I was wondering if its possible to convert a coaxial TV to composite video. What I want to do is buy a computer monitor to watch TV and movies on instead of a regular TV. The reason i am doing this is because Computer monitors are considereably cheaper than LCD Tv's , plus they are bigger and better quality for the same price. Now I know, there are coaxial to composite video adapters, but I would also need something in order to change channels. I know VCR's can do what I am looking for but Im wondering if something smaller more convient exists out there. Ideally I would like a DVD player that has video input, preferably coaxil, that can also change channels and has HDMI output so I can convert to DVI and hook it up to a monitor.

I found this and it seems to do exactly what I need, the only thing is, I can't seem to find it available(for sale) anywhere in north america.

At least some displays have this built right in. I haven't messed with too many but know we have at least two models at work that have a direct cable connection. One (not sure about the other) also has the three color connections that alot of dvd players, old nintendo, VCRs, camcorders, etc use - I forget what they're called. The best one we have at work is an older model (2 years?) so I'm guessing they are pretty common nowadays. There is probably a big variety of ways to do this though, buying an adapter like that and a cheaper model of LCD might save you some $$.
