This struck me as odd, according to Einstein matter cannot be created or destroyed. So how did the universe come to be if matter cannot be created or destroyed, according to us humans?
artymoon
*german accent "AH HA!! Das is a goot question."

But the only logical explanation or default is the universe is eternal.

No one knows how the universe got started.

According to the Big Bang theory the universe started when a point of infinite density exploded...soposedly that infinite point of density has always bin there.

howa re you defining matter ???Or thinking einstein is???

Isn't matter anything that takes up space?

good enough for me..lol

Matter is a form of energy and is made up mostly of empty space in sub atomic realm. While energy can't be created or destroyed it changes from one form to another. Sunlight turns to plant energy in form of sugars, plant energy turns to cow energy in the form of protein, then turns in to people by way of McDonald's. The Big Bang (if that is how it happen) is example of one form of energy violently converted to another.

I'd like to take this moment out of my day to thank you darkwindy visual boy, for giving me a whole other way to see the Whopper. wacko.gif

Maybe that quandary about matter and the big bang, is that little logic glitch that caused E. to pursue to the end of his days, (without success, sadly enough) the famed and oft lamented; "Theory of Everything". Just a guess. However, I don't understand how , logically speaking , (yeah I'm real fluent in that one):

I think Einstein was seeking to answer that part right there. Because something can't "always have been there". It has to have a genesis, an origin. And if energy can't be destroyed, only re-formed, what gave life to energy for it to possess those characteristics of infinity, as it were.

Good point, like the example, "If there is a building, there must be a builder".

No comments about this? I would like to hear views from different people

Well, maybe the silence means this thread is now evolving a segway into some oft lamented "law of constants" , in that realm of Physics. rofl.gif

There is not a living soul can tell how the universe came about....thatss like asking -whats the meaning of life...no sod really knows, but each one can come up with their own ideas....as for the universe, people have came up with theories but thats it....I couldnt care how it all happened...to me it was always just there lol
