Hey folks.

I haven't been to the boards in awhile, but I finally have some time to sit down and look over a few things since I've finished some travelling and writing.

The first thing I noticed is the amount of " bashing ", ignorance , and ridicule that has happened to these boards. Previously we always had members that would " poke " fun of other members, but this was generally done in small numbers. It seems on every post on here, the majority of responses are witted remarks made to ridicule the topic at hand. It takes a lot of confidence to tell a lot of the stories that are on these boards, especially this section of the forum. If people don't have anything to add to the post, besides demeaning comments, then why post ?. A lot of these people truly are looking for help and guidance. Sure a forum is not the most reliable section for information, however, in a lot of these cases, certain people have no one else to turn to with experiences that would have there own friends ridiculing them.

Although this is just a forum, but I would hope it would sustain a small bit of professionalism, where people can go to share there experiences, and perhaps find others with the same stories. Im not saying that every single story is 100% true. If you want to ask questions, present them in a respectable manner.

" So you woke up and saw a bright light, and an angel came before you ? ". Don't ridicule the person and suggest " Did your mom turn on your bedroom light, and have an angel costume on ? ". Suggest possible reasons, " are you sure you were not dreaming ?, what makes you think you were 100% awake ?, were you able to feel pain, or temperature ?"

I apologize if this seems like a rant to some, I just dislike going through posts, where 2 pages consist of members teaming up to destroy the original post. It pushes the person further away. Even if that person does suffer from a specific mental illness, all the negative information could push them further into that world, where not only can they not trust there friends and family, but not even an online community that is geared towards believing and or skeptically and intelligently proving to them that what they saw, and or heard is not real.

Lets all work together to help eachother in our experiences.

Thanks for reading, God Bless

huh.gif I'm not meaning to be a smart alec here but what threads are you reffering to ? It's just I haven't seen or been aware of any teaming up around here and I've been falsely accused of that before. I know it's not a nice thing to have to defend yourself against...

Ghosts, Hauntings & The Paranormal.
Lady_Anvilabeel
But which threads?
MoonPrincess
I haven't known you like the other members. ^^;; But I understand where you're coming from. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." But people are like that.

This is just a general request Anvil. Im not going to point fingers on a specific post/thread, it's more or less to make a conscious dis-cussion on the topic at hand instead of going off topic or pointing fun at other members.

MoonPrincess has the right idea.
Sweetpumper
They're like that because they have nothing to add but feel they have to say something - usually for attention - because it starts sh*t and the focus moves to them and what they've said...and those who do it will never admit it. And it's not just in the 'Ghosts' threads.
Lady_Anvilabeel
To be honest I think threads like this can cause trouble, people end up pointing fingers anyway when no one knows at who or what hmm.gif

Unfortunately things will never be as smooth as a lot of us would like in this or similar online communities. There will always be two types of annoying people on the net--asshats and perverts. There's no avoiding them if you're online. I just try to filter through the nonsense and bite my tongue lots.
The Silver Thong

Your right anvil, I have seen very little of the "Teaming" up on an individual. How ever if someone posts something completly outlandish the majority will probably disagree and this may seem like teaming up but it isn't. Sometime's it might seem as if the skeptics are teaming up but again with certin claims comes the burden of proof and that proof tends to be rare at best. I think the mod's keep it pretty civil here and so do some of the posters actualy.

Please remember that you always have the option to use the REPORT buttom on the bottom left of a text box to report a post that you find objectionable or in violation of the forum rules, so that the moderating team can take action on it. We try to monitor the board as much as we can, but we are limited in number, and we do have duties and responsibilities outside the site, so it is impossible for the hundreds of posts we get everyday to be individually monitored.
Barek Halfhand
is kinda funny -but part serious okay? just a little joke? not in a not in a mean spirited sort of way for those of us who just cant resist? as long as a related comment or addition is included?(somehow just knew I BETTER say that)

Not every thread is full of 'bashing and ridicule'; while we try our best to put a stop to rude and offensive behaviour, light hearted comments don't automatically constitute 'ridiculing' a topic, and can be quite welcome in a discussion so long as they aren't detrimental to the topic at hand or the people discussing it.

I don't really see any benefit to starting a thread stating that there are people here who bash or ridicule others, all forums have people doing things in them that they shouldn't be - that's unavoidable, but we do our best to minimize that here as much as possible. If you know of someone who is doing this then chances are they won't last long.

The best way to help us out is to report specific examples of offensive behaviour so we can do something about it, starting topics like this doesn't achieve anything.
