Full Version: They call me psycho because...

A few years ago, someone called me psycho for believing in life beyond Earth and reading a book about alien theories, but it was perfectly okay for him to sit in his room for hours at a stretch, praying to whatever God he worshipped and not receiving a reply at all. When I asked him about this, he said he was gaining enlightenment and I was the one who was weird. What an ignorant idiot; he'd rather believe in a God that isn't proven to exist, than believe in something as logical as extraterrestrial life...and worse, he called me psycho for that...

Hi there,

I can understand you position, but what you just typed doesn't leave much room for a discussion and really seems to be more of a blog entry than anything. Are you trying to make a statement or start a discussion?
Ashiene
i want to see how many others have experienced this sort of critism...

maybe he was playing world of warcraft

world of warcraft>bible

Frankly i think this statement can be reversed back and forth just depending on what kind of people you are talking to. I myself think the other way around also. I think the people who are crazy is the ones who cannot accept the theories that we are not alone and have been visited already. How long has this universe been here, they say 78 billion years or so, so i assume complex life to be plentiful if our planet is so full of it. Belief is one thing, trying to encourage others to take the same belief system is another. Some people try to push the alien existance on others, but i personally think they will make their own mind up when the facts or sightings of their own happen. Some things cant be explained, neither can God even with Science. So we have to realize that no matter what way we look at it, there is something out there that is much more advanced then us, and we cannot even imagine how it could exist. Until we find some DNA or some solid proof were just going to go in circles with religion and beliefs.
So for someone to call you crazy about believing in aliens, they gotta be pretty messed up to believe some godly being put us here as if we were molded like clay o.O
Ashiene
The Universe has been in existance (as far as we know) for 15 billion years...not 78 billion lol

The thing I've found about what people call enlightenment is this..
No matter what route anyone takes they all end up at the exact same point at some time, no matter what revelation they have that gets them there. Just as you don't want to be mocked or denigrated for your beliefs in aliens, neither should you mock for a belief in God; because someday you'll probably find a common ground with that exact same person..
Nor do I believe there's one ultimate level of enlightenment. For no matter what you truly want to believe you always find out that invariably; at some point, you've been wrong..
That's true of you, me, and everyone else..

Well Falco Rex, I think the word WRONG is a harsh self judgement. I tend to think "there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of by the minds of man". I do not know who said that but for me at least it is a truth.

Compassion for self will allow us to see that todays Partial Understand will lead to tomorrows greater understanding. The ultimate truth is that we are all Love expressing in forgetfulness. So the point is not what we remember but appreciation for the purpose of our journey as humans.

In some ways we are all correct with our thinking whatever it may be. That is because when we see in a particular way, we actually create our truths.

Another useful concept is to consider every belief as accurate for those who choose to think in a particular way. Understand that for them It Is their reality.

Its my conclusion, a wise approach is to have compassion for self and others as well.

While I adhere to your last sentence...a wise approach is to have compassion for self and others...the other 'concept' is pure mammbypammbywammbyism. It sounds good...but it is totally void of any logic. Of course, if a person is suffering from schizophrenia...they believe that their truth is reality...but it doesn't change the 'real' reality that they are just sick in the head. Therefore, just because a person believes something to be truth doesn't mean that we all have to pat them on the back and congratulate them for finding their own personal truth.

With respect to the OP...Believing in God is more relevant than believing in ET. Since the beginning of memory of man, there has been a concept of God...ET is a late, last century phenomena that has no merit in reality....warped light speed only occurs on Star Trek....Worm holes do not lead to civilizations thousands of light years away...

God cannot be proved or disproved...one doesn't have to look far at all though to disprove ET.

Ok..... I am not religious, so can I call you psycho for alien theories? and belonging to the stars? and feeling part of a computer game? and the last near death feeling being the birth canal from when you are born?

I would work yourself out before taking what anyone else thinks.

Apply these writes to a book. Would make an excellent read.

Might I suggest you talk to McKenna? She has really bizarre thoughts on the world and aliens. You would get on.
Ashley-Star*Child
And your point is? Aliens aren't proven to exist either.

Yes at this point warp drive is only in Star Trek, but for how long? Basically NASA says that experiments are taking place on things of this nature, but all they know for sure now, is what they know they know, what they don't know, they don't know. Pretty wishy-washy actually but it is NASA after all. tongue.gif http://www.nasa.gov/centers/glenn/research...p/warpstat.html And remember it was not that many years ago that they said the sound barrier couldn't be broken. Though the light barrier is vastly different, it just means we haven't found the key yet. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/glenn/research...p/ideachev.html An explanation of Tachyons, http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/physics/Part...r/tachyons.html Interesting stuff.

Yup peices of toast, Stains, Bleeding statues, and preachers what more could someone ask for when trying to find evidence in god. o.O

Ok still this topic can be turned both ways, it's all about what you believe not what someone else tells you, because either way there is no solid proof of either. I believe in flying pigs, prove me wrong o.O

Why would technology make you a god? you dont stem from technology but rather technology stems from you. You have backwards logic.

Well...... You both scare me with some of your thoughts, but also intrigue me. Find very bizarre, but get it written down and keep for the future. Brave person..... I would rarely share my thoughts original.gif

I love the site allpoetry.com do not need to pay, can write and join in discussions and share your work with like minded people.

No, I don't think people from 1906 would be so impressed with a cell phone or an Ipod that they'd mistake us for gods. In fact, if they heard the dumb crap we said on our cell phones and recorded on our Ipods, they'd probably think we were idiots.
