Have you ever had a dream where you were actually injured or killed?

If you have, what did you feel?
Opus Magnus
I don't remember having a dream where I've actually died, but I have felt physical pain in my dreams. I've been stabbed and shot before. I've had things attack me and I actually felt the pain, it hurt pretty bad.

Kind of emphasizes on mind over matter.

On another note, I've had dreams where I have been drinking and actually have gotten drunk. Not just acting drunk in the dream, but I felt drunk.

Something that is also interesting, one time after taking some valium to go to sleep I entered lucid dreaming. The only problem was I was disoriented while lucid dreaming and couldn't walk straight and I slurred w00t.gif

I've had dreams where these faceless people placed tubes in my head, and sucked my brains out.. I could watch my brains go thru the tubes... I felt the sting of the needles when they went into my head, and the strong pressure like my head was going to implode when they turned the machine on to suck my brains out....

I've had several dreams where I've felt physical pain. One recently where a shark bit my foot lol. I've always found dreams facinating, how they can be so realistic you feel that it really did happen.

I have quite a few where the experience carries over once I've woke up.. but most of the time if I'm hurt in a dream, I am left in shock or amazement with no feeling at all within the dream and it never carried over into reality. I've woke up very angry before from a couple of them before, ready to fight.. but the emotion leaves after about 30 minutes (talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed.) There has been one, where my stomach was slashed open, and I woke up with a stomach ache. Got my butt kicked in a couple and woke up feeling very drained from the experience, light I had been fighting my bed sheet and pillows. I was screaming in a dream, I actually woke up with a scream. Oh, and the one I can't live down from hubby... when I was pregnant, I was having a dream that someone was running up to me and the feel of the dream was that we were about to fight.. hubby said he woke up, because I kept pushing on him and he was about to fall out of the bed.. so when he tried to wake me up I pushed him in his face and completely knocked him out of bed. I don't really remember pushing him out of the bed.. but the person who was staying with us that night woke up because he landed on the nightstand and broke it. I definitely "woke up on the wrong side of the bed." that day.. I never was a "good" morning person though. original.gif Though I have never died in a dream, and I haven't met anyone who said they have died in a dream.

agony - no, never... I rarely feel in dreams at all. Very rarely I feel a touch. A few days ago I dreamed that someone stabbed a key to my back. I felt really strong pressure, and I fell down because of pain, but I didn't feel pain really. I just knew I should feel it, so I fell down. It was like a game, acting...

I've had a couple of very vivid dreams where I've died, I think of them as maybe past life dreams because they had that feel about them. In my main one I was shot with an arrow which slowed down my running, then I was hit with a little axe thing above my eyes so that the blood went into them and I couldnt see. I remember that hurt and as I was trying to clear the blood out to see something else hit me, which dropped me to the ground and I couldnt feel my body at all after that which I remember being thankful for. I just lay there looking at the blood that was on the grass near my eyes thinking that it was good that I couldnt feel anything and that it was almost over. I actually felt quite happy and I felt like I had done what I had meant to do. I felt freedom kinda. I was choking on blood though and I remember tasting it. I think something went through my neck then I think someone lifted my head up just briefly and cut my throat.. I'm not sure because I couldnt move of feel a thing and I could only half see, and I mainly saw the grass and the feet of my brothers as they came around me. They were the ones who killed me because I went a different way kinda, and I did some bad things before I left. Only I got caught red handed and killed for it. But yeah in the end it wasnt so bad.. I mainly had the taste of blood but not alot of pain because it was pretty quick, I remember feeling pretty close to God at the time too because it was almost peaceful because I was so numb.

I kinda look at my family alittle differently now because of that dream though I guess. It was pretty full on and I was kinda annoyed by my brother for ages because I think it was his arrow which hit me first.

Ive had lots of dreams that have ended in me dying. Ive even had 2 dreams that I was sent to hell, and in one of those, I was sent by God himself.

Kinda like Dante's Inferno?

Sorry, dont know what that is...
Opus Magnus
It's a classic book of fiction. The angel of death I believe took this guy Dante, who was a sinner by nature, on a trip through hell. His tour went through the 8 levels I believe of hell. He saw all kinds of grotesque things. After he woke from the dream I believe he repented. I've never read the book myself, but I hear it's good. I think it was written in the 1700's or so, I'm not sure.
mewtwo
Try 1300's.

So what happens to those of you who were stabbed or shot? Are you immortal in your dreams?

I remember one where I was this young woman in a stairwell and I stabbed myself in the chest. I remember distinctly the instant the blade pierced the epicardium. It was like, "What am I doing!? There is no turning back now." Then came the immediate shock and then the Cold.

I was depressed for days after that dream.

I had one where I was running thru the woods and something was after me. Then I heard a shot gun go off. A bullet hit a tree next to me, and I started running faster until I saw this fence. I went to jump over the fence and the gun went off again, and hit me in the back, I fell backwards. I laid on the ground-on my back, feeling my heartbeat and hearing loudly in my ears getting slower... then the shooter walked up to me-his shadow was on my face, and I saw him point the gun again toward my chest, the gun went off--. I remember feeling released, and thinking that this wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Oh ok. It was kinda like that but not exactly. The first dream I had, I just remember searching through this underground place lit up with fire. I was searching through different levels and rooms. The next dream, I remember being in an underground type place again but only for a minute then some guy dressed in an all-white robe with long white hair and a long white beard instructed me to go onto this weird spinning thing. When I did, it started spinning really fast and as I was spinning, I saw the face of the devil looking at me and laughing.

I used to have a disturbing recuring dream, some people would call it a nightmare but I enjoy nightmares lol maybe why I like horror movies.

I used to dream I was in my old school. It has 3 floors and I would climb the stairs to the 2nd floor. The door would be locked from the stairwel so I would climb to the 3rd floor. The door would also be locked. I would then look up and down the sides of the stairwell. The stairs now go up and down forever. So I run back down trying doors on each level. Eventualy one of the doors opens and I come out on a corridoor on what looks like the scond level (hard to tell as all 3 levels are identical). The elevator door is open with no elevator (this is just right of the entry to the stairwell coming out of the stairwell). (At this point the dream does vary and does not always go the same each time) I turn right and start walking down the corridor with classrooms on either side (corridoor is about 60m long to the left and 30m to the right) I notice there are people in some of the classrooms. I hear the door at the furthest end of the corridor slam open. I turn and see a figure in ornate black armour giving off smoke that drifts slowly down the corrdor hugging the floor. He has bright red eyes and is holding a sword in one hand. He starts walking slowly towards me. I try to get in a classroom but all the doors are locked and teh people are oblivious to my presence. When I realise confrontation is inevitable I notice that I have a Blue Shield (pale seethrough as if made of glass) a blue sword and blue armour. (this part varies as sometimes I only have a blue sword) I engage the black Knight and find that I can not defeat him no mater how hard I fight. My only option in the dream is to let him stab me. So I stop fighting and raise my arms palms upwards still holding my sword and shield. He then plunges his sword into the middle of my chest and I feel a sharp pain then I feel the sword slide through and exit my back. At that point I swing my sword and chop off his head. I fall backwards down the elevator shaft. (sometimes I wake up before I hit the bottom) I hit the bottom and my vision fades, usualy wake up at this point or slide into another dream of something else.

I dont get this dream anymore but it went on for a couple of years when I was about 18 years old. The pain seemed real but not as painful as it happening for real or so I would assume as I have never had anyone stab me with a sword for real.

Was reading this thread before I went to bed last night and, I don't know if it triggered this but I had a very violent dream in which I was injured in the one place no man wants to be! I remember feeling acute pain in the dream but that didn't stop the dream although it became less clear - perhaps I was focussed on my dream injury and not paying attention to the rest of the dream!

While I feel a bit uncomfortable upon recalling the dream (naturally enough) I have no lingering sensation of pain etc in my waking state (thank god!!!)

A lot of my most unpleasant dreams occur in a similar environment.

In a large building (such as those ridiculously large apartment complexes), the building is always abandoned and without electricity, and there are never any windows to the outside, so the floors seem to go on forever in a neverending maze of corridors.

What makes the dreams so scary is that there is something else in the building with me, and I can feel it looking for me.

Once I got into an elevator and it opened on the 4,623 floor, and when the doors opened I stepped into a 2m by 2m room. The doors of the elevator shut behind me and dissapeared into the wall. The walls were lined with decaying bodies which eerily turned and looked at me. This room was the culmination of all feelings of claustrophobia and necrophobia. That was one of the worth deaths I have ever experienced; being eaten alive by seven or eight zombified corpses in a room with no doors or windows.

Another time I wandered around running up and down staircases, winding through hallways and often reaching dead ends in some decaying closet. When I entered one room, I heard the sound of children crying in pain, then suddenly the door slammed behind me and I was left in the dark, only to be shot in the chest a second later.

At other times, I reach the top floor of the building, only to be killed by being pushed off the roof.

4+6+2+3=15

Don't know if that means anything. 15 is supposed to be a sacred number in that it is the link between man and god.

I've had pain in dreams but usually I wake up and am having the pain for real. Usually it is ulcers or I'm laying with my head turned funny and have neck pain or something silly like that. I wake up, move or chug some maalox and it's all better.

I've had many dreams about dying and posted about it awhile back. Most people's responses weren't so pleasant.

I've had several dreams where I saw death coming and had a wonderful peaceful feeling come over me. It's difficult to describe, but I guess the closest I can come is to say it's a feeling that I've done the best I could and now I can rest. A couple times I remember feeling a little bit of loss for those I'm leaving, but that's only if it's a drawn out process. Usually I'm trapped in rubble or something and see a wall about to collapse on to me, not much time to worry there. I can say it's actually made me feel more comfortable with my mortality even though it's just a dream, maybe there's hope I will feel that way when I die.

I've had a dream where I've been shot in the head, felt the pain, which was extreme and I've been lying on the ground unable to move, but still able to see and being aware that I will die. I have a lot of very violent dreams, though I'm not a violent person.
I have also had fatal illness and injuries in dreams, where I'm aware death is imminent. I have awoken from dreams also, still believing it's real.
I think these and many others mentioned here are caused by stress.

i had a dream not to long ago that my daughter and i drowned,
we were on a large yatch / cruiser type boat that had a beautifull deck, like floor boards in a house,we were standing at the back of the boat near the cabin wall when the boat started taking on water and began sinking very quickly,
the front went down first and we were flung in to the water,i can still feel hte absolute horror at seeing my little dauughter getting sucked down next to the boat, i cant even write down the feelings i felt properly, it was just unbearable i tried to save her but she was gone,
then i just let go, accepted that this was the end and the reliefe of accepting death was so calming, and i just let my self go down with her, i was compleatly peacefull.
i could feel the water in my lungs, my body shutting down, cells starved of oxygen dying off and that was the end,i was fine, i was going with my daughter, my only reason for being alive.

Always wondered if there is more to dreams than first appear.

Ive had a number were Ive been stabbed or shot. Felt the pain but woke up after a bit - some dreams where I fall from something but I wake before I hit whatever. The odd one where I do feel pain for a bit after waking up. Had a number of recurring dreams- as in maybe five times the same dream in 10 years or so, never wondered why. Had a number of lucid dreams - they're good, you can just morph everything around you, though some I can't do that - I was were I was, could talk with others but couldn't change anything. Don't think you should do anything 'wrong' in dreams - you never know if there could be more to them! Though once when I was going through a bad spell I had a pretty terrible situation were dreams became nested in dreams. ie my alarm went off and I jumped out of bed and went to the door to leave - as soon as I reached the door I found myself back in bed - it repeated and repeated, except that last time I left and at least I knew I was awake!! Or times when you fall asleep (day dreaming) but in the day dream your continuing what your doing - then you wake up, unaware that you've been sleeping - so all you see is everything in front of you suddenly change around and it takes a bit to realise you'd nodded off - during those few moments you're a bit freaked.

Wierd re-occuring dream. Every year the dream would get longer and better. It's about a fight. The first dream I had with this was a group of monsters was chasing me into the circleI had no weapon and died. The layout looked like some sort of egyptian symbol. It was a backwards "r" connected by a short line to a circle on the right of it. The circles was basically a weird tree, the "r" was mainly comprised of water and the little path form the circle to the "r" was made of green vines.
The Second dream happened exactly one year later(maybe off by a week or two) and no it wasn't the same, the location was the same. The only difference was a sword was place in the river. I took the sword and killed all the monsters. I am looking for answers to not only the event, but the layout as well. This isn't a usual thing to happen. Is it? Is The mind correcting itself?

One other dream happened in FOURTH grade! I saw this girl and thought she was hot. Unusual or what? I had a dream some odd time later that I was making out with her on the floor. Ever since then I was skeptical about girls and kept silent till now. Now I am 18 yrs old and about to graduate. I began to piece together the parts of me that were lost from that catastrophic dream. I am still piecing it together. (Gosh, soo many pieces).

The dream I had (or maybe it was real) before I was born involved me floating through space, capturing a glimpse of a nebula. Now I wonder, Am I a soul from another galaxy? I may be proof of life beyond our system. I woke up walking in a baby walker. Astonishing that my brain started recording at that age.
I also took a test on right-or-left thinker. It said I was using both sides. Another wierd thing to think about.

I had a dream where I was beheaded once, after having my head chopped off I was sort of standing there, disembodied, watching.

Regarding pain in dreams, I had one where someone stuck a syringe in my thigh, I felt that for days afterwards. wacko.gif
