Man Pulls 7-Foot Python From Toilet

SYDNEY, Australia - An Australian wildlife worker pulled a 7-foot python out of a septic tank Wednesday after a plumber found it hiding in a woman's toilet, officials said.

Peter Phillips, a wildlife officer for the Northern Territory's Parks and Wildlife Service, was called to remove the snake after a plumber who was fixing the blocked toilet discovered it curled in the pipes.

"The ... resident originally called a plumber because her toilet was blocked," Phillips said in a statement released by the Northern Territory government. "I arrived to see a large python head peering out of the toilet bowl."

Phillips removed the snake from the septic tank because he said it had grown too big to be pulled straight out of the toilet. The mostly nocturnal Carpet Python had probably taken up temporary residence in the septic tank because it was a good place to hide during the day and hunt for frogs.

"The tank was obviously a great home, because the snake was so fat and healthy it was it difficult to retrieve," he said, adding that the nonpoisonous snake will be released.

Gosh .. a snake peering out of anything, would totally freak me out!

I'm just wondering how the snake got there in the first place.

Apparently it found its way into the underground septic tank where it ate frogs and such...and then started exploring the pipe that led to the toilet...then it got stuck and couldn't get out.

Can you imagine getting up in the middle of the night to do some 'business' and not see it there...but 'feel' it ?

I'd rather see a snake than a rat.

A rat would definitely be much worse.. although, a 7-foot python would be pretty bad..

The bite would be worse than the rat Being bitten by a python or boa is not fun, believe me.

At least you'd be in the right place for it.

Snake...rat...I'd really rather not see any animal in my toilet. Unless it was a chipmunk or something cute like that.

I told my sister (who's deathly afraid of snakes) about this story and needless to say, she has the national guard on speed dial and phone in hand everytime she enters her bathroom now

I'm just glad it wasn't my mom who found it. She gets all upset if she even sees a picture of one! She had one living in her yard one spring & she'd stay at least 10 feet away from that area. I guess she thought it wouldn't travel far. Riiiiight, Mom.

Maybe he ate it earlier or something...
