlier in his career and who is desperate to win a trophy with his hometown club before he retires at the end of the season.

Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd said he was desperate to see the Magpies avange a defeat by Manchester United in the 1999 FA Cup final.

"It's not the draw we wanted, but it won't have been the draw Manchester United wanted either," he told the Newcastle website.

"But there's no reason why we cannot beat them. We won't be frightened.

"We owe them one for the FA Cup final defeat in 1999 - so we'll look forward to this one."

I think it would be great if it was a Newcastle v Blackburn final

In the other semi, Arsenal face a Blackburn side who have struggled in the Premiership this season.

But Rovers assistant boss Mark Bowen warned the Gunners not to underestimate the opposition.

"We've never felt so wanted as we have in the last 24 hours," he said.

"Everybody wanted us, but we're going to show everybody that if Arsenal take us lightly then we're well prepared and they'll come a cropper.

"We're delighted with the draw and delighted to be in the semi-final with three of the biggest clubs in Europe."

As luck would have it, I was over in Huddersfield for the Rugby League, and it just so happened that I could fit in a nice visit to the Huddersfield Irish Centre to take in the game before moving onto ours.

Jeez, I didn't half quaff some beer during that second half. My nerves were shot to pieces.

Having said that Celtic were the only team in it for 35 minutes, and thoroughly deserved the eventual win.

No slip ups now hey? None of this Aberdeen and Hearts business. Let's get the job done before Motherwell, and give me another day of 'Hun baiting' via text messaging. laugh.gif

Just a warning guys...

In 2006 Germany is hosting the World Cup
Windows users are being warned not to open a virus that poses as a message from football body Fifa.

Some of the messages sent by virus say users have won tickets to the football tournament in 2006.

The variant seems to have caught a lot of people out because its release coincided with a mail out by Fifa telling fans about tickets.

Other messages sent by the bug contain fake warnings about passwords and messages not being delivered.

Net loss

The new variant of the Sober Windows worm appeared at 8pm on 2 May.

Like other versions of the Sober virus this one is bilingual and sends messages in both English and German.

Re:Registration Confirmation
Re:Your email was blocked
Re:mailing error
Re: [blank]
Messages in English warn about problems with passwords, e-mail going astray and registration confirmations.

In a bid to boost its spread, German language messages sent by the virus posed as messages from Fifa telling fans they had won tickets to the 2006 football tournament.

The tactic seems to have succeeded as many security companies said they were catching infected messages in large numbers.

Mikko Hyppoenen, head of anti-virus research at Finnish firm F-Secure, said it had seen reports from more than 30 countries hit by the virus.

WM-Ticket-Auslosung

Part of this success may be because on 2 May the World Cup organising committee sent out messages telling some fans that their application for team tickets had been successful.

In a message warning fans about the World Cup worm, Fifa said its ticket confirmations travelled without attachments.

By contrast the attachments on infected messages hold the virus code. Anyone opening these attachments will have their computer infected, their address book plundered and a back door into their machine opened for others to use.

The virus is likely to hit home users hardest because the variant was released into the wild late on Monday night and most company security systems would have updated overnight to protect users when they logged in on Tuesday.

Security firms urged users to update their anti-virus software, be vigilant and not to open unexpected e-mails bearing attachments. This variant of the Sober worm affects computers running Windows 2000, 95, 98, Me, NT, Server 2003 and XP.

The first Sober worm was seen in October 2003.

Congrats to all Arsenal fans who will read this.

Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd (aet)
Arsenal win 5-4 on penalties

Arsenal won a penalty shoot-out to lift the FA Cup after a final that was dominated by Manchester United.

Jens Lehmann made the crucial save from Paul Scholes as the destination of the trophy was decided on penalties for the first time in its history.

United were left empty-handed after Wayne Rooney hit the post and Freddie Ljungberg deflected Ruud van Nistelrooy's header on to the bar.

Jose Antonio Reyes was sent off before Patrick Vieira's deciding penalty.

United were in control for almost the entire match, but German goalkeeper Lehmann was in inspired form, saving brilliantly from Scholes in extra-time and then producing the stop that won the cup for Arsenal.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane were on the mark for United in the shoot-out, but Arsenal's spot-kicks were flawless.

Lauren, Ljungberg, Robin van Persie and Ashley Cole were on target before captain Vieira stepped forward to score.

United sprang two surprises in their starting line-up, with Roy Carroll preferred to Tim Howard in goal and Ryan Giggs left on the bench in favour of Darren Fletcher.

Arsenal selected Philippe Senderos ahead of Sol Campbell in central defence, and the youngster was quickly under pressure as United pressed.

Ronaldo escaped the attentions of Lauren on the left flank, and his cross found Scholes unmarked but his finish was uncharacteristically wayward.

Arsenal were leaving Dennis Bergkamp isolated up front, but the ploy was unsuccessful as the Gunners had little attacking joy in the opening half.

United had one early scare when Carroll dashed from his line and misjudged a long ball from Senderos, but Reyes was unable to take advantage.

Rio Ferdinand had the ball in the net after 21 minutes after Jens Lehmann blocked Rooney's drive with his legs, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Rooney then brought a fine save from Lehmann when he turned a stinging drive over the top after good work by Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Wayne Rooney takes a spectacular tumble

United dominated the early stages of the second half, with only a desperate tackle from Kolo Toure stopping Rooney before Ronaldo fired narrowly off target from 20 yards.

Ronaldo was tormenting Lauren, and eventually the Cameroon defender was booked after 61 minutes after a succession of fouls.

And it almost proved expensive as Ronaldo fired the resulting free-kick only inches over with Lehmann beaten.

Arsenal then had their best chance when United failed to clear a free-kick and Robert Pires shot over.

Wenger made a change after 64 minutes, replacing Bergkamp with Ljungberg.

Rooney came closest to breaking the deadlock with an audacious attempt to beat Lehmann at his near post, but Arsenal keeper recovered and got a slight touch on to the upright.

Van Nistelrooy was then inches away from connecting with Ronaldo's cross as United continued to dominate.

Keane had a glorious chance to win the cup for United with five minutes left when Lehmann misjudged Ronaldo's corner, but Partick Vieira provided a crucial block.

And seconds later Ljungberg miraculously cleared Van Nistelrooy's header off the line and up on to the bar as Arsenal hung on desperately.

Giggs came on for Fletcher at the start of the extra time - but it was Arsenal who finally posed their first serious threat seven minutes after the re-start.

Mikael Silvestre was harshly penalised for fouling substitute Robin van Perie, and the Dutch youngster forced a fine diving save out of Carroll from the free-kick.

Lehmann rescued Arsenal again when he blocked Scholes on the the turn, before Van Nistelrooy missed United's best chance, heading wide of an open goal from six yards.

As the game entered the dying seconds, Reyes was sent off for fouling Ronaldo having earlier been booked.

Then came the penalties - and the miss by Scholes that proved decisive.

Arsenal: Lehmann, Lauren, Toure, Senderos, Cole, Fabregas (Van Persie 86), Vieira, Silva, Pires (Edu 105),Bergkamp (Ljungberg 65), Reyes.

Not a Liverpool fan myself, but a lot of my mates are, and a few of them were over in Istanbul last night.

Simply unbelievable. I had started off sticking up for Milan, but by the time you had levelled at 3-3 there was only one team I wanted to win.

As soon as Dudek had pulled off that wonderful double save in extra time, I knew Liverpool were going to do it.

The greatest comeback in a game of such magnitude ever.

The best thing was, and still is, the amount of bitter Man Ure and Everton fans who just can't take it. Absolutely priceless.

middlesborough . ahh yes .

so what exactly have they won worth note.

the league cup, once. a mighty history.

rangers and Celtic both have long and proud historys, reaching european finals one more than one occasion and winning.

as recently as 2 years ago.

tell me , what have middlesborough achieved taht is comparable.

mediocrity pours from their very existence.

Celtic acheived 9 league titles in a row , during this they reached the european cup final twice winning it once, reached the semis on many occasions.

rangers during this period also won the Cup winners cup . im sorry but your ignorance regarding football is awe inspriring

i never claimed middlesbrough had a 'more distinguised history', rangers and celtic may have won a few cups back in the dark ages of european football but what are they today? the scottish league is mocked internationally, it's a joke which is my point, if you removed say 6 or 7 mid table premiership clubs (birmingham, villa, newcastle etc.) and put them in the SPL the dominance of the old firm would soon be over
In summary i'd match the mediocre of england against the best of the scotts anyday of the week

'dark ages'

ok so in the last 4 years when celtic have reached the UEFA cup final AND performed admirably in the European cup beating the likes of

Liverpool, Barcelona, Blackburn, Lyon, Ajax, Juventus, Boavista, Porto, Stuttgart.

what do u call them?

Flukes?

2003 Celtic reached the Uefa cup final , narrowly beatin by the 2004 champions league winners.

Come on what did middlesborough do even as recently as this year in europe?

what have middlesborough EVER done?

not a bloody lot.

Only Chelsea and Liverpool Performed to any decent standard this year in europe , and unlike you i congratulate Liverpool on tehir achievment.

im not bitter nor ignorant of football.

Care to list any acheivements?
wunarmdscissor
in the 2004 european cup we were narrowly pipped by one goal from reaching the latter stages of the champions league by lyon the semi finalists.

and your comments that the mediocre teams in england would rule scotland is a joke.

For a start theyd be on the same budget. The type of budget that got Celtic to the UEFA cup final , which was a fraction of the English teams they pumped.

Apart from the major teams , if we had the same budget as your teams we'd easily compete, rangers and Celtic are so far bigger than your mediocre clubs with worldwide supports equal to liverpool and Man U.

i mean testimonial after losing the league and 60 000 celtic fans attend , including myself., two weeks ago.

dedication middlesborough could only dream about.
