It is not necessarily the musician part of you .
I have heard whole mysterious repertoires .. and I am definitely not a musician .
Well, I play the piano , a little , mostly xmas songs ..and some funny stuff .. but that's it !
But what I hear is celestial .. and singng , choirs actually ... that couldn't be me ?

Maybe this is the wrong thread for this but it seems to fit. I lost my other half last December after 35 years together. Ever since then when I fly on business trips, I will hear music coming from the planes engines - some of it I will recognize and others I won't. The music will sound like it is coming from a very distant radio station. I also hear it at times from the fans of electronic devices. I have read in several books that the recently departed can manipulate mechanical and electronic things to make music, it is one way they can communicate with us, just to let us know that they are with us. Has anyone else experienced this after a recent death of a loved one?

Yes, I have similiar experiances. One day I was listening to one song on the radio, volume at a regular level, and thought I was listening to one song, actually hearing it, when I wasnt at all. Cant remember what the song was... And I dont know if it correlates to a loved one dying or not.

Very interesting..
A few nights ago, actually, I had this problem. I was laying in complete silence and I thought I could hear music or voices, but it was very faint. I just figured it would be from lisening to music really loud? I don't remember being very tired either, it definitly freaked me out.
I have also heard very loud music while waking up from dreams as someone said previously..

I've had experiences in the past where I would hear faint music (all different kinds of music) mostly at night while it is really quiet or sometimes when I'd tried to fall asleep. I don't have braces or anything metal inside of me and I am 100% sure there was no source for the music possibly to be coming from. Like I said, I'm mostly in the middle of the wood or in my bed with past experiences. I was just wondering if anyone else had these experiences and if anyone knows the cause of the phenonema.

I hear music that's coming from no known source as well. I can't explain the phenomenon either. I hear choirs singing faintly and I hear what seems to be of a classical genre playing too. I never hear rock 'n roll, but I do hear white noise chatter also. You're not alone.

Thank you!

well, the speakers i use for my computer require an amplifier for them to work (they're big old hi-fi speakers, roughly about 35 years old) and sometimes the amplifier (only about 5 years old) can randomly pick up radio frequencies. It sounds almost like chinese talking usually, (which is odd, seeing as i live in Manchester tongue.gif) but occasionly it can be music.
turning off the amp fixes it, but when it wakes you up in the middle of night it can be a little freaky grin2.gif

...Why shouldn't this human be in the woods in the middle of the night? I like the woods, and I often camp, or simply sleep in them with some friends. Cougars don't attack multiple people, they're cowards. Bears don't attack sleepers often, unless they have reason. Gray wolves are not anthrovores. *doubts that's a word, although it's an accurate one* Then there's coyotes, racoons, bobcats and lynx. Not agressive, or brave.

However, onto the real issue here... Music from nowhere, if it's in your mind.. That's constant with me. For instance, this morning I woke up with the song which's name I think is "Clippety Clop" from The Marx Brothers Go West stuck in my head.

However, physical music as if from nowhere isn't completely unexplainable, especially at night. You'd be amazed how sound travels at night. For instance I was outside with some friends, and we heard Rock being played, drifting across the puget sound. That's miles away. It's not unheard of for a gunshot in the depths of night to be heard for miles and miles around here. Simply, at night sound is diminished to an incredible level. Ambient noises cease in forested regions. However, if you're in an area with lots of crickets or frogs... This is much less of a possibility. However if it was a still and silent night... The music could have been drifting from a party a city away.

And don't forget the spiders! Ugh! So creepy!

I tend to continuously play music in my head, sometimes I'll be hearing music and think it's coming from my head, and vice versa. Do you listen to a lot of music?

On a different note, I've heard weird animal sounds in my room at night. We have 3 cats 2 dogs, but these sounds don't come from cats or dogs. *shrugs*

Experienced it just recently waiting to fall asleep. Very trippy space like music. Almost a mix of early Pink Floyd and Acid Jazz. Very beautiful and relaxing. To the point of falling asleep before being able to bring it into reality by writing it down.
Almost like I was the only one who was supposed to hear it. Would like to be able to reexperience it at some point. Although it will probly be like the Outer Limits where they receive a transmission via music to save the earth when the sun turns ultraviolet.
Most beautiful music they ever heard, but will never hear it again. If anyone has ideas how to possibly set an environment to be receptive, would be much appreciated. As a side note, had recently started taking 5-HTP as a dietary supplement along with
some other things. Only reason I mention that one in particular is because a possible side effect of more than 100 mg is nightmares. Which might be of interest to some, but the auditory hallucination could also be because of that.
Look forward to more replies on this topic.

Oh Wow. Thank you. This happens to me 3-4 times a year. I have never mentioned it to anyone, don't know quite what to make of it, and I don't really know how to explain the experience. I am just glad to know its not only me!
ghostrreal
that happened to me, and all my friends we thought it could be a house near by, so we followed the noise, and it got louder then it suddenly stop and it was the ends of the woods, and it brought us to a empty corn field, that looks like it hasnet been used in years, and this is the same woods, that we teepes are built really good by themsleves

so were video taping soon, and i'm using my advanced editing soft ware to focus on it

This has happened to me alot too. Usually while either trying to sleep, or when I used to try to AP. I'd just start hearing music. I'm in the basement though, and, when I would lift ym head from my pillow it would stop. When I put it back it would start again. It happened only 3-4 times though, havent heard it in months though...

EDIT:
On a side note. I listen to alot of Heavy/Death Metal. The music I would hear though wouldn't be the kind I normally listen to. One time, it sounded like a bunch of beeps. Like those old movies, when a spaceship would land, like when a ufo would land somewhere, it sounded like that. Another time, it was like Techno. With weird instrumentals and rythems and stuff. The last time it was really beautiful though, it was like a symphony. It was unlike anything I had heard before. I'm not a musician or anything, so I couldn't write down the notes or anything. I just remeber the brief descriptions...I can't remember the whole song though...

they lasted for a minute or two each time......

Yes I have just here recently and its at night also, I would like to know. I wonder why here lately?
Its sounds odd in the way of music not really one type but many overlaping.

Iv'e had similar things happen to me, it hasnt happened for a while but when it does it happens when im going to sleep, I can hear the sound of people talking, I can't make out what they are saying though, kinda like the tv is on, when the lights are out and everybodys in bed and the tv is clearly off.

You should be glad your hearing music and not voices...i used to be plagued by voices, i know now that they were hallucinations, only once did i hear music in my head, it was beautiful, i cant for the life of me remember it. maybe our brains are still forming connections and its quite possible that a connection is made into a musically creative part of the brain and then the connection is lost. perhaps the great musicians simply have the connections that allow them to hear music in their minds. and thats why it appears so simple to them to turn that into reality by recording it or writing it down. if you listen to mozart you can hear all the seperate channels at once, its truly remarkable.

Whoa. What did the voices say?

I have a minute question, what does it mean like, when you hear a frequency beep that lasts for quite awhile. I don't have any metal fillings or the like I just hear it the longest that I've heard lasted and hour and a half
cutycub
haha yes, don't worry, it's not just you.
sometimes i think our brain replays songs we've heard before.
for instance, i heard 'fur alise' in my head, knowing there's no source for it.
or there's a possibility that our brain is sometimes able to capture/interpret radio waves???
