I've been noticing recently that I keep getting logged out of websites I'm a member of. Normally it's not a problem, I just log back in but today I was playing Neopets (don't laugh!) earlier and I was suddenly logged out for no reason.

I did notice that my antivirus (AVG 7.5) was running a scheduled check at the time and when I opened it it was running through the registry. Could this be affecting my login status on websites?

Other than the above I run Win XP Pro SP2, IE6, AVG Anti Spyware.

Give Fire fox a go and see if it still happens. (Best browser in the world IMO)

If your antivirus/antispyware is deleting cookies then that would log you out. Check to see just what it is doing and see if you can tell it to leave cookies for certain sites.

AVG antivirus doesn't delete cookies, but the spyware removal tool that they released for free may. Malware removal tools often do, as well as Windows disk cleanup tool if you have anything like that set to run automatically or have run them recently.

Now if I can figure out what's causing my browser to submit a post twice, but load up showing "this page cannot be displayed",........ RAWR!!!!

The logout thing happened again just now. I'd just finished reading thru the Ghosts section and had loaded up the main forum to go to the Mysteries of Mind section. I clicked that section and I'd been logged out for no reason again. Antivirus wasn't running a check this time so it's not that.

Someone suggested IE7 to me but I'd like to hear some feedback from IE7 users first. Unsure about Firefox as I've never used it - can I run it alongside IE?

Edit: I don't think it's cookies any more, as it only affects login status and once I'm logged back in everything is remembered as normal...
