Lately there has been an abundance of information about Neandrathal man in the news........ they stated he died out 28,000 yrs a go. Curiosuly about 35,000 yrs a go what was their population, anyone know or could guess or so............. Please post............ thanks..............

They say it would be in the thousands but they have no clue. There is no way to know becausevery few bones actually survive. They say they know but in reality it is only a guess.

my guess would be about 500,000 fewer than that would be hard to evolve but I am DEF not an expert in anything lol so dont put too much weight on my estimate

If I remember correctly the experts estimation is in the 30 to 50 thousands.

I believe that the archeological evidence shows that neanderthal man still ranged over most of Europe about 35,000 years ago. So, I'd guess that 20,000 as a low number isn't to bad. Maybe 40,000 tops. They were mainly hunter gatherers so there couldn't have been hundreds of thousands, the game animals and post glaciation vegitation wouldn't have supported it.

Considering that their 'range' consisted of Europe and a large part of the Middle East, it's tough to say. It probably depended on whether or not the world was in an Ice Age at the time, but I'm guessing at *maybe* 250,000 at their highest point.
