Just wondering if Final Fantasy XI is worth paying for? I am a huge fan of the FF series and I love everything about the games. Right down to the music, the art style, the voice acting, combat, etc...

A while back, I purchased FFXI and was going to play it. Come to find out, my PC could not handle it. So, I ended up selling the game. Now, I have a better PC which is fit enough for gaming, and I've been searching high and low for a good MMORPG to play, but failed so far... I think FFXI just might be the game for me.

What is everyone's opinion on FFXI? Should I buy it? How much is it a month? I think it's around $12.
Super Pancake
It was not worth it since FF VI.

What do you mean "since FF VI"? Since final fantasy 6? What about it?
Chokmah
yeah I used to play FF11, till it decided to hate my new card and wouldn't accept it crying.gif

but yeah, it's a fun game, some things are ridiculasly hard and gilsellers make it harder (camping NM's for rare drops - notorious monsters)

it was - for me - hard to make money, luckily my friend helped me out at the start for armour and weapons. also the monthly charge is the same as WoW, or should be.
ShaunZero
Oh God, I always have problems with credit cards. I hope it doesn't do the same to me. -_-

- Do they have guilds?
- What type of PVP features do they have?
- Is it hard to level?
- How much is it month, and is it really $5 to make a new character after your first?

- they kinda of have guilds, like each country houses a certain race (like hume - bastok. but you can make your country anywhere from the 4 countries) they also have linkshells, (you can belong to many if you want) which let you talk to other people holding the same type of linkshell. These let you do certain missions together as it helps you all out a lot.

- they do, but I never played in it. It's a country v country fight though, for control.

- no it's easy to level, just it takes longer each time you level, you'll reach 50,000exp till nect level, and the monsters give you a max of 500, but it tends to be around 300exp per fight.

- no, it's less than a doller to make a new character. Though when beginning you have to purchase an ID card, which lets you create a character. They cost $5, but after that they cost less than a doller.
It's also (for me in england) £8.99 - it's also cheaper to pay in dollers, so it's the same as the WoW monthly charge,
ShaunZero
Does it cost anything for the first character? Meaning you'd have to buy the game, then buy your friggin first character, THEN pay the monthly fee? >.>

pretty much, but it also lasts *forever* meaning if you don't go on it in a year, it will still be there when you reactivate your ID.
ShaunZero
This so better be worth it. It sure looks it though, and to top it off, I'm a huge FF fan.

yeah it is really good, though you'll have to get the expansion. (the other 2 expansions should be included in the original game) so you can have the 4 'new' job classes.
ShaunZero
The one I ordered cost $19.99 and came with the original game and the last 2 expansion packs. I do think there's another expansion coming out soon though....

One thing though... My friggin purchase has been BACK ORDERED. So now I have to wait.

there are 3 expansions, 2 which are included in with the oringinal game, and the other costing the same as the original game +expansions. it lets you have a couple more jobs and more area access's.
ShaunZero
So wait, the 3rd has even MORE jobs? Aside from the 4 "new" ones in the expansion packs which come with the original game?

yeah, it's corsier and blue mage jobs. Corsier and pirates and use gambles and such to boost partys.

but, don't bother getting it yet, you can only unlock all the other jobs (part from default ones) at lvl 30. So if you do like FF11 by then, then buy the expansion pack: Treasures of Aht Urhgan
ShaunZero
Yup, just read up on it. And that's a good idea as well. Thanks for all the information.

I might by the Strategy guide just to help learn the game a bit better.
Cadetak
I didn't like the game, I bought it when it gcame out for the ps2 for 100 bucks played it for four hours and never touched it again. I am a fan of FF but to me this game shouldn't even have had the privelage of being numbered should have bin called Final Fantasy Online.
ShaunZero
What didn't you like about it?
Subtemperate
I like it, spend a lot of time playing it via my xbox 360. I havent really started the missions yet much, just building my character.
ShaunZero
What server, class, race, level, etc are you?

Here's my info:

Race: Hume
Jobs: Warrior Lv.18, Thief Lv.7.
Server: Hades
Ingame Name: Divinezero

I havn't played much because the Wii just came out and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one. happy.gif Almost thought I wouldn't get one. crying.gif
Subtemperate
Well I'm not as far into it as you, since ive only had the game a bit tongue.gif

But Im a Hume
Jobs: BLM Lev 10
Server: Hades
Ingame name: Subby
Ravinar
what kind of battle system dose it have? please don't tell me its just like Guild wars and WoW sad.gif
ShaunZero
It's a bit different than WoW and Guildwars. It's not turned base, but it's not exactly hack and slash either.

You initiate a fight by targeting an enemy and selecting "Attack". Once you do, you will draw your weapon. Then, you move up to the enemy to begin attacking. Each weapon has "delay" on it. The higher the delay, the longer you have to wait between attacks. On average, you attack every 1.4 seconds. Daggers attack faster, and 2-handed swords attack the slowest.

Well, you won't find many MMORPGs, if any, that are like that, lol. I say you need a good dose of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. <-- The BEST game in existence.
Subtemperate
lol No problem. I have just been taken across the ocean, and now have no idea where I am.... (Solina... sobina...I have no clue)

I do have a character i havent used yet back in town... but my main one is now in.... that other place. And im happy to meet up with anyone who wants to join me.
Tiggs
I will be a final fantasy XI player in an hour or so. It's taken half an hour to set up the online gaming profile, an hour to install to hard drive and now it's halfway through a 2 hour patch huh.gif

At some point, I might actually get to play it *sigh*
Subtemperate
lol tiggs. I was the same. Installing the actual final fantasy program took like 2 hours..... given it was 6gig.

Dude, you have to look me up.... Hopefully you will get on the hades server... if it ever lets you play tongue.gif

You're most likely in *Selbina*, which is not TOO far from my hometown. Around a 15 minute walk(The lands are huge on this game O_o). I havn't played much lately. But if you ever get on, add "Divinezero". If you're not sure how, type this into the chat once in-game:

/befriend DivineZero

I'll add you when I get on. Not sure when I will though, still playing Zelda.
Subtemperate
