P.S. As a child in San Diego, I was terrified of my mother's ceramic San Diego Chicken piggy bank. It was way wrong.

This got me to thinking. When I was a child I always had a fear of the dark (very common one) & of all things..silence. blink.gif I always had a really super hard time of things being too still or too quiet. I can clearly remember one summer night, I was about 7, the night was TOO STILL & TOO QUIET. I would not even close my eyes. Too creepy.

Also closet doors being left open when I went to bed. I think that's because my brother used to like to hide in them & then jump out at me when I'd go to close them! ph34r.gif JERK!

There was also a ceramic vase that my grandma had sitting in her kitchen window that used to bug me a lot. It was of a woman's head..kinda like this:

I didn't like the way she stared at me! She always seemed so freakin' smug as she watched me do different chores for grandma & knew if I was slackin'! Creep ole hag!

When I was a kid, I was scared of a octopus toy thing, I don't know why.
I would really have nightmares about that thing, and wouldn't even go into a room if it was there. unsure.gif
My parents told me "we gave it to your aunt" one day, but... I bet they just hid it. =P
FLY SPITTA
When I was real little I was afraid of this monster toy thing my brother had...I don't know why but it was scary to me back then! Plus I was afriad of the window being open for some reason I always thought that something would get me ahaha! rofl.gif Guess we all got those childhood fears.....

What scared me the most as a child, was my Mom dying .. one of the biggest fears of childhood, losing a parent.

I used to be scared of the movie The Exorcist and this doll from The Trilogy of Terror.

I always worried about being possessed.

The doll from the movie:

Hmm..Well the dark and wasps are the only fears I can think of..I once stepped on a wasp thats why. wacko.gif

I was scared of many things. Being alone at home, darkness, amusement parks(carousels, because they are MECHANICAL, just like robots, and I was very scared of robots too, theyre unpredictable)... and sculptures. Well, statues of people. My father is a sculptor, so we used to go to the exhibitions sometimes, and it was creepy... sculptures are TOO STILL AND TOO QUIET, as glynne said. But they look like people. That's why you look at them and WAIT for something to happen... blink.gif We had (still have) two sculptures at home, a head and a male's figure, I used to have nightmares about them and was afraid even to look at them or to touch. I will post a picture of them a bit later, for you could imagine what I felt wink2.gif

I was afraid of the dark and aliens. The show sightings would come on as a child and I would get really scared. But I always watched it anyway. I didn't sleep much on those nights.
m. Moe
I was terrified of an alien invasion. Probably because my dad would let me watch X Files with him.

When I was a little kid I was scared of the disney movie Peter Pan...I have no idea why. It's weird because I use to watch Child's Play(Chucky) all the time and just laugh.

I'm am terrified of rats. Why? When I was about 5, I watched a scarey movie, can't remember the name, but this lady was in this creepy house, and got caught by these guys and they chained her to a chair and put a cage a hungry rats on her head and they ate her head till there was only the skull left. That really freaked me out.

As a child I was less scare of things then now, but my curiosity has always been greater than my fear. I also have a great imagination. I was the kid when exploring a abandon house at night always went the opposite way or wander myslef to try to be scare, but I am a curiious child. I have alots of brothers and sisters, a lot of them. When I was little I loved to make up stories. sometimes my stories would end up scaring me too.
For example; once we were all out at my grandpa's country house, he had alot of land. In his deep woods he had this pond that was all wild, the woods growing wild around it. We all were sitting at the pond one day, it was kinda eerie place. I started to asked my brothers and sisters did grandpa ever told them about the pond creature that came out at night killing people to feed off. Everyone laught and say no and I was full of it, so i started to tell them a story, just let my imagination go. there was this old car that we all called the "ghost car" it was a quarter stuken into the ground, like to the gas petals etc. My grandpa brought the land over 65 years ago, and this car was there when he brought it, it was infront of a tree (maybe crash, no one really knows why that car is there in the middle of the woods), so I put it in my story how the pond monster got them and why grandpa didn't tell us because he thought we wouldn't come and visit him anymore. It was a long story I told, very detailed. But I said it makes a screaming noise when it is hunting and to never leave the window or doors opens and how it hid in shadows. Well, everyone was kinda laughing at me and it was more of a nervos laught. Well later that night we all had to go to bed upstairs, in this attic part that was kinda made into a room. That night some animal was making this screaming noise and we all starting screaming it is the pond creature (I was about 7) I starting to believe it too, even though I was the last too, everyone else was convince my story was true, i knew I made it up but there really was something screaming not really a howling sounds but a high pitch screaming sound. So we all ran down stairs scared to death that it was coming to get us because we were throwing rocks in it's pond, we awoken the creature, part of my story. The adults try to tell us it was a coyota or raccoon or something, but we didn't believe it. I got in trouble for irresponsible scaring everyone including myself. And My mom knew just who to blame for this too.

Clowns. Ronald McDonald. Micheal Jackson (After he kinda faded in color.)
Neith
When I was between 2 and 5 I was scared of clowns. I remember one time when I was 5 there was a guy dressed up like ronald mcdonald at the mcdonalds drive through and I started screaming. On the subject of fear I was just thinking about something last week, my daughter who is 8 wouldnt go in the kitchen by herself cause it was dark. A lot of adults even get scared of the dark some times. I just wonder if this is a result of scary movies, maybe fear of the unkown cause you cant see, or something deeply imbedded in our unconscious that we are unaware of. Just a thought.

Seems strange now, but at 3yo, I was terrified that there were crabs at the bottom of my bed, ready to nip my toes!

I had all the usual ghosts and monsters stuff after that, but after watching Salems lot at 10 yo, I made myself a crucifix from lego and slept with the light on.

w00t.gif That's great! Funnily enough I watched the 70's version of Dracula with Frank Langella and I wanted a crucifix. We weren't Catholic and so we didn't have one so I was like you and improvised until I convinced someone to buy me a cheap one.

And I had really long hair and I was afraid for any bit of it to hang off the bed because I thought that something from under the bed would grab it.

Oh, I remember that movie, with Michael Caine, right??

My childhood fear was of the dark, and of water. I think my fear of the dark stemmed from the fact my mom never left a nightlight on in our room so we could see. It was always pitch black in that room. I had nightmares and still do sometimes about the room in that house at night, although they have not been as frequent. And my fear of water I think stems from pastlife trauma.

I hate China dolls, and those semi-detached houses with the two front doors close together. I was told by my sister that as a kid I refused to enter the property, since then I don't go near them - havent really had any reason to, but I always get a funny feeling in my stomache when I pass them.
And the China dolls well... I ain't going near those. What was worse was that my sisters attic was full of them, and I had to bring down a few boxes - she was pregnant with my nephew at the time. That was evil... and earlier before that my room was being decorated so I had to stay in my sisters room - she was at her new house - and the shelves were stocked with the dolls... so I slept in the bath...

Dark attics and basements.

I bought the house my Grandparents owned when I was growing up. My sister came over to help me do some work down in the basement one day when the phone rang. I was about to run upstairs to get it and I noticed she looked at me kind of funny. Not two seconds after I answered the phone I noticed her standing right behind me! She said that basement still gave her the willies, no way she was staying down there alone. There was even one of those gigantic converted coal furnaces like in "The Burbs", definately spooky.

The house my Aunt lives in was where I grew up and I feel the same way about the basement there. The house has one of those half walls where all there is behind there is dirt for whatever reason, but it's creepy. There are all kinds of scary stories of the house too, like my relatives talk about getting the feeling that someone holding you down while you sleep and hearing someone pick up the phone downstairs when you're on the upstairs line and you're the only one at home.
Lady_Anvilabeel
The dark and water for me. It's the pitch dark, I still can't sleep in a pitch dark room and have to have my door open a little bit happy.gif

I got over my fear of water as a kid. I know where it stemmed from but it's too stupid to go into..

I believe the one they are talking about is The Hand with Michael Caine because Idle Hands is way too recent of a film to have scared someone as a child, isn't it?

Here's a link, it came out in 1981.

So I guess you're not huge fans of the film Dark Water.

Not if he was born in 1982. tongue.gif

I used to be scared of everything when I was younger. The dark, heights, flying, deep water, china dolls (my cousins always used to tell me urban legends about them) etc. Ever seen the film "Look who's talking too?", because of that film I was scared of my friends' freaking toilet for a week. no.gif

I haven't got any fears now, though.

Nah, Idle Hands was funny! It's a cult classic! I watch it from time to time, with a beer or 3. It has Jessica Alba in it. So I kinda doubt any guy would find that movie too creepy. laugh.gif

I was & still am afraid of the dark. Because I don't like not knowing what's lurks in the darkness. And the power went out one night while I was around 4. And it was a thunderstorms. That also made me hate/scared of thunderstorms. disgust.gif

No, The Hand came out in 1981. Idle Hands didn't come out until 1999.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the movie that came out in 1981.

Where is he anyway??
