December 23, 2012 is the date on which the Mayan calendar ends, predicting an apocalyptic event.
Think this is true? Do you believe that are there clues from the bible that point to the end of days?

Its not only the Mayans who have suggested the end of the world as we know it,
there are ancient writtings which tell of a Planet x, Nibiru. which is due any time in the next 20 years ,{give or take} which will pull the earth apart with its gravity.
So clues are there to the end. but may be not the end to mankind.

Calendars have ends. The Mayan calendar is no exception. And just like our calendar, it just restarts. The reason this particular date in the Mayan calendar is getting so much publicity is because it's the end of the 13th (nominal 12th) b'ak'tun, which would technically kick off another cycle of thousands of years before an event like this happened again.
While this is interesting, it should also be noted that the Mayans celebrated all kinds of "milestones" like this. They would even go so far as to build monuments for events as small as the end of a k'atun, which is approximately 20 solar years. I see no reason why this is any different.
As for the Nibiru/Planet X theories...well...Sitchin is what we call a crackpot.

I typed this somewhere else. But I'll post it again. Riddle me this: If they said about 'the end of the world.' How come they say about a 'new world order' afterwards?

They didn't disappear, they scattered throughout Central and South America after their civilization fell to internal conflicts. There's still some Maya around, in fact.

I was watching a program about the "2012" thing. And they were talking "The Mayans" & the "New World Order" come up. And that's how the question popped up. I understand where you're coming from.

every year at about this time something like this comes up. The Mayan calender will just restart as someone has already said, it was the Aztecs who disappeared, there are still Maya today as someone has already said. If Nibiru really did exist then there would be more geological proof of its passing us repeatedly.

Well yes I agree that we are living at "the end of days" but only insofar as we refuse to acknowledge that uncontrolled population growth will strip the Earth of its ability to support us. It is a glaringly obvious fact and a question that no Politician nor Scientist will dare consider let alone mention.
If the population of the world continues to grow at its present rate we will reach the point where the Earth will not be providing sufficient resources to support us ....by 2012. After this date we will enter a long dark period of decline as we begin to fight over diminishing resources.

The date is correct but it does not necessarily predict a catastrophic event. It states that it is the date when a new age will begin. Yes, prior ages were terminated by water and wind but there is no description of what will introduce the new age.

Another 13.0.0.0.0 will occur on December 21, 2012, and it has been discussed in many New Age articles and books that this will be the end of this creation, the next pole shift or something else entirely. However, the Maya abbreviated their long counts to just the last five vigesimal places. There were an infinite number of larger units that were usually not shown. When the larger units were shown (notably on a monument from Coba), the end of the last creation is expressed as 13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.13.0.0.0.0, where the units are obviously supposed to be 13s in all larger places. In this age we are only approaching 0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.13.0.0.0.0, and the larger places are nowhere near the 13s that would match the end of the last creation. (Schele and Friedel 1990: 430)
This is confirmed by a date from Palenque, which projects forward in time to 1.0.0.0.0.0, which will occur on October 13, 4772 (a Friday). The Classic Period Maya likely did not believe that the end of this age would occur in 2012. According to the Maya, there will be a baktun ending in 2012, a significant event being the end of a 13th 400 year period, but not the end of the world.

I live everyday as if it may be my last. Not in a reckless way but right with my creator. Being Christian I believe in the 2nd coming of Christ.....not so much as the bible speaks, but a day of reckoning and major change. I am prepared to stand before my creator and enter the gates of heaven...whatever that may be.
If it happens tomorrow, so be it....on Dec 23, 2012, that'd be fine too...
Regardless when it is, i take it very seriously....after all what do I have to lose?
I doubt though that anyone will know the exact date. Perhaps that date will have some other meaning...its hard to say.

its not the end of the world, it's a wipeout. many people will die, but few will survive.
cause of this "end" ARE ourselves. world is now full of negative energy caused by wars, death, diseases etc. and people ofcourse are too materialistic. we don't care about spirits and all this kind of mental stuff.
This global disaster or "end" is going to wipe most of us, but there is a place/island, the Noah's Ark, the safe place, somewhere on our planet, where last humans are going to make a better world. some even believe that people, who lived before us(aliens for us) will come just before the "end" and rescue "the chosen ones".
It all may hear a big nonsense, but we should think about this, before it's too late. so everybody, think positive, love people and the nature, help each other.
all the signs in this world show that something IS going to happen. global warming, change of the magnetic pole's (i have heard that even a meteor CAN fall on earth between 2010 and 2020). I'll be not suprised when even a nuclear war starts.

Worlds are not planets, but mental realms created by men (world of commerce, world of religion, world of...etc.). The end of the world might just be (as other bright stars in here mentioned) the end of a way of life - or relating to one another or life in general - and the beginning of something totally different.
