The question I'm asking: Would humanity as a whole grow arrogant after watching movies and playing games like these where we defeat countless alien civilisations, and be unprepared when a real alien invasion occurs, thinking that we're the superior species in this arm of the galaxy?

I would like to add "Earth vs. The Flying Saucers." You will find Major Donald Keyhoe's name in that movie as well. He was the guy who was cut off during a "Live" television program on January 22, 1958 known as the "CBS Circle Star Theater." He was revealing important informaton on UFOs when he was cut off by the CBS censors. The cameras continued rolling as Air Force officers watched but the sound was cut so the TV audience couldn't hear the rest of the story.

I have often seen where skeptics claimed the typical alien being depicted today was the result of an 'Outer Limit's' episode on February 10, 1964, but the photo shows that they were wrong, especially since the movie was first shown during the 1950's.

Well to answer the question no. You assume other alien races have the resources, technology (and that's assuming they have ships that can travel faster then the speed of light because anything slower is just not worth it) and military tactics to conquer earth.

what about Destroy all humans, that game is aliens killing humans.

With that said and done, Red Dwarf is just plain awsome and I miss it immensly.

I don't think in any case we could defeat an advanced aline species...

Games, movies, books and TV all in my opinion are understatements to what a species thousands if not millions of years ahead of us could do. It is likely they have weapons so advanced that we can't even speculate how they work. An advanced alien race that had the ability to travel here from a distant star or galaxy would likely wip us out like we would swat a fly. I figure if an alien race wanted to genocide us they could do so without us even realizing what is happening. Perhaps their technology is so advance that they simply rip open a black hole near earth and destry us within a blink of an eye. Or perhaps they could destroy the magnetic field around earth which would result in our atmoshper being cooked off.

The media is great and alien movies are fun etc. But really in my opinion not realistic there is no way we would have a chance the only thing we could do in this situation would be to die.

Dark City was a movie about this race of aliens that had lost their ability to reproduce. They abducted humans and brought them to this city that was eternally night, because sunlight hurt them. At midnight everynight they would knock every human out with their psionic powers and switch people's memories around so everyone would take on someone else's life. They used the corpses of dead humans to move around the city. Their goal was to determine what the human soul was because they lacked one, being that they were of one collective mind.

i think germ warfare would be a good but harsh defence againsed alien forses.
