I don't believe God made man in his own image. When you step back and look at what is destroying the world as we know it, all that creates destruction, all that kills the enviorment, all that kills animals for sport and a few of these animals are soon to become extinct, the same thing that brought a killing disease/virus into our midst...(ie AIDS..the saying goes...AIDS is like Nylon - Man Made!!)... the same kind that created destructive weapons to destroy, the same kind that every time you switch on the news, has raped and killed.....the most deadliest thing ever placed on this earth...is MAN...it's hard to believe God the creator..created man in the image as himself.
IMO God is not in the image of MAN...God is a force of energy..a spirit if you will..but not in the form of man..it doesnt make sense. It was man that claimed God made us in his form...a theory..thats it.!!
You are probably right, and there is a lot of scriptural evidence as to what the Biblical God's form may actually be like:
1. The Sumerian prototype for the Hebrew God, complete with sacred trees of eternal life and world drowning, has among other titles, that of "Great Dragon".
2.Before Christians "rewrote the bible", the highests of heavenly creatures, and the only ones who could withstand God's presence and group around his throne are called seraphim, which means fiery flying serpents, or "dragons" as the word was translated to Greek from Hebrew by early Christians.
3. One of the highest heavenly servants (Satan) is described as a fiery red dragon, exactly as the other seraphim.
4. The Zoroastrian Persians plainly state in their scriptures that the God of the Christians and Jews is an enormous dragon.
5. God is constantly described in the Bible as spewing fire from his mouth and smoke from his nostrils EXACTLY like the dragons in the Bible.
6. The ancient Christians were largely of Greek heritage, and accepted the idea of God having a human son, because the greatest living man prior to Jesus was alexander the great, who they believe had a similar miraculous birth when God took the form of a winged serpent or dragon and raped Alexander's mother, thus creating the greatest man prior to Jesus. There is little doubt many early Christians believed the same thing happened to bring Jesus into the world.
7. And besides, God would have had no idea what humans would finally look like until evolution turned them into what we know today. A dragon-like form suggests a lifeform going back perhaps 200 million years.
8. In the Apocolypes of Baruch, an ancient Christian scripture, Baruch is taken to heaven and he asks about a huge dragon he sees there and the angel says that the dragon consumes the souls of the wicked, and that the belly of the dragon is Hell. So back to the original post, it may not be that God is IN Hell, but that God may BE Hell!
I could go on and on, but that's enough for now.
