Out of all the "real life' horror stories this one interest me the most. Probably the subject of many a thread but I saw a documentry on tv which mentioned a photo taken on a visit by some mediums to the house.

This photo is of a ghostly boy, the mediums clamed that no child was present that day. The story goes that when this photo was shown to The Lutzes and their daughter immedialtly recognised the child as her 'imaginary friend' (the dark figure with the glowing eyes in the film).

I would be interested in finding out more info if anyone has it.

I don't have much info on anything, but I truly believe that the Amityville Horror is a complete hoax and that the Lutzes are just in it for the money.
I also believe that the Warrens are frauds.

Please forgive me for interrupting the thread with my bitterness, I'll let myself out. original.gif

Madmachine, I heart you - and agree. yes.gif

I also have my doubts about the Amityville case and the credibility of the Warrens. There is so much controversy surrounding the Amityville case that it is hard not to be a bit skeptical. Accusations abound about book and film deals being done before the events even took place and the occupants who moved into the house after the Lutz's left claim they have experienced no paranormal phenomena. With so many conflicting sides to the story it is difficult to come to a conclusion about what actually took place.

I'm not saying it is genuine but that photograph showing the little boy in the Amityville house does have an aura of creepiness about it. The problem with regarding it as evidence is that we only have the word of those who investigated the house that there was no child present. If the photograph was faked by the team it wouldn't be the first time a group of "paranormal investigators" has gone to the lengths of creating their own "evidence" in support of a case. Isn't it a pity there are so many crackpots out there!

It's been awhile since I have frequented these forums, for that I apologize, I've been busy with a lot.

However for an answer on your question, the Amityville horror is in fact a giant hoax. Ronald DeFeo admitted to killing his family in his drunken rage, and it had nothing to do with ghosts, demons or any paranormal. It was a good defense played out by himself and his lawyer to land him in a mental institution to avoid jail time.

The Warrens heard about the story, and found it a great money making scheme to capatilize on. The Warrens themselves became very greedy as there " career " went on, and found that many people would pay large sums of money for cheap thrills. I met Ed Warren awhile back before his passing. Very bright man, and very manipulative, however the work he did do was done well.

Agree with MadMachine and would also like to add that this is a picture of just a regular kid and that the glowing eyes is nothing more than light reflecting off the child's glasses.

I dont know about any of you, but that picture of the boy on the steps creeps me out!
Joke_Master_Mandy
I think the whole Amityville thing is just an excuse for them to make money (hmm, not a bad idea though wink2.gif ) But you got to admit that pic looks damn creepy, and real for that matter.
coldethyl
It's light reflecting off glasses.

Joke_Master_Mandy
Could be, but I've never seen light relfect off glasses like that. I know it's fake, but you gotta admit it looks real.
coldethyl
I've seen it loads of times. It's an actual picture not a fake one, there's just nothing paranormal about it.

Aren't there lots of other threads on this already? Have people forgotten how to use the search function? This is the second "duplicate" I've seen on just one page... hmm.gif

Hell it could be light even reflecting off the eyes. You know like redeye, which is just light reflecting off the eyes, but in colour photos.
coldethyl
^^ Yeah could be, but I remember looking at the picture a while back and being sure it was a pair of those huge 1970's glasses. Just what I think, but you could be right. I think there's a better pic on the Warren's website.

Giant hoax!

Warrens were frauds!

This is BS!

People who believe it should be put away, placed in a locked room, fed nothing but oatmeal, beaten twice a day with a lambchop, never given a drivers license, never have children. And above all...... Never watch a movie with Rickie Schroder in it.

You know, it looks like eye glow, but the left eye looks wonky, like someone used the magnification tool in Photoshop to blow up one side of his face, making it look more creepy. Photoshop is a favorite tool for hoaxers. But, like Coldethyl said, it looks mostly like a real, live child with super dorky glasses. It's a creepy picture, but that's about it.
