Researcher Heidi Hollis has discussed shadow beings numerous times during her radio interviews. But there is another phenomenon that appears to be somewhat new.

There have been increasing sightings of a man in a fedora hat and trenchcoat and suit ,commonly dubbed The Hat Man, that appears to people not only while theyre in bed but in other locations also.

A year ago I heard the account of one man that said he had returned home to find his backroom totally in disarray. Surprisingly, he found his copy of the Necronomicon¯ thrown on the floor and opened. Frightened, he turned away and proceeded to walk down the hall to the front door. He heard someone following him and when he turned around he saw a man wearing a fedora hat and wearing a trenchcoat.

After hearing this story, I thought nothing of it except that perhaps it was someones wild imagination. Maybe they had associated the Necronomicon with some type of invisible force. Until I heard Heidi Hollis a year later discussing these same types of sightings.

According to the witnesses, the man doesnt have any type of facial expression; it just stares at the person. Here is what Heidi has to say about the Hat Man:

This is a form that can be taken by the Shadows to look very much like a man in a black hat. This man appeared at a former roommate's bedside in the middle of the night. She could clearly see he had on a long, black trench coat of some sort.

Upon seeing this Shadow, she screamed and he did nothing but continue to stare at her. She screamed again, and he still remained. So she continued to scream at the top of her lungs, and I having the room next to hers, ran to see what the problem was for her to keep screaming like that.

She said usually the Shadows will disappear or leave once they see she's noticed them. But this Shadow-man didn't seem to care, and was more focused on intimidating her. The figure disappeared shortly before I came running into her room so I didn't get to see this guy.

¯I've had other friends who have seen this man in other situations and have been given many accounts about him popping up all over the place. He truly should be in a category of his own, and there will be more info to come about experiences concerning him.

Who is this Man¯? A demon? A ghost? An interdimensional entity who enjoys terrifying people?

Welcome to UM! This is a very interesting topic. Remember seeing just a few pictures of this type shadow ghost and reading some stories. Have seen only one and that was enough.
I don't think that just by this one story all hat shadows are set out to intimidate people. They are stories of "regular" ghosts doing the same thing. What interest me is the wearing of the hat and trench coat. Is it possible that by some means they do belong to a special class of shadow people?

Very cool. I have heard of these shadow people in hats before, whether here on UM or elsewhere. I know there are some pics floating around out there...I'll have to check up on this topic. thumbsup.gif

Yeah, my wife had one follow her for awhile. Finally, she stopped and confronted him. He very sllllllowwwwwlllllllllyyyyyy opened his trenchcoat and showed her what was underneath. heheh

Actually, I don't see the significance of this. Not to diss your experience or anything, but haints come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, not to mention attire. Maybe the thing's a Bogie fan. Or maybe I hit on it earlier and it likes to flash folks. Maybe it's one of the Men in Black.

Remember, don't trust anybody and the truth is out there.

Just sounds like Dick Tracy to me. It seems a bit too usual to be paranormal. Does that make sense?

Lol yes coldethyl, that does make sense. I, including Heidi Hollis, think that there is something sinister about this Hat Man. There's even been speculation that he could be "The Big Man downstairs" if you know what I mean. ohmy.gif

By the way, is that a real photo of you on your posts? Just curious. original.gif

Hi RollingThunder, and thank you for the welcome. :-) There have also been some reports of shadow rodents. I think you may be familiar with Coast to Coast AM's radio talk show host George Noory. He has reported seeing these shadow rodents. They looked like aardvarks and seemed to be scurrying around.

In fact, he had seen these continually for a week every time he passed either a certain place on a road or the freeway. After that time, he no longer saw them. Since I am a believer in Ultradimensional entities, I think for some of these they are partially appearing from another dimension and then disappearing.

It's the same with ghosts. They are in a dimension in which the molecular frequency is much faster than that of our physical dimension. That is why they appear the way they do.

I agree; this is a very interesting topic.

Lol Hi kidd, I'm a newbie here. You must be the funny one on the forum. I like a person with a sense of humor. :-) Yeah, I've thought about it being one of the Men in Black too, like you mentioned. I really think we'll have to have to examine more reports before we can know for sure, if ever, what this apparition is.

Oh he// no I'm not funny! I'm not the funny one here! I'm completely straight...

~nervous chuckle~

All kidding aside, I didn't even look at your numbers. I don't post a lot myself so it doesn't matter to me how long somebody's been on. Just telling it straight-up with a bit of cheap-shot humor addded. When there's an opening, yuh just gotta take it. original.gif

You mean the devil? Why would he dress like Humphrey Bogart? If I were the devil I'd dress like Dracula. Old school all the way.

And do you mean my avatar and sig picture? That's Alice Cooper in my siggy and avatar and I'm a girlie. thumbsup.gif

I have to admit, when I first saw this topic, the first thing that came to my mind was "I know a certain cat that isn't going to be happy that his hat is missing". After reading this topic, I must say that I have never heard of this "phenomenon" before..........

I suppose it's prudent to leave no stone unturned....but that's a bit of a stretch.

If I were the devil or a demon, I'd want to dress in a way that wouldn't frighten anyone at first so I could get closer to them, maybe have a little chat with them, but get real close at any rate. I think the "guy downstairs" is intelligent and I think he knows this.

Well-known demonologist Lou Gentile says he had an encounter with a very similar entity and what he had to say to Lou strongly suggests he was of a diabolical nature.

Some ppl laugh at this but shadow ppl are real. I only know that because I have seen one in my parents house. No hat or coat, just a shadow of some one walking down the hallway, when no one was. Its been discussed on a radio show called Coast to Coast am many times. They don't know weather it is a ghost or just another dimension bleeding through to ours..but it is real.
