Poltergeists are spirits that were waiting for a certain maybe desperate thing to happen and the energy still exists in the area where they were waiting because it hasn't happened yet?

Because there is always one around when something happens.

Ok, I had to look up the definition of Poltergeist, as I wasn't sure exactly what they are supposed to do...
Here is what Wikipedia has to say about a :
PoltergeistSo poltergeists are "created" by teens (children too?) to make some noises and move stuff around for them because.... ?

I'm really interested in finding out more about this because when my Mom was really young (she has MANY stories) there was ALOT of strange things happening around her... which sounds like it was a poltergeist. Several adults witnessed some of these events as well as other children who were with her when such things like chairs moving on their own and scary unexplained noises were heard in the house. It always happend when my mom heard an old man's voice trying to give her a message.

Some believe poltergeists are caused by teenagers, as their own unresolved emotional issues somehow manifest in involuntary telekinetical actions.
But I don't know if ALL poltergeist cases involved teenagers.
Or, to put it in another way perhaps there are other entities that can also move objects etc. that were mistaken for poltergeists.

Last year I saw this French movie (based on true events) where a family of four- mother and three kids- lived in an apartment. The oldest daughter (15) was in a car accident and was slightly injured while her best friend who was the one driving intoxicated was killed in the accident. So, a few weeks after the daughter goes home from hospitial the family starts experiencing odd events. Bangings on the walls, furniture moving on its own, voices, physical attacks etc,. the mother called out the media and a paranormal crew to help solve this families crises.
In the end, after the episodes of this poltergeist worsened.... the 15 year old daughter attempts to commit suicide, and in her attempt she admitted that, in fact, SHE was the one driving the car the night her best friend was killed, & that she lied to police and everyone to avoid being in trouble and she couldn't take the guilt anymore.... the poltergiest occurances stopped.
