I've often wondered why some ghosts appear transparent when sighted and others, such as the famous Roman soldiers in York, appear completely solid. The same has happened in ghost photos, some spirits, such as the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall, appear very transparent, when others, such as the figure on the Tulip Staircase, or the woman in the back of the car, aren't transparent at all.
I've seen another photo, I know it's on at least one website showing a figure that is possibly a ghostly priest dressed in white with his back to the altar, and this figure is semi-transparent.
It seems interesting that so many ghost photos have been taken in churches. There is a really creepy one taken in the cathedral dedicated to Joan of Arc- the picture was taken in the 1920s by an upper-class Englishwoman who had gone with her aristocrat friend to hang a flag in memory of British soldiers killed in the First World War. The photgrapher stood at the altar, taking a picture of her friend standing in the aisle under the flag- when the image was developed two very solid-looking medieval preists are standing beind her! Even their 14th Century hairstyles can be made out.

So the hunt is on for the pic, it does sound interesting... I'll have a wee look around myself.
As for transparancy, I feel it's to do with the energy available and conditions, whether it's residual or not.

A hair-style can be made out in a camera made before World War I time, I would love to see this.

I agree, there could be MANY mitigating factors that could come into play.....We really know so little about the paranormal even after all the research that has been done to this point.

I have looked up and down, left and right, for this photo and I can't turn up a thing.

I wasn't aware of this at first- only two sites appear to have the photo. The best site is www.nzghosts.co.nz/church_ghosts-this is a direct link to the photo. If you look carefully, you can make out the priests' hairstyles- they look distictly medeival.

I can't tell anything from that picture either. I'm not even sure if it's the right one.
Can someone enlarge it?

Looks like a fireman to me, but the helmet shape head is that what you mean by a medeival haircut?

Looks like a couple of priests standing next to a light fixture of some sort....very "grainy"....hard to make-out anything else.

The bowl on the head figure is the woman with a hat on her head. The 2 off to the left are supposed to be the medieval priests. ??

What does anyone else think of the medeival priests? This photo has always seemed creepy as the ghosts are standing next to a person, which I've not seen in many ghost photos, especially in those taken in churches. The photo has never appeared very clear, although I can make out the priests' hairstyles.

Ok so it's comfirmed we are looking at the right pic?
Personally, I don't think the fireman/or whatever with the bowl cut is a person. I think its just an illusion of fittings.
The priest looks kind of bald to me, I can't see enough detail to see what hairstyle he is sporting.
The weird figure behind him is a mystery but it could be someone sitting in the distance ( head looks too small to be right behind the priest)

Don't you think the two figures next to the woman in the hat look ghostly? They have always seemed quite creepy to me and their clothes seem medeival. I've looked on the Internet and the Basilica of Domremy is said to be haunted by Joan of Arc, but doesn't mention any other ghosts.

That's a woman with a hat on according to the pic description. The 'ghosts' are the two to the left.

Well Matt.... I think that the ones that appear transparent are beings on Infrared or Visible Light levels and they have to focus and concentrate to appear to us in the physical.
But what I think is trippy about the "solid" ones... quantum physics says all time exists simultaneously and that all parallel realities exist now. I think that it could possibly be that somehow these other parallel realities are bleeding-through to this one... by some means there's more "blending" of past, present and future, and more "phenomenon" energies from higher-frequency realities...
So the digital photos could sometimes be snapping shots at a moment when a parallel reality is "bleeding through"...
This is my first post.. I hope it actually posts
