Hey all,
I am a christian, but I have never been taught what the official catholic description of God is. Therefore, I ask you: What is the official Catholic description of God?

i dont think there is an official defintion of God, but the Christian view i think goes something like this. God is the creator and judge of the universe, his forms are as the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, he is all powerful, all knowing, and all seeing, he gave humans souls so that we could be with him after death, or if we rebeled against him we can be sent to Hell. Dont know if thtas right as im not Christian, but it sounds about right.

That sounds about right to me. You see, I am slowly trying to understand what and who God is. I DO NOT agree with the Chruch's teachings about God. It just doesn;t seem right to me. There is something missing in their concoction!
I still believe in God and Jesus Christ, but not in the way "they" want me to.

ummm, isn't this something you should ask of your priest/preacher/pastor?

No, it's not. 1.) My priest barely speaks english, so it'll be hard for me to understand him. 2.) He'll most likely convict me of questioning my faith and call me a sinner. There is one priest that I would love to talk to. Maybe I will contact him sometime soon!

Then I would ask what you want help with, in our answering your question, but what "we" would want you to see, in our view of god!? I'm Atheist and yet I'll say that I don't think anyone else's viewpoint is relevant to what you feel you know as god. If that Priest you mentioned, did call you a sinner for asking him what the faiths opinion is on the matter, I'd say that pretty much tells you how arbitrary the answer can be. Depending on the ego that delivers it.
I'd say if You want the official view on god, look in the mirror. Creator! All the days of your life. Ever present, all knowing, all powerful and unipresent.(This life is all you know for a fact is yours to do what you will.) Give yourself the respect you'd give a god, because life is a religion. All those creeds are just accepting someone else's contract, to agree to be you , by their rules. That!Never works.

I believe that God works with us all one on one not in groups or in churches. I do not follow any denomination but does that make me less of a Christian? I think not. Most of the religious answers I have received are from personal experinces or my interpretations from scripture, not from what I have been told by someone else. Ask and the Lord and he will give you these answers. How you see him is all that matters. A true experince in this will be very uplifting and spiritual, not confusing or doubtful. The true defenition of a Christian is a follower of Christ and his teachings. Anything else in my opinion is superficial.

I believe in one God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of the Father.
And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead; of His kingdom there shall be no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of life, Who proceedeth from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spake by the prophets.
In one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church; I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins; I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.
Not the RCC version, if that is what you wanted, but that is a good place to start.
