I am 22, and have suffered from Sleep Paralysis, for two years now. It happens, a couple times a month, sometime a couple times a week. It is very frustrating and at times I feel like I am going to die, because I struggle to breathe especially, when I'm laying on my back. My most terrifying encounter happened last night.

When I woke up at 4:00 am not being able to move, talk or speak for one minute. During that period of time, I felt something pushing me, it was force that I cannot describe, it was powerful. I couldn't see because I was facing the opposite direction, but I swear that something was there. Half way through it, I got up and felt free again only to go back in a paralysis state again. It felt as if this force pushed me down on my bed after I got up. Finally after a minute, I got up and got out of bed. What struck me was that, when I got up, I felt heavy and felt as if I was carrying something on my back while I was walking down stairs. I refused to go back to sleep after that, was that force a dream or was something there. I have been in this current house for five years and only cop sleep paralysis while I'm sleeping in my room. Anyone can give me some answers?

Hi Rob

I find the best way to deal with Sleep Paralysis is to recognise what it is when it starts to happen and remind myself it will pass. Don't try and fight the urge to move, instead relax and focus on just trying to move a small body part like a finger or toe. As soon as it passes it's a good idea to get up and get something to small to eat and drink. Others and myself find this stops any further episodes original.gif There's quite a few people around here that suffer from SP and hold mixed ideas to what it is. I firmly believe it isn't anything paranormal, just a sleep disorder. If it's really distrupting your sleep (does sound like you suffer it alot) then you could always go and see a Dr

I've experienced SP about 15 times in my life. I haven't had an experience in the last 4 years or so, although every once in a while i'll wake up in the middle of the night and feel that something is about to happen if I don't move my body in some way. I found that it only happened when i slept on my back, so I started trying to always sleep on my side. That has worked so far, but as I said, occasionally i'll wake up and im lying on my back and I'll be sure to turn to my side. Instead of being frightened as it's happening try getting mad and egg it on. That's what I did on my last experience and it hasn't happened since. I think the Succubus freaked out that I was just as crazy as him and split. devil.gif

Succubi are the females, they are drawn to males. Incubi are males and are drawn to the females. They attack you in a sexual manner, and usually drain your energy and libido. They like to mess with your dreams and play on your memories. They can get very jealous if another of the opposite sex tries entering your life and that can result in complications.

When I first started getting really bad sleep paralysis I did a bunch of research on succubi... Mostly it's just sleep paralysis though. Although in the past SP was blamed on succubi and incubi, and other culture's forms of these devils. Succubi were thought to frequent monestaries, and loved to try to infect the monks and nuns.

I had sleep paralysis happen to me once two summers ago. I was suffering from extreme insomnia.

I didn't know what happened to me before, but after reading this I now understand. It's good to get some answers.

Thanx alot for your replys, it is a sleeping disorder but theres times when you just can't help to think it is not when you feel this powerful force pushing you against the bed, but I guess it is all an illusion and is just a dream.

I even went through a stage, where I was dreaming of being at funerals of people I didn't know, dreaming about grave yards and seeing dead people that I know that have passed on in my dream on a regular basis. I don't know if this was all stress related but it hasn't happened for a while. Just another thing that, I wanted to add and see if anyone has experienced something similar.

My advice... from experience, is to just close your eyes or focus out of everything in the room so that you just have a blank stare, ignore what ever is going on, and try to fall back asleep. This is coming from a person that also has(d?) sleeping paralysis. Once you fight it, it's a terrifying experience but once you relax and just let your body fall back asleep, it makes for a good wake-up conversation with whoever when you wake up.

Also, don't think about wether its paranormal or not, that's how I conquer SP.

Get yourself a narrow field electromagnetic sensor system. Once it’s available to the civilian market thumbsup.gif meanwhile use a normal tripwire and stay awake.

If your hallucinations have mass then they're probably not hallucinations.
