I remember seeing that TV special with the scarred old Man in Haiti that the People of His Village said was a Zombie. As I remember they even showed His grave.

They use drugs to induce a mild coma for some and something different for paralysis for others from what I recall. I assume that since this is risky business that the practioners who used these methods often killed more people than they produced zombies in their attempts.

A 'real' Zombie is extremely different from a Hollywood Zombie.
There is no such thing as the Undead, that is an impossibility.

I agree, the movie zombie is a work of fiction, I also recall hearing something like Bella-Angelique posted about drug induced coma. But then again, if your not really dead....well, you get my point.

You are right on Bella. They use Curare to induce paralysis and a coctail of drugs to bring the heart rate and respiration so low that the person appears dead. Vodoo practitioners believe that when the person wakes from the induced coma they are there slaves and through the power of suggestion, the person who was drugged believe it too no.gif

So really there are no zombies from the definition view point. Does anybody know the "proper" name for those who have been a victim of these drugs?

Well the term zombie comes from the voodoo practice: According to the tenets of Vodou, a dead person can be revived by a bokor or black magician. Zombies remain under the control of the bokor since they have no will of their own. "Zombi" is also another name of the voodoo snake god Damballah Wedo, of Niger-Congo origin; it is akin to the Kongo word nzambi, which means "god."
