I was a huge fan of the Tekken saga, but after I upgraded from ps1 to xbox, I could no longer find such a fighting game. I heard about a game called dead or alive which was supposed to be great, but that's only for ps2 isn't it? What's happening with fighting games these days?? Are there any on their way? Would love to chat about it.

Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore is on the PS2. Dead or Alive 3 is on the Xbox and The 360 gets Dead or Alive Ultimate.

They are passable fighting games. Try the Soul Caliber Series, Soul Caliber is on the Dreamcast, Soul Caliber 2 is on the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. Sould Caliber 3 is on the PS2 only.

I think Tekken 5(or is it 6?) is comming out for the PS3. I think a new Mortal Kombat game just came out.

Theres also Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GC and those WWE games if you count those.

DOA is a good fighting game...if you suck at fighting games.

"Street Fighter Anniversary Collection"

xbox version has live support

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection is a compilation of two Street Fighter video games: one new title, Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition, and a port of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Released for the Playstation 2 and Xbox, both versions are nearly identical, but for the latter version offering online competitive play.

The initial Japanese release for Xbox was pulled from shelves within a week of release due to a sound bug. Though initially this was believed to be because the title was discovered to be region-free, Capcom confirmed the title's lack of regional lockout was not a mistake, but an intentional decision by the company.

"Street Fighter Alpha Collection"

Street Fighter Alpha Anthology

Released in 2006 for the Playstation 2, known as Street Fighter Zero: Fighter's Generation in Asia, this compilation includes Street Fighter Alpha, Alpha 2, Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 and Super Gem Fighter: Mini Mix (the US name for Pocket Fighter). By completing the single player mode of each game additional games unlock including a bonus version of Alpha 3 (which includes all the added home version characters and new fighting styles) along with the new Hyper Street Fighter Alpha. The Japanese version also unlocks a full English version of Alpha 2. Hyper Street Fighter Alpha is a Versus only versions of Alpha 1, 2 and 3 for certain characters. For example the player can choose to pit Alpha 1 Guy against Cody (who's not in 1 or 2) much like Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition. Hyper Street Fighter Alpha also features new ISMs that mimic other Capcom fighting games. One ISM mimics the game mechanics of the Darkstalkers series by adding chain combos and the advancing guard. Another ISM is based off of Street Fighter 3 and includes the parrying system associated with that series. The most surprising, however, is that one of the new ISMs makes some the characters retain all of their move variations from the Marvel vs. Capcom series of video games, despite Capcom legally being unable to release any of the Marvel games into a collection due to the Marvel video games license currently belonging to Activision (However, it should be noted that Monolith Soft did import Tron Bonne and Captain Commando's Marvel vs. Capcom-exclusive moves to the Japan-only Namco x Capcom, which was released after Capcom's Marvel license expired).

The game was released in North America on June 13, 2006 and has so far received mainly positive feedback by fans of the series because of the accuracy of the Arcade conversions, the ability to customise gameplay options (which help to emulate the different revisions of the games that the Arcade cabinets received) and the absence of in-game "load time screens". Also, Alpha 2 Gold has Cammy fully selectable in every mode, including Arcade mode, where she has her own ending.

In the Japanese release, the extra mode versions of Alpha and Alpha 2 were removed from the U.S. release since the extra mode versions first upgrades were carried over to the versions of the game released outside of Japan.

"Guilty Gear X2", X2 Reloded is the x-box version

Guilty Gear is a series of sprite-based fighting games designed by artist Daisuke Ishiwatari and Arc System Works. It is popular with fans for its detailed anime-style graphics, original characters, hard rock/heavy metal soundtrack, unique gameplay, and its numerous references to Rock and Heavy metal music

In the time following Dizzy's disappearance, the mysterious Post War Administration Bureau began to secretly investigate the Gears and the various fighters of the previous tournaments for their own needs and ambitions. Various powers began to work in the shadows to fight for control of the world, with many leads pointing to the creator of the Gears, a mysterious figure known only as "That Man" ("Ano Otoko" in Japanese). Again, the fighters from before find themselves in events beyond their control, most notably at the manipulative hands of a mysterious villainess by the name of I-No, who is revealed to be a servant of That Man for reasons yet unknown.

"Capcom vs. SNK 2:Mark of the Millennium 2001"

there is also a gamecube and x-box version

Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 is a sequel to the fighting game Capcom vs. SNK.

This game was released on NAOMI hardware in the arcade. It was later released for the Sega Dreamcast (Japan only) and PlayStation 2, with the Gamecube and Xbox receiving an updated version called Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 combines characters and gameplay elements from various Capcom and SNK fighting games, mainly the Street Fighter Alpha and The King of Fighters series. Other elements, most noticibly different fighting styles, incorporated elements from other games as well, such as Street Fighter III, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and the Samurai Shodown series.

Contrary to the previous game, characters no longer have a specific "Ratio." The player can select up to three characters in a team and give an amount or ratio (up to four) to each as he/she pleases. In console versions of the game, player can choose a 1 on 1 game (like Street Fighter) or a 3 on 3 game (like King of Fighters) in Arcade Mode with the Ratio System removed.

It's a solid game. It doesn't require as much random button combinations to pull off moves and has a cool counter attack system. But it lacks the quality and depth of other more hardcore fighting games(Tekken, Virtua Fighter). If your a hardcore fighting game fan then you may find the DOA series lacking. It has simple controls and is technically more realistic then other fighting games(No fireballs but some of the cooler moves are somewhat impossible). As in all fighting games the storyline is incomprehensible and stupid. Theres also a few different martial arts types in the game like ninja style, kick boxing, wrestler, military style, etc.

I think the most recent version of the game is DOA4 for the Xbox 360...it has a cool special character, a female Spartan(as from Halo) with levels to match.
Zackeous
most of the games are still regurgitated old fighting games...with a new paint job. VERY few ever have a decent storyline or gameplay for 1 player. I've never found a use for them unless I could find friends willing to play too.

the only fighting game that matters, tekken, has a new instalment in the works (tekken 6) for the ps3. No release date, but if you search for it on ign.com they have a really nice video of jin. Namco is taking thier time with tekken so they can get it done right for the ps3.

I find that xbox is the system of choice for shooters and sports games, nintentdo is the system of choice for roleplaying games, and playstation is the system of choice for racing and fighting games. The wii and the 360 were tempting, esspecially with the easy availability, but i held out for the ps3 becuase im a fighting game type of gamer myself, also i cant wait to kick some ass with King online original.gif

Don't mean to be picky but I could probobly count all of the Gamecubes role playing games using my fingers. Playstation has the roleplaying games, most noteable the core Final Fantasy series. I guess the nintendo systems would be the choice for platform and adventure games.
