I just watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" last night on TV. And I have to say again that I liked Pirates of the Caribbean part 2 better.

Which one did you like better and why?

I have only seen the first one, and have to say I wasn't ALL that impressed. Nice effects I guess, but not what I expected.

The second one... Is it even worth it?

The first one was the grander film. Part 2, although it has it's moments, are only when Cap'n jack sparrow is on screen. All other parts seemed droned out and pointless almost, because they had almost no life. Plus the ending sucked... and far to much CGI involved which was annoying...

VGcats <<< pretty much sums it all up.

I liked the first better.. If they do come out with a third I hope it doesnt spiral down faster than the second. The first one was better because the characters were being laid out and the momentum to make an impression for the movie was needed. They did that wonderfully with the first, the second one failed to keep the momentum going. Not to mention most of the humor that was in the first was completely ripped out unless it was Cpt. Jack Sparrow, the sad thing is now I think the only thing that's going for this movie is.. of course, Cpt. Jack Sparrow, shame too because I thought it had potiental to be one of the better movies out there. rofl.gif at the VGcat's ... ya .. that basically sums it up. Something offtopic.. but was it me or did anyone else notice a bit of "Cpt. Jack Sparrow" coming out of Johnny Depp in charlie and the chocolate factory ??? I think once an actor takes on a certain role and decides to twist that certain role into other movies.. it hurts their acting career (can we say... Robin Williams ???!!?)

I think you are wrong about JD brining his JS character to CATCF the characters are totally different. I agree the first film was better than the second but I would not call it a bad movie and tbh it seems the second movie is to be spread out over two movies where they go look for JS hence the reintroduction of Captian Barbosa, I wonder is this the honest opinion of you or just some critics that are swaying your view to wards it, I would also like to say when you watch a sequel I would recommend watching without trying to compare it with the first film or ether way 99% of the time one of them are not going to live up to the other. When you watched the first film you have no expectations and it's all new and unseen, in the sequel you know the characters and the plot before so you feel less jubilant.

Meh. disgust.gif The second one was kind of a dissapointment.

Possibly I should rephrase it to.. " did anyone else notice the facial movement os cpt. jack sparrow while watching Johnny Depp in charlie and the chocolate factory ?? "

I'm glad to hear that this was a base for two more movies (I'm assuming that the 4th is in production as we speak then ?)

I'd really love to know who that was directed towards.
BUT if by off chance it was directed to me, I don't pay attention to critics. Besides people that I know personally, I don't read reviews on movies coming out, unless I've never heard of the movie or don't remember the movie then I'll occasionally do a search, read the plot, and wait till I see it at my local movie store that I rent from. I take everything said with a grain of salt, and see for my self. I'm also wondering if you're throwing in that " is this your honest opinion or just some critics that are swaying your view" the Vcats.. comic.. WAS funny you should check it out.

From a film-maker's perspective, the original had a better story and better characterization.
The sequel had more action and comic-relief.

It depends on what you want out of a movie. For myself, when i watch a pirate movie, I'm looking for action and humor. I don't really care that the story stinks. So I have to say I prefer Dead Man's Chest devil.gif thumbsup.gif

I loved the first movie and the second one, I can not wait to see the third!
Johnny Depp is soooo good looking in that movie. I wish I could jump right in there with him! *lol*

Oh dear lord, someone please box that up and send it to me.

I think the movies are GREAT and destined to become a classic trilogy.
The characters are not a bunch of grandious posers like in so many other fantasy movies (Rings) and Captain Jack Sparrow is the first new great classic character to come out to join the slim megastar fantasyfilm ranks of Willy Wonka, Dorothy Gail, Professor Brown, and Mary Poppins in a very long time.

Forever Depp! He has his film immortality now that so many stars wish and dream of and a mountian of accademy awards can never give to them, only the hearts of the people.
