I cannot believe that I am starting a topic in this section. Maybe its in the wrong place and will be moved...

Anyway something is worrying me slightly. Recently (probably due to the dark mornings) I have found it difficult to wake up, I tend to lie in bed and quite often drift back to sleep.

Now over the last fortnight something odd has happened three or four times, I'm kind of dreaming, but I suppose you'd call it lucid dreaming as I'm fully aware of what is happening isn't real. Infact, I don't even consider myself to be properly asleep at the time. (Does that even make sense?)

So this is my account of the first time this thing happens:

I'm having this (sort of) dream that I'm jogging along the road I usually run down when I'm awake. I can see really clearly my feet and the ground, and as I'm running I can actually FEEl my feet moving, I become convinced that my feet and legs are really moving. (Baring in mind I know this is a dream, and a part of me is fully aware that there is no way my legs are moving, cos I'd hit the wall)

So I stop running, and I lie there, now awake, trying to figure out what on Earth that was about when the weird thing happens.

My body feels like it has pins and needles. ALL OVER IT. Its actually kind of vibrating and buzzing, I can't move, and I'm torn between not wanting to move anyway cos this new sensation is just so odd, and being terrified that i've got some disease which paralyses you.

Eventually the fear wins and I somehow force myself to jolt upright, I feel really spaced and wobbily and generally weird.

Now this keeps happening, the buzzing and pins and needles sensation, and always just after I have a really vivid dream involving parts of me moving. (Last time it was a dream that I was climbing up a ladder)

So Am I going mad? Is this something scientific? Or do I need to rethink my views on the paranormal?

I have these experiences as well. Sometimes it feels as if I can allow my self to slip deeper into this state, but fear always prevents me from doing so. The best way I can describe this state is "being concious that I'm unconcious"

The closest explaination I've found for these experiences is Sleep Paralysis

When I was younger these experiences scared me alot, today I rather enjoy them.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that, It's certainly interesting.

I've heard of Sleep paralysis, before, but how about the buzzing and pins and needles sensation? That is the bit which has freaked me out.

Here's a place that will allow you to discuss your issue further.

i would have to think its astral projection. Usually bad things can happen in this "dream" ask a guy named socrates about it on here. he knows all about it.his picture has a blue eye on it.But on the other hand it probably is sleep paralysis. Cuz i dont think astral projection gives you pain after youre done. Someone i knew had SP and he just had to sit ther until the pain was over.

The buzzing could be considered astral projection. I remember once while I was sleeping/not sleeping (kind of a weird conscious but not conscious state like you described), I felt off kilter, and I heard this weird noise. I looked to my side and saw a big white cat (don't ask me.. lol). Then, things seemed to shift, and I was normal again and my eyes snapped open. The cat was gone (again, lol). I told my friend of this and she was convinced that it was astral projection and had referred me to one of Sylvia Browne's books (didn't read it, and can't remember the name, sorry, but I'm sure you could google it if you want). My friend believed that the cat was actually a "spirit kitty". I don't know if I believe that or not. She said the sound was because I was trying to "reenter" my body, but I went in wrong or something and wasn't "aligned". I don't know.

Anyway, I also had a few episodes of "sleep paralysis" when I was living at one place that I believed to be active, in a paranormal sense (never happened anywhere else), and those were coupled with seeing this man-like form at the foot of my bed, and I couldn't move at all or make a sound, until somehow I was able to "snap out of it". Was freaky and scary, especially when the "man" swiped at the foot of my bed and started to approach me with a menacing glare. For some reason, unkown to me, I always referred to him as Mr. Black (the name popped into my head the first time I "saw" him). I felt that he meant me harm. Don't know if it was dream or something else, but it scared me. I never had that pins and needles feeling, though.

The reason why I mentioned astral projection, is because of you jogging down the street that you usually run down in your dream/undream. I'm not sure about sleep paralysis, but I was under the impression (and I could be wrong, have been before), that sleep paralysis is usually combined with a dream (or vision or feeling) of something in the room with you, not really a dream of being somewhere else. Then again, I'm no expert either.

I do know that there was a correlation between sleep paralysis and "old hag syndrome".

Could it be possible you were experiencing both silmutaneously? Perplexing. Sorry I couldn't offer any real help.

Welcome to the world of SP..the buzing and sensations can go hand in hand with that yes.gif

Very lucid dreaming along with SP thumbsup.gif

Some more useful information. It is wonderful that people can write a question and get nice and understanding answers. original.gif

^^ You're right Rollingthunder, It is nice.

Thanks everyone, like I said before, I do know a bit about SP but I never realised that the buzzing was a part of it. thumbsup.gif

So, how do I stop it? It's not exactly scary anymore, but it is an unpleasant feeling
