A PSYCHIC has prompted police to search a specific area of wasteland in Manchester in the hunt for a missing father-of-one.

Vinny Derrick, 28, went missing more than two months ago after a night out in Manchester.

Information passed on to police from a woman psychic has focused attention on an area in Cheadle, close to a section of the Stockport to Altrincham railway line.

A police source said certain details passed on by the medium, who has not been named, were not in the public domain.

"It's amazing some of the things she was able to tell us," said the source. "She knew details about the backgrounds of Vinny and his wife Vicky, things only a husband and wife know. It's quite eerie."

Specific area

Officers were put in touch with the psychic, from south Manchester, after she was visited by two people who knew Mr and Mrs Derrick.

The medium, who does not know the couple, told the two visitors about a missing man, who they recognised as Mr Derrick. The pair then got in touch with police, who spoke to the psychic.

A Greater Manchester police spokeswoman said: "She described a specific area which we were only able to carry out a basic search of in the summer.

"Now we are able to carry out a full search because the trees and heavy shrubs have lost their leaves and we are able to get in there.

"Because this woman has spoken of an area which we had already targeted for a second search, we have gone back. We don't actively seek the help of psychics, but what she told us tied in with the investigation."

Being a big fan of crime, I have read several stories in which psychic's were called in to assist the police. In most cases they were of very little or no help at all. It's interesting to know that this psychic was able to give details not known to the public.

Interesting case Lionel. I see what you mean. All of the details he provided were already documented in the newspapers & such prior to his initial arrival so he easily could have "studied up". And he could have simply noticed the "gas leak" in the police officers camper prior to his "discovery" to convince the man of his "ability"... It seems he was able to detect the location of the last victim successfully, but not the killer.

You're right, maybe this Manchester case will prove differently regarding the psychic involved...
