Seriously, we would prefer if you use the term cryptid. Mythical creatuture implies it is physically impossible.
For me, it would have to be devided into several catagories.
Hominid: Yeti:

Mammal: Thylacine:

Reptile or Amphibian: Tatzelwurm:

Water mammal: Megophias, AKA Pinniped Pleisiosaur:

Fish: Giant eel:

The traditional Chinese dragon, which symbolizes strength, cunning, intelligence, and good fortune- what's not to like?

I have so many favorites ,but probably my favorite would have to be pegasus(the winged horse). Did you know that pegasus was poseidon's and medusa's offspring(pegasus came from poseidon and medusa)
medusa had snakes for hair and was a winged woman.
posiedon is the Lord of the sea and also god of earthquakes and of horses. Also is a son of the titans.

Another one of my favorites is Typhon. Typhon was a gigantic winged monster that was part man and part beast. Typhon was also taller than the tallest mountain. Under Typhon's arms there was a hundred dragon-heads. Below his thighs were the massive coils of vipers. Typhon was a terribly horrifying sight and was deadly since flame would gush from his mouth.Typhon was an offspring of Gaea ("Earth") and Tartarus. he fathered eight other creatures( Cerberus, Chimaera, Orthus, the Hydra, Nemean Lion, Sphinx, Caucasian Eagle, Crommyonian Sow) and vultures
Tartarus -personification of the darkest and deepest region of the Underworld. This is the region where Uranus had thrown the Hundred-Handed and the Cyclopes. Later this was where Cronus and other Titans, who had opposed Zeus, were imprisoned and guarded by the Hundred-Handed.

Yes, we all know that. But it actually means "Animals not accepted by most science", not "Animals that can't exist because of nature's laws." Take pegasus for example. It's a six-limbed horse! Physically impossible unless it's an extremely large and odd-looking furred and feathered insect.

Sauruman isn't generally very strict about that sort of thing. If anything, it'll get moved.

And besides this is a more interesting discussion then explaining for the 30th time that Vampires/Werewolves/Pink Elephants are not real.
Oh and the Best Greek Myth were the Muses. Seriously interesting stuff
