I don't usually post this kind of thing but this question is haunting me....In the 21st century and in this day and age.....no "black person" wants to be referred to as a "colored person"....not a Negro...not a Negre...not a Colored Person and not a Black.....so Why in the hell is Mr. King...The spokesman for the NAACP for New Orleans lashing out against Harry Lee for trying to stop the "black on black" killings in N.O.? Even the neighborhoods are all for this but NOT the NAACP....Why don't they just change it to the NAAAA...National Association for the Advancement of African Americans???? Did he forget...he his quest for a "betterment" for his brothers that "HE" is the one still calling them "colored people"......I'd love to see an NAAWP.....But I'm just a white girl dreaming..........

Your thoughts please

Rascim against whom?

Are you calling me a racist? I hope not....this is reverse discrimination...This is BS

I actually agree. NAACP is actually pretty racist. It's a common myth in America that only white people can be racist when really that's not true at all.

Heh, if anybody made a NAAWP they would be labeled racist on the spot. If we had white history month, we'd be racists. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists. If we had WET(White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists. A white person cannot be proud of their blood or skin, but any other race can be. rolleyes.gif

It's just hypocrisy and it drives me nuts.
justcallmefox
Kratos, you do have a point there, and I'd just like to point out that a white supremacist group that I can't remember the name of actually does have a NAAWP.
Episteme
Well, I'm white (honkey -can I say that?, caucasian, I could care less what you call it!!), and I've had alot of friends of different color. Most have told me they prefer the term "black" as it's easier to say than "african american" and appropriately contrasts the commonly used term "white".

Also, it's not "reverse discrimination" or "reverse racism". Those terms can only be used appropriately to describe giving special favors because of race. If I understand you correctly, you just mean discrimination, coming from any race it's just plain discrimination - minority or not. Sorry I had to say something, it's a term constantly used innapropriately and for some reason it grinds at me. blush.gif

Gawd, I know... It's the KKK. rolleyes.gif I'm talking more so of a group that doesn't hate. Though that group is self-proclaimed and isn't supported by many people at all.

I must agree with you. One quick question, why is there no HET (Hispanic Entertainment television), NET (Native american entertainment television) AET (Asian entertainment television), and so on? I have been sitting here ten min trying to think of a tactful way to say more, but it just seems to come out all wrong no matter what I type, so I better leave it at that.

I remember seeing an episode of Montel once waaay back in the day. And there was a guy on there talking about African Americans committing a proportionately higher amount of crime. And Montel went bezerk. He got up in this man's face like Louis Gosset Junior in that Richard Gere movie and was screaming about an inch away from the man's face saying "I told you not to bring up those statistics, they prove nothing besides most of those crimes are black on black crime!"

And I was like? WTF? So it doesn't count if its black on black?

I don't get it either. I don't get why we can't say the truth because its racist. I don't also get why when a black person beats up a white person or shoots a white person, its called a "mugging" or a "shooting" but when a white person does the same its called a "hate crime"

BTW

When you say "reverse racism" you show that you are very ignorant in the topic of racism. I don't say this to be rude or critical its just that if you want to be taken seriously don't use that phrase.
girty1600
While I don't consider those that use the term "reverse racism" idiots or ignorant or whatever I do think there is a more accurate phrase to describe the concept. I call it "discrimination by default".

When a company chooses not to or cannot hire a white male because they must fill mandatory quotas with people from selected ethnic, gender or capability groups the qualified person passed over for the job is a victim of discrimination by default.

There are plenty of examples that I won't go into but I think you can get the gist of what I mean.

It doesn't really matter what you call it; its still happening every day.

It is called affirmative action, and should go out the window. They should hire on qualifications instead of the color of your skin and gender. Period!!!!

(Not directed at, just an easy quote)
You know something's wrong when people are unable to post freely for fear of accidentally letting a comment slip out that could be interpreted as being racist.

Lots of my relatives work in the emergency services and for the last year or two they've said that the standard of the workforce is beginning to drop because of this alone; less able people are allowed to take the jobs that would otherwise be going to more qualified employees, to satisfy the quota.

I think that's bad enough in any line of work, but when lives are on the line it's overstepping the mark.

Beats me why there isn't. tongue.gif More so on the Hispanic side because they're the second largest group in the US now.

I'm just saying if there was ever a WET channel brought up, it would be labeled racist right away. hmm.gif

You'd think that would be best. There have been even lawsuits and complaints filed over job requirements being racist, so they're either dropped or lowered. It really doesn't make any sense to let a less qualified person get the job over a qualified or more qualified person based on the color of their skin. wacko.gif
