Its part of quatom theory, which dictates that instead of our 3 spacial dimensions and our 1 time dimension, there are actually 10 spacial dimensions, where time and distance are very different to our traditional view.

Scientists have stipulated that the universe is made up of incredibly small strings which vibrate through these 10 dimensions, making up all the matter in all the universes for all of infinity, through all possible posibilities.

And as you've probably guessed, its far far far more complicated than can ever be explained on one website, let alone one thread. It is however, incredibly interesting. Look on wikipedia for more indepth explanations.
