Woman coughs up pellet after 21 years

A woman has coughed up an air rifle pellet - 21 years after she was shot in the face.

Sue Allaker's brother Craig accidently fired the gun up her nose in 1985 at their home in Hull, East Yorkshire.

According to Metro, she said: "I coughed up a round ball. I took it into the kitchen, not wanting my family to see, only to find it was the pellet my brother shot me with all those years ago."

Doctors believe the pellet, not picked up on xrays, became lodged behind a piece of bone.

I'm suprised she suffered no infection.

Ive heard a similar story, but it involved a older man. I believe I read it in a "Ripley's Believe It or Not" book that one of my brothers owns.=]]

I think so to.

Pretty dang lucky it didn't do more damage to her either. People think BB and pellet guns are just little toys but they're serious weapons.

I've heard stories about people getting killed by those suckers. Lucky she's still alive. Why didn't she have it taken out earlier? Forgetful much?

Because it was stuck behind bone and didn't show up on the x-rays. They didn't know it was there.

So true, a man here died recently when he was shot by a pellet hangun in the neck 8 times, cut through his spine and jugular.

It was a joke. Nevermind.

she is lucky. But it depends on the pellet and if it broke its lucky it lodged somewhere before it travelled through her system

That is really odd. blink.gif

I know my dad had a piece of steel stuck deep in his thumb that had to work it's way out. It took about a year cause his hands were soooo calloused. It was either tear his thumb to hell & not be able to work or let it find it's own way out. I was there when what was left finally surfaced. He cut it out with his pocket knife. I know, we call it redneck surgery! wink2.gif
