This incident happened in 2003 when I was about 23 years old. It all started one day when I came down the stairs from my bedroom early one morning and had my sister ask me if I had left the side French doors open. I remember saying no and thinking nothing of it. My sister on the other hand was getting a little freaked out because this had been reoccurring for the last two weeks and she said nothing about it to us. She just ended up putting a chair in front of the doors and that seemed to do the trick. Keep in mind these French doors come with two locks, one on the top of the door that locks into the frame and another which connects both doors together.

It was not for about 1 month after the French door incident when we figured out what had possibly happened. You see, one night I came home from a trip and walked in through the front door only to see my family all sitting on the couches with a weird look on there faces. I honestly thought something bad had happened and I was prepared for the worse. My mother told me to sit down and that they needed to tell me something. I sat down. That's when they told me that my sister had just seen a ghost. My heart stopped and I was speechless. They went on to tell me that my sister had heard my nephew screaming on the top of his lungs. She then ran into his playroom and saw a lady leaving through the other door in the bedroom. My sister only saw the back of a long red dress and a ladies arm as it left through the door. My sister thought it was my mom and called for her then proceeded to follow her out the door. But when my sister exited the playroom she saw nothing. A few minutes later after consoling my nephew, she went into my mom's bedroom only to find my mom laying down watching TV. My sister then asked my mom if she had been in the playroom and my mom said no. That's when my sister knew it was a ghost she had just seen in the bedroom and that's why my 2 yr old nephew was screaming and crying.

When I heard that, all of these things went through my head and I thought back on all of the weird incidents which had happened to me around the same time. Such as, my TV turning off in the middle of the night, at that time I thought nothing of it. I just figured I had rolled on the remote while sleeping. Also, I do remember seeing those French doors always open in the morning. It could be my mind playing tricks on me or it could have been related to the ghost.

That's not the end of it. You see, I'm real big on ghost stories and watching/reading stories of ghost hauntings. I remembered watching an episode on unsolved mysteries and how antique furniture and personal items can have the previous owner attached to it spiritually. Anyways, after a few days after this incident, I wanted to know who this ghost was and why she was here. I asked everyone in my house if they had been to the cemetery lately or if they had purchased anything from a yard sale? Everyone said no. But that was not the truth. A week later we all found out that my mother indeed had purchased an item a yard sale. Of all things, she purchased a crucifix. She did not want to tell me because she knew we would all be mad. The only reason I found out is because she told my dad and he had told me only because he knew why the ghost had came. He also knew that I was going crazy on finding out the truth and also that I refused to sleep in the house anymore. I had gone to stay with my girlfriend. Call me a *****, but I felt scarred to sleep in my room upstairs by myself knowing there was a ghost. So back to the crucifix, out of all places to hang it, she chose to hang it on our FRONT DOOR! After hearing that, I remember being furious. My mom, I love her to death but she is so stubborn. She did not ever admit that by her hanging that crucifix on the door, is what caused this ghost. It was like her opening our door to our house for that spirit, literally.

But wait, it gets better. I ended up asking my mom what house did she buy it from and she had said it was my other sister's neighbor from across the street. I called my sister and asked her about the neighbor, she said that she had passed away about three months ago prior to our very first incident and I guess her children must have been selling her things at the yard sale. When I heard that, my sister and I both knew it had to have been her. Well anyways, we ended up calling my sisters priest and he came over and blessed our house. We have had no encounters or incidents from that day on. It was a very scary story back than, but now I enjoy sharing it with people because it just goes to show how little incidents and stories came together like a puzzle and I'm glad that I figured out what it was and why it was there.

Very interesting incident that you experienced. Did this spirit attacked anyone in your family? Did your sister have any type of contact with this person before she passed? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I find it hard that an evil person would be attached to the crucifix. Let us know more including history of this person before she passed.

IMO and In all respect to whatever your belief/culture is, I do not think the crucifix 'brought' the ghost/spirit into your home. I think you're being harsh blaming your mum for hanging it on the door hmm.gif

Ghosts and spirits can appear for numerous reasons, For example it could be a connection to the house or land. I detect that you consider the experience as negitive or at least consider ghosts/spirits as negitive things to experience, but I don't think this is always the case. This experience doesn't sound in the least bit negitive and I think it's a pretty cool encounter you all had original.gif

You know, for the most part i dont think that spirits are evil or negative, although there are such entitys out there that i do beleive to be negative. However, this particular spirit i dont think to be. i know i shouldnt have blamed my mom, but i just find it hard to believe that she would buy a crucifix at a yard sale blink.gif . it was not an ordinary crucifix, i was told that it is the type of crucifix they hand out to the family in a catholic church when someone passes away. anyways, i too think it was a very cool expericence and what ever caused this spirit to be present at my home, well i guess i'll never know the real answer but it does make a cool story though, dont cha' think? grin2.gif

No, the spirit never attacked anyone in the family. my sister was the only one who actually seen it and my little nephew. I dont know if she had any contact with that person before she passed, thats a good question; i'll definently follow up on that. I too, believe this spirit not to be negative, but just wonder why it showed up at my home. Thanks for the message thumbsup.gif

Loop, i was just thinking...did you ever ask your Mum why she bought the crucifix? I just wonder if there is a reason why she felt she needed one or whether it was something she saw and felt drawn to - so impulse buy....the fact she hung it on the front door suggests she may have been worried about something or noticed activity before anyone else did? It's just to me, hanging one on a door is deff statement of protection of somesort hmm.gif

Loop, I think maybe your mom had already experienced something that she felt she needed to place that crucifix by the door for protection, but she never mentioned it to the family so no one would be frightened about it.

^^ Yeah, that sounds about right to me.

Wow thats an amazing story. I think you should continue to trust your instincts, as you did. Sounds like you did a great job of getting rid of an unwanted spirit!

And here I'd been packing mine and wearing this garlic rope around my neck to keep you at bay. Back to the drawing board.
