There sure are a lot of global warming threads going on at the moment, so I thought I would add another.

I am interested to know what you believe the future holds for Earth (and possibly human's technological advances). We hear a lot of information such as sea level to rise 80m, Artic ice free by 2040 etc....

This is purely an opinion from myself and one that I can not back-up, but will happily listen to faults. Also interested in your opinions.

World temperatures are generally rising. There are cold spells etc..., but even in these situations the snow cover does not last a great duration.
CO2 IS going to continue rising as a percentage of the atmosphere. Industry is not going to stop. People are not going to stop driving, and should we be able to reduce this then the Amazon rain forest is still going to shrink whether through fires or logging.

Good chance that methane will be emitted from peat bogs in Siberia, and good chance that all glaciers/ ice caps will at times be non-existant.

Yes a global even such as super-volcano will make all this pale into insignificance, but this is not what the thread is intended.

So what will the future be for Earth IMO? With manufactoring/ industry and population coastal I would expect the majority of this to be wiped out. Yes industry would be able to move inland, but the cost would pull the world into recession. Either way CO2 emissions would reduce significantly. Presures placed on the population would include loss of electricity at peak times, if not outright, loss of communication and limits on food. Aid going to disaster areas would not be as easy as currently.

Really trying to avoid the NWO ideas and campaigners with this.

The nett result for me would be that reduced production of CO2, and a healing process for Earth's eco-systems and such to begin. I would not even wish to hazard a guess at how long it would take to repair, but humans being the resourceful adapting people we are would adapt. The World around us would slowly recover to what we experience today, and then what we read about in history.

As I say. This is an opinion of what may happen, so sit tight, move inland and start growing yuor own food...., oh and make sure you buy a boat wink2.gif

My beleif is that the Earth is changing. Some people
say in 50 years 1000 countries will be under 60 ft
of water. I try not to believe them, because 50 years
ago people thought in the year 2000 there would be
flying cars and no trees left. But the Earth is changing
like it has been changing for billions of years. So,
while we see some animals disapear; others will
adapter and move on. As some people try to
inhibit such changes; others acept it. I am
not a doomsayer nor an environmentalist.
I beleive we as a human race may have exceled
some of these changes, but even if it takes
millions years the earth will level it's self out

The melting of the polar ice caps will cause more of a wobble to our earth in its spinning. The earth will break apart because there will be no axis. That is what is going to happpen and there is no stopping it! The cold spells that happen are just outer space invading our atmosphere because of the breakdown of the ozone layer. Realize that outer space is about -(negative) 500 degrees farenheit. You want cold? Ask the mammoth elephants that were found frozen standing upright in the North Pole with the contents of their stomachs still undigested. That is cold.
