I just wanted to know what other people thought, but based on my own experience i think i know which is strongest
cleo_patra45
Have you ever witnessed this type of magic? No offence but who are you to say that you know which "magic" is more powerful??? :s9
Kira
:s6 Forgive me for saying this but as a practising wiccan, all forms of elemental and spiritual magic are powerful in their own right, when used correctly and with great deal of respect.

Can I also ask why u wish to know this, and what particular one you think is strongest in your experience?
Just interested to know :s09
ganondorf13
I wish to know this for my own reasons and my selected type is my business
crosis
ooooooooOOOOOOOoooooooo
Druss
Following your example ganondorf I think I will keep my thoughts on the subject to myself.

:s3
Dakoda
Capital idea Druss!  :s2
Kira
;D :s2 After that reply from ganondorf13.
it might be best to not post in this thread at all.

just my humble opinion. :sn
Magikman
So Dorf, the reason for starting this poll is? If you don't wish to be forthcoming to asked questions, what's the purpose? Don't expect cooperation if you refuse to participate in the discussion.

Celti - No doubt at 13 he possesses all the knowledge he requires.  :-/  No reason to befuddle his mind with our thoughts, is there?  ???

Magikman
Kira
:sr AHHH  ;D
cleo_patra45
Good oppinion celta, I do quite agree with you on that magic post you put.

Magikman, please forgive ganondorf13, though I too think that there was no reason to put that topic if he didn't want any honest oppinions..........
ganondorf13
im sorry if i sounded rude i really meant to know what your opinions were about the elements not so much as magic and i didn't tell anyone my opinionbecause i know that people will dissagree if it is an element or not
Mystify
Ganon....

Don`t be afraid of asking the questions unless you have something to hide. If you are intrested in the magical arts, many of our forum users know quite a bit and would be more than willing to give you some insight given the proper info.
Where`s the harm in trying?  Give it a shot...
ganondorf13
ok mystify the element that i chose was electricity but i didn't yell anyone because i know many people that think that electricity is not even an element
cleo_patra45
Electricity? Good thinking....... I wonder if you're right. ;D
alpha_wizard
i dont think the strongest element is electricity it is strong but if you took away electricity we could still live but if you took away earth or water we all die ;D
cleo_patra45
yes good point Alpha, but then again, I think that the question being asked was different from the one you have answered. True, we can live without eletricity and we can't without water but isn't dorf asking what the strongest kind of power is? I may be 75% wrong on this..so you might as well ignore this messege. :s5
Althalus
personally, i think that magic is a natural phenomenon that exists in everything, it can be accessed by humans that can tap into this natural force.  the different types are all equal, there is not one kind that is stronger than another, because that would throw the balance.
they can do different types of things to the human body for instance the earth energy/magic, can if someone stands around megaliths or standing stones, can and have caused the people to have visions and see things that are not detectable by humans ordinarily.  I think that the ancients, the ones that uilt the megalithic statues and things like circles knew about the earth energies, and the others and tried to use it, hence the stronger influences it has on humans near them.

anyway it is just my idea.
Mystify
Actually Al... I think you've hit it right on the money. They are all equal. But as well....It all depends on which one YOU or WE personnaly develop or understand more that makes it stronger to the user.
In general... they are all the same in my opinion.
SpaceyKC
'if someone stands around megaliths or standing stones, can and have caused the people to have visions'

Al,  That's a fascinating fact!  I wish I could try it out!   :)
Althalus
most of the people that have had the visions as a result of being by them for too long, find that the visions are nasty and can cause the person to be afraid.
SpaceyKC

In that case,  glad I didn't do that!  ;D
            Thanks Al!
PurpleStuart
Al, have you any accounts of these visions?
PurpleStuart
oh yeah i'll try and get pixieassassin to post on this thread as magic is her strong point, not mine
crosis
I was at stonehenge last week and i did hang around for quite a while taking photo's but i didn't get any "visions".I'm not sayingthat i don't beleive that it can happen.
Its probably down to the fact that noone could get within 50 yards of the stones.

:sq
Kira
crosis? did the photos come out all right?
reason why I ask is that the last time i went there i had a few pics took in front of it and none of them came out, the rest of the flms was fine, as wetook pics elsewhere. I did ask if the film was faulty they assured me it was not. :s01

Well see, I knew there was a reason I liked this gal.  :sk  :sk  :s02  :D

*BTW - how's her friend, the vampire chickie? *drool*

Magikman  :)
crosis
celti,

Yes my photo's came out fine but i did use a digital camera (not a very good one mind you.)

The one that i took of my wife infront of the stones was a bit dark, but i think that was the light.
I have to admit was that i was getting chest pains from paying the entrance fee but when i got closer to them i started to feel very calm so much so that i was there so long i filled my flash card and the staff had to ask us to leave when they closed the visitors centre.
I would recomend visiting to anyone.

did you see any faces in the stones while you were there.Random patterns or otherwise.???
:sq
Kira
:st MAGIK!!! you'll explode again if you get too excited  :s2

crosis, lol yeap I know what u mean a friend that was there at the same time, said all his came out quite dark when it was a really sunny day.
I manged to get inside the circle and I didn't see any pictures/faces on the stones, but when I put my hand on the 'slaughter' stone. I felt as if I'd come home :s9, and I had a tingling in that hand, all the way down my back, still sends shivers now :s9
crosis
Come home.................. :s9.
Remind me never to upset you. ;D

Any idea what the stone close the road was.???
(Sighting stone maybe.)

this one.
Kira
:o WHAT..... Why?  ;D

No I'm not sure what that one is.
Why do u ask? I know it looks very similar to the Devil's seat stone at Avebury. :s01
crosis
Just wondered if you knew anything about the stone as i dont know why it isn't on the picture that is painted on  the wall at the end of the entrance tunnel.

Althalus
a couple of the cases, involving people getting a sense of dread, and feeling frightened was written up in Fortean Times a while ago.
dalia
I would think that electricity would be included in the element Fire.

Good post Al !

I believe we all have some afinity for one or more elements. Maybe it has to do with horoscopes and the elements that the planets are placed in within our natal charts.

alpha_wizard: In reply to something you said about we could live without electricity, I have to disagree. All humans have small electrical impulses coursing through the body and without them we would die. In my opinion Earth is the strongest element. :s02
Homer
Ablaze,
I don't think thats what alpha_wizard meant by living without electricity. But since the earth itself is made up of electricity as well, does that mean without it the earth would also die? Nikola Tesla tried to access the earths electrical energy as a source of free energy. I know that has nothing to do with the thread, but I thought I would add that anyways.
Ablaze
Duly noted. Interesing fact about Nikola Tesla as well. :s02
Dakoda
Sorry if I'm a bit late on this one, but I can't help but ask over the disputes about magic that went on in this thread... what do you guys all define magic as, anyway? :s9

ganondorf13 listed stuff like fire, water, electricity, ice, and earth in his poll, but wouldn't the occurances that resulted from the existance of those earthly elements simply be classified as "natural phenomenons"? Unless modified or munipulated with, these are all authentic resources--or is human munipulation what makes them regarded as magical?

But can someone fill me in on where the word "magic" comes into play? I'm honestly quite lost within that interpretation! :s01 :-/
Althalus
I would have thought, that Magic is the natural energy that we all find around us - to put quite simply, it is life - when people talk about magic as being related to earth, fire, water and so on, what they mean is that if you are better at things like dowsing, or locating things using rods or something like that, then you are better at earth magic, but if you can easily tell what the weather is going to do soon, like say have a gut feeling that the weather will turn to rain and it does, then the magic you are more closely affinitied to is water.

As I said before all magic is equal, and only people's uses of it and intuitions/strengths in each element is what makes us stronger in any given one.

Elrectricity could also be called spirit, and people who can use this, are the people who can heal with their hands, or people who can contact the dead/ mediums.

Good gardeners can use Water and Earth energy to help the crops or garden grow.

The other thing is that although people use this type of energy usually all the time, they do not know they are using it, take farmers for instance their crops are always nearly perfect and they always know exactly when to plant them, and when to harvest.

Dakoda
Ohhhhh! I see now!  :sr

My guess was completely out of proportion... I wasn't being open enough--couldn't come up with any other mental image besides magic under a circus tent! :s2

Is that basically what the Celestine Prophecy is about? I've made two attempts to read that book, but have never made it through to the end.  :-/

Thanks Al!  :)
Kira
Hi Dakoda, will post later what my interpretation of Magic is.... as a wiccan. *smile* beena bit of a day here
But i will post it if u feel it could be helpful to ypur understanding :se

Magic is:not just something that you just do or just spell that you make.
Magic is something that u do with and in copperation with the forces that surround you: once you have the connection to it.
And that connection with all the forces of Nature, humanity etc are there for you, helping you, guiding you healing you and empowering you. it also can help to make you seem wiser than your years.
Magic is like a dance it needs two to share the joy and the passion, sadness and loss. Once you  have connected wioth it<whatever deity or name you wish to give it> You will never feel alone again.
this is just a personnal point of view. :s6
I hope this helps a little
CW
Dakoda
Hmmmmm....

*thinks very hard* :s07

So magic can be the internal power within a person, a spiritual motive or force, the energy within a plant, tree, water (etc.), and/or the different effects or appeal that nature has on the mind, body, and soul? :s9

About the conection... (correct me if I'm wrong :-/): So is that why a place with more energy/magic, like a forest, mountain, beach makes a person feel renewed, and at ease because it is a quiet place everything thrives in harmony, and a forest possesses more energy that you would feel within a city? (if you would feel any at all)

I really, really think your opinion helped me, but if you still think I have a very vague understanding, perhaps it's because I've lived in big cities most of my life?  :P
Kira
No Hun you got the principle of it bang to rights.

If u got out of a city, u will feel renewed because you have gone some where diffrent where all is in harmony with each other and u become a part of it. :sk
Dakoda
So I get the basic concept now, right?  :D

Thanks so much, CW!  :st

Darkness is my favourite element or then fire
Dark Lord
I think there r the basic elements, earth, air, fire, water, light and darkness and these r the ones that u cant live without and they need all need to be in balance (air-earth, fire-water, light-darkness) and then there r smaller elements like electrisity what aren't nesecary( im not sure if u write it that way)
