i found this little pamplet at the laundry mat , with a sign please take one, so i thought i'd share some of the message..

Repentanance:Door of mercy,

do you know that you have been found guitlty of sin by a 'holy god' and sentenced to death? If sinful man is to escape this eternal death and be eternally saved , he must recieve gods'mercy..

let me explain mercy per this pamphlet...mercy is god withholding from us ( the sinners) the penalty whcih we deserve( the original sin comes in here) Eve makes a choice basically , she doesn't know how pivital her choice is, god doesnt' mention this but its wrong and so wrong she has managed to destroy mankind in this one choice) oops...

anyways god is not without conditions , even though salvation is free ( gw it actually says this i didn't add it lol) without price and cannot be earned...hmmmm scratches head....The condition upon which god grants mercy is repentanance....

the bible says 'behold the goodness and severity of god', the goodness of god desired to save man but his judgement demanded sentence......so in came his son, Jesus.... (sort of if my kid chose to eat an orange instead of the apple and i demanded he must pay the piper so in my great mercy i have this idea, we'll crucify his little brother nail him to the tree out back, let him suffer as a reminder if he ever again thinks he should possibly have his own choice ... well think agian ..

I actually had a dear friend that was beat up by her father for any thing, he would come up to her and punch her and she'd ask him why did you do that and he said figure it out, until you do you are grounded..i wonder who inspired his behaviors...... she ended up killing herself....

I guess my question would be how is htis diety referred to as so loving???? Discuss.....

Just goes to show you about verbal abuse. What do you expect when you keep letting somebody else tell you to let god talk to you like that!

Is it a merciful god that creates it's creation to be all that it is, so that it has to find it's way back to it's creator, on it's knees!?
Is that a god for the strong, or a god for the weak!? Is that the same vision afforded the title, when we look into the cosmos in awe of all that exists and realize there, there are no favorites! There, there are no mistakes. No sins, no transgressions. No weakness as we know it, because it is perfection and it serves. If god is seen in the galaxy how is it so capable of making such frailty and weakness, such unworthiness, as us?!

Let me beat ya to it. It's a mystery. It's all part of gods plan. It's his perogative to do what he wants. Come on! It's god!

Or is that god we read about, just a figment of the imagination of us?! Because if faith in something higher didn't inspire the faithful to keep suffering while looking up, people might realize they could get a closer look and feel better if they just got off their knees.

I have found a few pamphlets like that in my time. I read them, chuckle at them and then put them back.

I've found that relying on others interpretations of god and the after life, is less than satisfactory.

IMO, there is no need for ANYONE to tell you what god wants you to do, or how you need to do it. God is big enough to tell each person what he/she wants from them. DIRECTLY.

God doesn't need an interpreter OR a spokesman.

Around here they always try to pass out these pamphlets to kids about some kid doing something wrong and spending eternity in hell. The pamphlets literally make me sick, what they're trying to tell people. Last time I got one it was from this guy who asked me to burn with him.

I know of what you speak. Their called tracts. The first time I saw one it was poorly drawn cartoon characters relating some horrific event on the cover, and asking where will "You" be when jesus comes. I suddenly hoped for any believer seeing that that it wasn't in the same place I was in that moment. The stall at TGIF!

Can you imagine!? Whew! Praise jesus but I'm mooning Miami! -we have lift off for the rapture-

Joey, very well said, i had never really payed much attention to the pimping stylle of the religious, it seems they use terror of hte worst kind...cut right to the chase do or die....i gosh it reminds me of the kid that is terrified of leaving the closet door open and the parent who sees an oppourtunity to get the kid to tow the mark..... creepy dietys in the sky watching your every move, note pad in hand...
I can't think of a more mental mind F*$#@......of terror....

I'd rather have freddy under the bed..... at least you dream of him first....... god grief how this isn't called mental terrorism of the invisible kind i am perplexed.... How putting up 'tracts' to intentionally manipulate and harm to mislead for gain is not considered a issue is beyond me....
In corporate america its called extortion., holding one hostage in terror.....

Joey i just don't get it .....

I went to a catholic highschool for my freshman year and we had to go on a retreat. At this retreat they made us do excercises which consisted of everyone sitting in a circle. The priest would go around the circle and ask each person a series of questions like "will you always love god", "do you promise never to have premateral sex", and the like. We where exspected to answer yes to all the questions and then afterwards we would applaud the person. When it came around to me and they asked the questions I said this:

"I'm not going to lie and tell you yes...you all know I'm not catholic. Wheres the purple kool-aid at anyways? Lets get his thing over with."

I got suspended.

You wish that was the case..but see catholics are still the biggest domination within Christianity...there are millions and millions of devote catholics that would NEVER speak out against religion...no offence to you PA but why is it that only born agains seem to say this..well In my experience they only ones I have heard say similar to your quote are born agains!!! Again PA no offence..but its unfair of you to say that about one religious faith...when ANY religious faith can speak out againt ANY religion!

BM, I know you have a soft spot for Catholics, and you feel you need to jump in and defend them. Please be aware that I was not in any way attacking them. I know there are many people who go through the Catholic school system and grow up to be firm-believing Catholics. I was not intending to say that this was not the case, there was no intended implication that the Catholic school system made everyone into Atheists.

BUt it has also been my experience that those who go to Catholic schools and somewhere along the line reject the Catholic faith become the ones who are most ardently against religion. One of my best friends is the most outspoken people about religion that I know, bar none. Even he agrees that this is a direct result of his attending a Catholic school. The Catholic school system either creates firm believers, or hardcore skeptics, with very little middle ground.

Perhaps I should have made that clearer in my earlier post thumbsup.gif
