The music building at Gonzaga University has a long history of paranormal activity.
The building was once a mansion, built in late 1800s or early 1900s. Many years ago, it was given to the university.
Has anyone heard anything of this building, or have new paranormal experiences to relate?
Here are mine:
Back in the late 1960s or early 1970s, an exorcism was performed there.
I was a security guard at Gonzaga in 1979 and have my own strange tales of the building.
Reporting to work in the late afternoon, my supervisor, Karen, said that the Music Building was found the previous night with all its lights on and windows open.
Despite my protests that my partner and I had locked it at midnight the night before, Karen obviously didn't beleve me.
My partner, I'll call him Paul, locked the building again that night.
No problems were encountered for a few weeks, then it was found wide open again.
During my time as a Gonzaga security guard, the Music Building had its locks changed at least twice, as I recall, perhaps three times.
One night, Paul and I drove by the building about 2 a.m. and noticed all the lights on and windows open. Again, we went in and locked it up, after turning off all the lights.
One night, while securing the building, Paul and I were in the attic, which had been converted into the choir practice area. Four offices, with a short hallway had been added in the attic (this mansion is rather large, so there's plenty of room).
I walked past an old, wooden blackboard on wheels as I went to check the offices down the short hallway.
Just as I reached for an office doorknob, something bumped me in the back.
"Very funny, Paul!" I shouted without turning around.
"What?" came Paul's distant voice. I turned around and he was standing 30 or more feet from me.
The blackboard had somehow moved down the hallway and bumped me in the back.
Now, get this ...
Paul and I tried every way to duplicate that blackboard moving naturally. It was very old, with squeaky, worn rubber wheels. If it had rolled up behind me, I would certainly have heard it.
But I heard nothing!
My conclusion? It was somehow lifted a few inches off the floor and floated into my back, where it quickly settled down without my notice.
There is absolutely NO way that blackboard could have moved across that old, hardwood floor without being heard.
My partner, Paul, was quite bothered when I told him what had just happened. We were both recent veterans of military service and not easily rattled. However, Paul was eager to leave that building right away!
When I left Gonzaga University, the building seemed to have settled down a bit. At least, it wasn't be found wide open with all the lights on. Perhaps that problem resumed after I left, I don't know.
Anyway, anyone out there have any stories about the music building at Gonzaga University in Spokane, or any other Spokane hauntings? I'd be interested to hear them.
