I touched on this as a reply to a "sleep paralysis' thread posted in this forum I have had some instances of an uneasy "bad vibe' sort of feeling in certain places one of witch could be easily dismissed just based on the the creepy nature of the location but it is the most pronounced I can recall, for those of you in the USA you are probably familiar with the Fox series "Prison Break" this series was filmed in the Joliet Correctional center in Joliet Illinois(now closed)that I spent a considerable amount of time working as a technician during some of its remodeling .the nature of the work sent me to all areas of the prison (including ones occupied by real inmates not actors!)as well as a satellite building across the street called the annex that was originally constructed around the turn of the century to serve as a women's prison ..well in the basement of this building there is a very small cell with a tiny barred door about waist high that was used as an isolation or"seg"(segregation )for the female prisoners that misbehaved(i later found out that there were rumors of these ladies being the victims of regular abuse by the guards of the era)anyway one day my task at hand led me to this notorious area (with a coworker)and we noticed one of the small cell doors...
As I moved in for a closer look I got this overwhelming feeling of dread or like a bad energy is the best I can describe it ..it was almost like years of psychic trauma had been hewn into the stone wall of the structure that comprised the building material used to fashion the "medieval castle "style prison this one was designed to resemble (the beginning of "The Blues Brothers"has a good shot of the main building)..anyway the only way I can describe it is just a negative energy..I looked at my coworker a very Joe six pack kind guy and said "do you feel that ?" and his response was "yeah I do!"though we didn't discuss it later and he didn't bring it up again ,It wasn't till weeks later that I leaned about the lore surrounding that basement being the site of abuse I have felt this sensation in other environments as well just simple empty rooms or basement that weren't aesthetically "creepy" at all at there were many times that I was alone in super creepy places and felt nothing at all I am especially interested in the stone style bricks in the prison as I believe there may be something to the residual haunting theory ,much the way an audio impression back can be played back perhaps psychic impressions can be left on certain materials and all the construction and electrical work being done (a lot of new electrical conduit nears basement cell area)could have released this "imprint" even louder . Now have I considered that I may have been feeling an EM field in the proximity of the new electrical work?..yes I have but I also know that there was something ominous about this sensation the same as the presence I have felt in the recurring sleep aralias dreams I have(dark foggy presence etc.) ..any suggestions or comments? am I a fledgling psychic or budding schizophrenic ? (not to mention a run-on-sentancer)..............BH

I had a friend who's mother worked there for several years. She was convinced it was haunted. I haven't talked to the friend in about 15 years, but remember her mom would tell us stories about doors closing and items disappearing and reappearing elsewhere. I don't believe she ever told us what area she worked in, but I know she was a guard of some sort. Sorry, I know it's not much, but at least you're not the only one that thinks that place isn't quite right.

To answer your question, IMO, I don't think you're a schizophrenic at all by what you say (you speak with some reasoning). I do think you are a sensitive though. I have felt that very same overhwleming sense of dread/doom in places---
Anyway, you lost me on the SP part... what does the sleep paralysis have to do with this particular place? Or doesn't it?

IMO you've answered your own question, residual energy being sensed/felt under the right conditions. I find it interesting that you feel an EMF and your electrical work could have been part of the conditons in unleashing this.

I agree with your theory that it was probably EMF's but it also could have been infrasound. It also makes you feel like that.

The reason that I mentioned the SP is that it started around the same time I started getted the bad energy sensation therfore I added it to mix I do tend to ramble on so it is easy to see why that confused you ... BH

Thanks to all of you for this input ! I am really getting a better feel for what may be an actual experience and what may be my somewhat overactive imagination ,the act of verbalizing these seems to have conjured up even earlier childhood incidents one of witch involved a weekend camping trip with my family at around age 5 or so ,we would often spend weekends in a campground in our trailer where I would sleep in a upper bunk towards the front ,with a small crank -open window at the side ,anyway I remember waking up very early in the morning(just before sunrise) and looking out this tiny window only to terrified by the specter of a ghostly image standing at the edge of our campsite it almost looked like someone wearing a sheet over their head as a makeshift Halloween costume ,this was not a case of SP but it seemed like I was awakened by design and compelled to look out the window ,upon viewing this apparition I immediately cranked the window shut and buried my head under the covers until I either noticed full sunrise or someone else woke up , I never told anyone in my family about it as my older sister would have teased me relentlessly(they were visibly in the trailer and asleep at the time so no it wasn't them playing a prank)I later dismissed it as a dream as way to suppress the terror I felt as a child but the image remains very clear, this would be my earliest recollection of something that may have been a paranormal experience and it differed greatly from the SP incidents that have been the most recent .anyway thanks all

It'd be very easy to test the EMF and infrasound hypotheses. Just bring in some equipment that's meant to detect those things.

You may also test the residual energy hypothesis. Go touch the stones and see what images come to you. See if you can verify or falsify any of the info you get.

Or try some psychometry on other objects. Have people bring you objects made of stone or other materials and see if you can "read" them accurately. Either you can, or you can't, and you'll find out which.

You don't seem schizophrenic though.

though mytake on it is that conditions for this to occur are so presise that trying to do a controlled study this way may prove inconclusive who knows what factors have to be just right if the earth was a mile farther from the sun it would be a rock(may slow global warming tho!).........B.
