I want to know How many people here have seen a ghost. When I was 12 years old I was staying the night with my friend, who lived across the street from me. We were camping out in her backyard. It was about 2 in the morning when she said she was going to use the bathroom. ..........Well I sat there for about 15 minutes then I decided to go see what was taking so long. It was dark and quite and to my surprise I didnt find her in ethier of the bathrooms or her bedroom. I was heading for the kitchen and I happend to look down into the basement while passing the doorway. Beside the very foot of the stairs walking out into the basement was a figure whiteish transparent but more white than clear. Its side was faceing me and I could see the out line of the face and body but no features like hair or clothes. It was walking and I watched it for about 10 seconds it was not just the blink of an eye or some thing I just saw outta the corner of my eye I watched this thing. I even yelled out my friends name at it, and I dont know why cause I knew it wasnt her. I just turned and keept going towards the kitchen. When going through the living room my friend jumped out from the reclyner chair and yelled, she was trying to scare me....lol it didnt. Its strange cause the ghost or what ever it was didnt scare me. I think now I would s*%@ my pants.
It would be cool to hear from others that have had similar or any experieces with the paranormal.

Clover I know this may sound blunt and I don't mean to, but firstly if I was you, I would have to ask what your friend was doing playing hide and seek instead of going to the bathroom.....If it were me I'd just want to have that part cleared up

Umm well that was when I was 12 and I dont see her or talk to her any more, lol. I supose she knew I would come in after her when she didnt return outside. Like I said , she was trying to scare me, something kids often do to each other. Hell I still hide some times and scare the crap outta my husband, its fun you should try it some time.

Yes good and bad, cause I am much more open minded than I think I would have been, but now sometimes I get scared by myself in the dark. I would just rather not see anything else and then sometimes I think I want to, its confusing.

I think its best to leave them alone because we do not know the nature or purpose of these things.

Clover, was the basement light on or was the image luminescent? Did you go down and investigate later?
And most importantly, did you get revenge by telling your friend that her basement was haunted?

There were no lights on but it was fairly bright because of the 2 basment windows and a streat light being right there. It was not glowing. No I never told her , I'm not sure why I didnt....A few weeks later she had a slumber party, we were all supposed to sleep in the basment

. Soon as everyone fell asleep I jetted home.

Anyway back to the topic, was there any other mention of this apparition or any 'spooky' background story?

Well like a year later her mom mentioned when they first moved in she saw a white dress tail dragging across the floor, in the door way to the fancy living room , the one that no one gose in while she was in the kitchen. Thats not similar to what I saw though. I still never said anything maybe out of fear of being doubted, or ridiculed by others.

alright -
when I was in England for a year , I was out with friends near Rowfant in Surrey. ( think a old manor )
in the back are sparse trees which you can see the next feild through all the way down the line. with our backs to those trees and that feild we were walking when I heard hoofsteps - I turned to see the sillouette( it was afternoon) of a horse and rider ( wearing a coat which fell on the back of the horse and wearing a hat) I turned to my friends and said " hey , they have horses here?" and turned back to watch the rider trot his/her horse. Nothing there . nothing in that whole feild or the sparse trees.
nor did my friends see a horse and rider.
what did I see? well it looked real but wasn't there in the amount of time it took me to say " hey , they have horses here?"
nope didn't scare me.

I'd like to know WHO THE HEII has little girls' slumber parties in the dark and scary friggin basement???! That's SO wrong!! Yet it made me snicker when I read it!
Anyway, sound slike a genuine ghost to me. For some reason kids are less afreaid of what we grown folks call "the unknown" *scary music*. That's just the way it is. We must be making ourselves more and more scared as we grow up. That kind of sucks...

The first of the three times I seen something I was pretty young. I would guess about six or so. I was suppose to have gone to bed but you know how the youngin's can be. I laid in bed wide awake playing with anything I could get my hands on. The location of my bed gave a clear view down the hallway into the living area where I watched this figure float in and out of the bay window. It was dark throughout the house but light filtered in through that window via a street lamp outside. After my early teens I started getting into comic books and the only way I can discribe this dood is that he looked like the Green Goblin from Spiderman (The comic not the movie) and sat on what looked like a magic carpet. Funny I know. I just pulled the covers up to my chin and shivered myself to sleep.
The second was a large manish shaped shadow figure with glowing red eyes. Riding home from work with a friend I noticed it just out of the headlights. It seemed to be facing us but as we got closer it just turned and stepped into some trees and was gone. My friend said she never saw it.
The third I woke up one morning facing the wall opposite the window in my bedroom and saw the sillouette of a figure sitting ontop of mine. It was gangly looking with a large bulbous head and was stabbing down at the lump of my own sillouette with an oversized syringe. I know what you're thinking. I was wide awake. =) To the annoyance of my girlfriend at the time I refused to sleep in there for a couple weeks (untill after our house was cleansed), and made the couch my home.

UPDATE:
to lazy to find OP but,,,,, at age 5 or so we were at our weekend camping getaway 1 hour south of Chicagoland when one
night at pre-daybreak I woke up in my upper bunk with a notion to look out the window and was petrified to see an image what looked like an adult with a sheet over his head ! I after registering the vision I ducked under cover and stayed awake till sunup !
what did I see ? was it a prankster trying to get even with the evil incarnate that is barek age 5? or was it my subconscious prossessing the vision as a sheet covered hooligan as not to crowd my fragile eggshell mind?..................B

I've seen lots of spirits in my lifetime, and I'm 38 now. I always thought that if I ever saw a ghost, that it'd scare the bejeezers out of me. But when I saw my first one many years ago, it didn't scare me at all. It piqued my interest actually.

What's even freakier is if you see an apparition and only later you find out that you must have seen a ghost.
That happened to me and my daughter while taking a walk in a wooded area near the Susquehanna river.
It was late afternoon, around 5 or so, when we walked down a relative wide path and saw a young woman walking in the distance, basically coming toward me. Nothing abnormal about that, but for some reason something felt off about her. She wore jeans and a platted men's shirt, had long black hair, looked almost native american or asian.
But before she reached us and passed us, she turned left and went on a smaller path that leads over a hill area.
We weren't far behind when we decided to take the same path. I remember seeing a whisp of black hair and the shadow of her body and as we walked even faster to catch up, there was nothing. It was like she had vanished.
The woody area wasn't dense enough to just being able to hide quickly. The trees had smaller trunks than further down and there were hardly any underbrush, since it was late fall also.
After searching around a bit more, we decided to go back to the car. Of course it was no proof that it was something paranormal, but the feelings we got from the experience and the expressions we received from the encounter were just different. There was something about that girl that we couldn't explain to each other. She felt kind of out of place. Her clothing reminded me of the seventies (which this happened in 2001). And she was alone, but seemed to act as if she was extremely sure of herself. She had no dog with her, no hiking gear. And then to disappear like that she would have to take that hill in olympic runner speed and she clearly didn't look that athletic. She was more on the burly side. It was definitely a weird experience, even if it wasn't paranormal.

i remember seeing something when i stayed at the farnworth inn, in gettysburg. man let me tell you i dont get scared with anything but this made me wanna poop my pants. my ex girlfriend and i were staying there and we stayed in the Jennie Wayed room. we had just came back from running around town taking the ghost tours and what not. it was about 11pm when we got back to the inn, right around 12:30 am or so she falls asleep and im up watching gone in sixty seconds. i pass out with the tv on and i wake up later that night to turn it off and as soon as the lights when out i saw this figure of a women sitting down on a rocking chair that was right accross from me. i was in shock watching it for about 10 seconds it looked over at me put her index finger over her mouth and said "shhh". after that it just faded into nothing. i looked over at my girlfriend and she was just snoring away. haha i can laugh about it now since it was about 2 years ago but if i ever see something like that again i will crap my pants.

My brother and my cousin has seen one. The story on how they ran into this apparition. Me, my brother and a bunch of friends and friend of friends went and visited an old Mennonite church about 40 miles from the city. Don't ask me why we all went. Just our curiosity because one of the guys said they knew this cool location were we can shoot the sh!t. Anways......When we got there, there was a cemetary. Tombstones dating back to 1850's and maybe a few dating back earlier, since the writing on the tombstones were gone due to weather decay. So this is what happened. My friends.... friends who don't have any damn respect for the dead, start kicking down the tombstones and some of them broke. We were so pissed, we took off on the others who were being a$$holes. Later, early morning. Around 4:00am. My brother and cousin were trying to wake me up. They were so scared and very hyper. I didn't want to get up cuz i was soo sleepy and so they woke up my parents. My brother told me that they heard knocking on the enclosure door. It was very loud. They saw a person wearing white 18th century clothing. She/he had long hair and didn't have an expression on her face. There is a two feet drop from the front door to the outter enclosure door. This person may have been floating since it was looking eye to eye with my brother and my cousin. When my cousin saw this, she fell back into the closet behind her and my brother said she had this terrified look on her face and that it froze about 10 secs. My brother was trying to get her on her feet but she was paralyzed. Then after 10secs she came back to her normal self. I heard that the people who actually broke the tombstones had a poltergiest in their home. Don't know if they are still haunted by this.

With this you have to bring in the bible to help you understand. In the bible it is written in the proverbs, 'Do not destroy landmarks.' Tombstones dating back to 1850's and maybe a few dating back earlier are landmarks, 157 year old landmarks. The bible is a spiritual book, if you beleive or not, but that really doesn't matter.

i've seen things also. the ghosts i've seen um.. i think it's only been two times.
first was at one of my ex's house. him and his mom always told me their house was haunted .. i was about 16 and did not believe them though i did believe in ghosts i just thought they were retarded lol until i saw something in their house with my own two eyes.
i went to use the bathroom one night when i was staying over there and when i got to the door some guy was standing there. it was different it was not like a person it was sorta transparent but white at the same time hard to explain. i just stood there like a retard and the guy was just looking at me the same way lol. i desided i did not have to use the bathroom that bad and ran back to my boyfriends room and woke him up and told him about it.
he didn't seem very bothered by it and said "we told you our house was haunted already" i made him stand outside the bathroom door lol.
the second time probably a year ago .. i had had my first experience with false awakenings and had a few aps that night. i got scared from the false awakenings and had gone to sleep on the couch in my apartment b/c it was close to my room mates bedroom door lol.
something woke me up and i remember looking over at the bar and on one of the chairs at the bar there was a guy
sitting there. he looked completly normal and was wearing glasses. it scared the sh** out of me and for probably about 15 secs i just laid there scared to move and was just looking at him and he was stareing at me also. i finally got enough balls to get up and turn on another light and he was just gone.

When I was 7 years old I used to spend alot of time at my great grandmother's house and I would wake up and hear voices from the small living room next to where I was sleeping and would always go back to sleep. Except for this one night curiosity got the best of me and got up and peered into the other room and saw and older woman sitting in front of my grandmother. She was not speeking but was listing to my grandmother, she had a bluish hue around her but she was not transparent. I went back to bed and in the morning I asked my grandmother who this person was that was visitng at such a late hour at first she was reluctant to tell me but she finally said that it was an old indian friend of hers and she left it at that. Later my parents came and picked me up and I told my mother of the incident. My mother told me that she had seen the same woman growing up but that she had died before I was born. This didn't keep me from spending the night again because I felt safe with my grandmother and would hear them from time to time. My grandmother died shortly after and have always found my self thinking back on this incident. Though Ihave incountered things of this nature since then as a child and as an adult.
