Super Pancake
Gladiator, most likely knows how to use all types of weapons, and most likely have more experience since he or she fights almost daily against all types of fighters even animals.
Ashigaru
I'd put my money on the Spartan.

And its samurai.

Hmm...each has their qualities and faults.

It would all depend on the individual who can utilize their instincts, skill and speed the best.
Kaknelson
A man mammoth, a big Norwegian Viking.
Ravinar
the samurai are very disciplined fighters and lets face it. they have one of the best ancient weapons of all time the katana! so my moneys on the samurai. thumbsup.gif
Cadetak
Are we talking Bradd Pitt Spartan, Tom Cruise Samuari, Russel Crow type gladiator?

I'd say Chuck Norris as a highly trained Marine or Bruce Lee as a highly trained Ninja.

Or Cadetak as a highly trained space pirate.
jpalz
Chuck Norris any time of the day thumbsup.gif

Spartans spent their entire lives fighting, from birth to death.

And plus, they have that sweet hoplite armor.

1: Knights infact were not very well trained at all if you go back and research them you will find that a knight was givin a weapon and armor and simply told to go out and kill for the king or queen

2: Spartans have little armor but very efficient with sword, spears and sheilds.Pretty much your average roman soldier.

3: Vikings like knights mostly faught just because very savage like however determined and not really fearful of death made them formidable opponants.

4: Gladiator fought daily refining their abilities and there is no better training then fighting opponants on your level to the death. A gladiator has real one on one fight experience and that's what makes them dangerous.

5: Samurai refined their skills through practice and sword play however their armor definatly hampers their speed and agility. They would often behead civilians to see how good their blades were with no remorse. Also like the vikings they seen death on the battlefield as an honorable way to die.

I would give this fight to the gladiator as much as a want to say samurai I can't just because. The gladiator simply has on average more fight experience and stamina from daily death matches in a one on one arena. they train specifically for one on one combat and that gives them the upper hand.

True, but I believe this is a scenario where they would all be fighting against each other at the same time.

The Gladiator usually fought against one opponent, while the rest would concentrate on one opponent at a time...but commonly have to deal with more than one at a time.In that case, the Samurai and Viking are in the lead, due to the fact that their training encompasses fighting against more than one opponent at a time.

Of course,we also need to look at which type of Knight is involved...the early Medieval type that wore chainmail or leather...or the one everyone usually envisions when they think of a Knight...clad in platemail? If it's the one in platemail, the only thing he's got going for him is the protection that the platemail affords him.Unfortunately,he's encumbered enough to be slowed down...and platemail, just like any other armor...cannot protect one fully. There's always a gap somewhere. ph34r.gif

What a strange topic O.o But somehow, I think it's a step up from the "which would win in a fight between Bigfoot and chupacrabra" for some reason...

Anyway, it really depends on the individual...some individuals are exceptionally gifted at fighting. Musashi Miyamoto, for example, a samurai and reputedly the greatest sword genius to have ever lived, would probably kill just about anyone you put him up against...

On the other hand, I hear that Achilles was pretty tough (and yes, I know he wasn't a Spartan, but he was Greek).

One slight misconception seems to be that Gladiators would win due to experience...I should point out that professional Gladiators (although trained to a very high standard) usually only fought, at most, three of four times in a year. The fodder that would go out night in, night out would be criminals and such, who usually didn't live as long as a few months.

The fact is, not all people are created equal. Some are more intelligent, some are stronger, some are simply naturally better at handling a sword. And not all warriors are created equal either...and often, neither training or experience can completely compensate for natural gifts. Musashi Miyamoto killed an experienced and locally notorious Samurai when he was a child, using an oar.
