Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all? Suspicion of anything foreign.

Oh and...... Only in Britain... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

Only in Britain... do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in Britain... do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET coke.

Only in Britain... do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.

Only in Britain... do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.

Only in Britain... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

Only in Britain... are there disabled parking places in front of a skating rink. (We might be British but hell we've got a sense of humour!!)

I've seen these - though this is the shorter list I've seen - but with America instead of Britain. The pizza one seem's more American, hell it take's 30-40 minutes for me to get my pizza and I don't even live more than 5-10 minute car drive away from Pizza-hut/dominoes(sp?)

Some of that applies to America too tongue.gif

No one gets more bass ackwards than the USA...

Hmmm Not True!!
It takes a good hour for our pizza to be delivered, which is again 10 minutes away, while our ambulances can be here with 15 minutes, and they live 12 minutes away (that is, when you follow the speed limit. That they quite obviously do not)

I would have thought that ordering a Double cheeseburger with a diet coke would have been more of an American thing also...we dont have those down under. We enjoy our lovely "double beef and bacon cheeseburgers" with a diet coke.
Its in the details.

I've seen this before too about others. But finally for once I'm gonna say something about the diet coke one.

Did you know that diet coke is a different flavor than regular coke and that most people prefer the taste of diet coke? Its not really about the calories!

Snopes has more:

Alot of those things can be applied to Americans. The diet coke thing expecially.

grin2.gif .. Funny and quite true, no matter where you're from, you can relate.
