The other day I was offing some old clothes into a green recycle bin. A green van pulled up and a 400 pound 'woman' started yelling at me. I turned down the Metallica and asked her what her problem was, and she told me "Gaia would not approve of the clothes I was offering". I proceeded to laugh at the obese woman and that made her very angry. I asked her what would make Gaia happy, I figured this was just a recycle bin. She took an old hat out of the bin that was tattered and had an NRA logo on it. She told me that Gaia does not approve of the killing of animals. So I asked her why they did not put a list of do's and don'ts on the stupid box. She unloaded the bin and put the collected stuff into her van and opened the driver door to get in. Two big mac container fell out and I asked her if Gaia would approve of her snarfing down hamburgers at such an alarming rate. She called me a few choice names and actually threw a brochure at me as she drove off. I did not know Gaia endorsed littering either. So I called the toll free number and got a recording.
Just wondering if these green boxes are anywhere else other than my nutty state of California? Does anyone know if this Gaia thing is for real or are they just making money by recycling? I mean if I were going to make an offer to some goddess it definitely would not be Gaia.

Not familiar with the concept of 'gaia boxes', but in my area we have clothing drop boxes (yellow or orange) where you can drop off clothing.
But, I wouldn't put "ragged, tattered" clothing in it.

why can't earth lovers eat burgers? Cows are genetic freaks produced by man for food, they never existed in the wild, eating cows is better than eating Gaia's creatures I guess. Then again a lot of land is cleared for cattle farms and what not. Sort of a losing battle. Just my opinion but you shouldnt donate ragged articles to charity, thats like giving a half eaten pizza to a food drive.

why can't earth lovers eat burgers?
I was talking about the idiotic militant type of Earth lover, such as the one mentioned in the original post. You know...those who believe in "Do as I say,not as I do".Complete hypocrites. If the one mentioned in the original post was truly an Earth lover...she wouldn't have allowed the containers from her burgers to fall out of her van (littering),nor would she have griped about the "N.R.A." cap.Too,she would not have been eating burgers from a fast food place. That stuff is very unhealthy, and most fast food is not very eco-friendly.
Those who are true Earth lovers realize that the best thing we can all do is to learn about conservation methods and apply them as much as possible. This includes methods to help cull the herds of such creatures as deer, bear and others. If we didn't do this, things could get quite disastrous...not only for the animals, but for humans as well. The key is for humans to learn how to live *with* Nature...not against it.There has to be a balance.
Unfortunately, groups like P.E.T.A. have become a bunch of militant idiots who do not realize that setting free caged animals can have disastrous effects for both animal and human.Sorry...but many of these people should be tossed into a pit of ravenous lions...since many are pretty much useless except when they're used as a bad example...or when they are used as food for carnivorous animals.

I agree and what gets me is that they do not think. They must view the animal kingdom through Walt Disney's eyes. They are all cute and cuddly and have names and can talk. These imbicile's released Mountain Lion's into the lower Sierra's without Fish and Game knowledge. One Lion needs 250 square miles of habitat to survive. They over-crowded the habitats because they failed to do their research and the lion's came down from the mountains and got real chummy with some bikers. PETA and now these Gaia's have pushed me over the brink. I do not mean to push the "fat" issue but darn near everyone of these types I have seen look like they are the ones responsible for the rain forest disapearing because they are eating it.

They never think. That's what makes them all dangerous in the long run...unless we find a way to get rid of them.
I can completely understand making sure that animals in the film & entertainment industry are taken care of and not made to do anything dangerous.I can also understand making sure that no testing is done on animals for stupid human stuff (lipstick,perfumes,shampoos...etc.),since I believe that if something is being tested for use by a human...it should be tested on a human.I can also see going after those humans who mistreat animals that are considered as pets.
But letting mountain lions or minks out into the wild is just absolute idiocy...especially when you haven't taken into account the effect it may have on the other wildlife in the area...or the impact it can have on the local human populations.
Now we have this Gaia group which sounds more like a pure scam..and it has at least one idiot involved in it.People really are quite gullible these days.
And humans like to think they're the highest form of intelligence on this planet.
With those who are militant Earth lovers like those in P.E.T.A.,Gaia and a few other groups...it's easy to see that many humans aren't really all that smart.

It's sad to see a lot of the former *good* groups turning into *bad* groups. The N.R.A. used to be a large group of dedicated hunters who advocated not only gun safety...but also conservation methods that would ensure the survival of different species and habitats. Now they are mainly seen as a bunch of gun-toting lunatics who only care about being able to own and shoot military assault weapons at defenseless animals. The Sierra Club still has a chance to go back to being a good group.Their problem is in deciding which priorities they need to be looking at.If they can work on their priorities, they can still do a lot of good.Greenpeace, from what I have heard over the years, has turned into a bit of a militant organization. Some of their "non-violent" methods need to be examined, because it's very possible that they could inadvertantly do damage to the very environments that they are attempting to protect. Then there's P.E.T.A.,which has too many idiots involved in it.This group disgusts me to no end. They are a bunch of rabid lunatics. If they weren't so rabid or militant...and would actually learn a bit about the animals which they are supposedly attempting to protect, they might just see that there are better ways than what they have been using that could accomplish the same goals.But...they need to stop being so rabid about people wearing furs and leather.Sorry...but if it wasn't for the leather and fur...their ancestors might never have survived to spawn a family line.

My very first job here in WA was with the Sierra Club. It lasted all of two days. We had to walk all over areas getting people to sign up for the club, a subscription, and sign a petition to stop loggers cut old growth areas.
They gave me an area that was full of closed in appartments that got me chaced out of becase there was a no solicitiing rule. *snickers* And some people even got down right hostile about being asked to protect forests. After getting maybe two signatures for the petition and no subscriptions... they said I wasn't cut out for the job, cut me a check, and showed me the door.

we use to have the worlds greatest fishing grounds . I did my share too i was a trawler captain at 18 maybe the youngest one ever accept my brother . We use to load in just a few tows . I remember onetime loading in 3 ten minute tows and the last tow we needed a bag or 5000 lb to fill the hole . i just set out and hauled back and had 40,000 lb . had to dump 35,000 as boats deck was in the water . They should never of allowed trawling . man we had the fish here in eastern Canada .
What happened to them is the Most shocking thing . Alot was discarded at sea . Millions of Lbs was . What a Sin was was forced to Commit .All so a few could Own the Fish while still swiming .

That is a sensible figure of speech given the context. I salute you in your fishing and Captaincy. When I watch the discovery channel and see those guys in Alaska, I had it EASY in the USN on submarines. It was divine providence I went to subs because I get seasick and once you submerge it is smooth sailing. California fishing sucks as does the hunting. I am moving in a few years to ARK so at least I can get a few years of good hunting before they screw that state up too.

I am glad that you saw how wasteful trawling is firsthand, but why shift the responsibility to others? You CHOSE to become a fisherman, now you must bear some of the responsibility for the rape of the ocean.

And I did reject it in later life ,bought a bottom longliner but in a trawler dominated ocean you don't stand much of a chance .

50 years ? ya right 5-10 im hopeing .
I should of knew Better hosea 4 :3 Isaiah 19: 8 really tells it . verses 11-14 tell us why .verse 12 sounds like me setting on a fishing boat after it just discarded thousands of lbs of healthy cod of the stern because of a fool in a office that had only the goal of helping out a rich buddy and not conservation of our marine resources .
Isaiah 3 you know tells us how God will pour his wrath out on us . He takes our wise men ,our men of honour , our captains of 50 . In the final end Women will rule over us and cause us the err . Some that I use to Know to be real wise men I think always felt Hilary Clinton would see us to our fall .Some just had that feeling .
You know in Ezekiel 5 we are told how we fall plauges and famines are what is ahead of us . Watch out for diseases they are coming . And famines . Ive seen the total distruction of our ocean in about a 25 year perriod . Ive witnessed oceans full of fish becoming oceans with nothing but the bottom scavengers left (and for how long before the scavengers gone too) . I'm not that old and what changes i've seen .
I don't give it 50 years . Its almost gone now .I imagine the diseases are soon too be on their way . That haircut (ezekiel5)is comeing in the near future . Isaiah 3 is starting some of the rulings ive seen judges make in Canada would only be made by complete fools .
Canada stacked its high courts with left wing very liberal judges to get Gay marraige through not reliseing their other decisions would be just wrong , wrong .
On the news the other night I was so discusted . The Pinkerton trial in BC is going to cost canadian tax payers 100,000,000 dollars . What dam fools . The man had his freezer full of body parts . He admitted it . Geese a 1.00 bullet or a piece of rope would get rid of that problem . 100,000,000 on a freak of soceity like that ,what is this country coming too .All for the Money .
