wtfisthat
Hello everyone... well im new to this website and i have something really weird for yall..This December in Mexico it was like 20minutes till 3am and i was outside with my 4 cousins and my younger brother around a fire keeping ourselves warm..We were just talking about the good times we were having in Mexico. Then we started hearing dogs crying, barking and the cows started making weird noises to. We didnt really worry about it but then from the Llano(i dont know the english word for it) 2 red balls came out from the side of a hill. My cousin said "nah there tractors" i told why would there be tractors at 2am over there. Then we rembered that my aunt told me not to go there at night cause of supposly Brujas(witches) came out I started laughing when she told me that cause it sounded stupid to me. Well yeah then my lil brother says what if there Brujas(witches) and we all stoped talking then my cousin said what if they see the fire. And we all took off running inside the house cause we saw one of the redballs getting closer. We got inside and closed the aluminum door with a big window. We were like wtf was that and then all of sudden someone or something was trying to open the door violently but there was nobody there. My lil brother went to my moms room and told her. My mom came out and the door was still trying to get open. Then my mom walked towards the door and it went away. I was sh**ting bricks..Then we went outside with my parents and the 2 red balls were still floating in the air. Next day we went to see what they were i was expecting some towers but there was nothing. We went back home and later on in the sameday we went back and there was this black doll standing up. I never went back to that hill cause im 2 afraid. We saw many red balls in those 2 weeks in Mexico they would move back and forth and back and forth it was crazy.. I also a UFO oh and one night outside i was closing the gate and someone was saying my name close to my ear (BUT I WAS BY MYSELF!!) it sounded like a girls voice..I dont know if yall are going to believe me cause it sounds stupid but man i take it serious now.

Welcome to the forum, sounds like you had a rather interresting time there, but first you're talking about witches? then you say you saw an ufo and then back to the witches. Could you describe the ufo? and maybe you should check around in the area asking old people about the local myths/legends, they might know something
kiddglock
Maybe you best listen to your aunt the next time she tells you not to go out at night on accounta the Brujas. Sorry to hear of your encounter with the unknown. Sounds scary. All y'all able to own guns down there in Mexico? You hadn't had any cheap Tequila that night had you?
Violet_Blue
I've heard many stories from friends who have either lived or visited Mexico about these Brujas and they really creep me out! They are believed to be women who practice some sort of black magic who also use these voodoo type dolls. Maybe that's what you saw? blink.gif They supposedly fly through the air as lights, red orbs, and sometimes seen as very large black birds. If you are outside and hear something whistling in the treetops? It's the brujas! time to run back inside! the dogs will be going mad by now barking or crying and trying to hide in fear. no.gif

I had never heard about skinwalkers (learned about them here) but some stories I was told about what these women looked like, sounded like skinwalkers to me! unsure.gif They are often confused with animals, until people get closer and realize they look strange and are something else, like a half human half creature type thing.

Scary stuff! Glad it didn't open the doors and get you... hmmm I wonder what it was going to do once it opened them? dontgetit.gif
wtfisthat
Yeah they are there red balls or there big black birds called LECHUSAS..Im going again this summer 2 mexico and im taking my video camera so i can get them in action..About the ufo that i saw it was oval shaped and it had them lil lights around it blinking well yeah..But im more interested in them BRUJAS.. oh and about me drinking tequila I dont drink im 17 I know what i saw and if yall dont believe me is up 2 yall.. I wonder what would of happen if it did come inside..DAMN i think i would of fainted..lol but yeah is crazy over there.

Witches? Like that thing that attacked the police officer that looked kinda like the flatwoods monster apparently? I know of those flying entities that have been sighted in Mexico numerous times.

I didnt see it do when it was trying to open the door we just say that red ball in the sky and it was getting closer so we decided to run inside but we didnt see what was trying to open it. But i guess there the same thing then. My aunt told us to stay away from the Llano at night but since our house we stay at is really close to the Llano we cant. My aunt told me that they do attack... when i was over there 3 guys crashed and 2 died and 1 survived. The guy that survived said that something jumped on top of the hood of the truck and they got off the road and crashed into a ditch. My cousin told me that once one of them Lechusas(a witch) picked up a big turkey and flew away with it on to a tree. They shot the Lechusa but it would move from tree to tree.

Eerie ... be interesting for you to gather more information, stories and sightings from the locals, research the area and the history.

One story I heard, happened in some small town by the mountains in Mexico...

Late one night, a family trying to sleep were kept up by what sounded like sharp whistles and birds angrily squawking and making a racket. The women in the house wouldn't let the dad go outside because they were terrified and sure it was witches. Having had enough of the noise he went outside with a shotgun to scare the birds away... well he found two very large birdlike creatures (never seen before there) sitting high up on some nearby tree. He fired several times towards the tops of the tree and finally saw them fall down through the branches and walked back indoors... nothing else was heard that night.

The next morning, the family was awakend when they heard screams and comotion outside... they went out to find neighbors and people gathering to see something on the ground under the big tree. They found the dead bodies of two very old women lying there naked with pieces of leaves and branches about them as if they had fallen out of the tree. ohmy.gif Other people had seen and heard the birds that previous night and most assumed these were the "brujas" that had been shot down.

*

wtfisthat, I didn't know what these birds were called, but after searching for "lechuzas"... I found this link to another story:

Lechuzas or Brujas (witches)

Oh so creepy, I had a hard time believing that story about the old women, when I first heard it... but I guess it's been heard of in other places. These black birds are shot down only turn back into old ladies, people consider witches. I guess we can find them in Texas too!! no.gif

wtfisthat
Yeah i think there the samething cause there said to be in the body of a big black lechuza. I heard a story smilar to the one u said about a lechuza being shot and turning into a old women to over there were im from in Mexico. The story gos like this..There was a guy in the farm lands really early(even before the sun came out) getting the soil ready to grow the crops. And the guy suddenly felt chills and he looked up and there was one of them lechuzas circleing him so he took out his gun and shot it. The big bird fell to the ground and when he got there the bird turn into an old lady..but she didnt die he took her to a nearby clinic. The old lady was so embarassed that she wouldnt even come out her house no more only at nights when she would turn into one of them big black birds until she died. But yeah i think that there is witches and they do scare me but im also curious thats why i want to get a video of them..

Hi wtfisthat, and Welcome to the forum:

When you saw the black doll, did it look like it could be a voodoo doll? I mean was it a regular doll or did it look strange?

I don't blame you; I wouldn't want to go back to that location, especially if my grandma had warned me. ohmy.gif

It was all black about 8 to 12 inches in height.. I dont think it was a regular doll cause somebody had to put it right there cause we went first and there was nothing there then we went again later on and it was just there standing there and it was on the hill were we saw the brujas come out from. We were going to get it but we thinked about it and we just left and i didnt go back again.

Brujas means Bruxas and in english is Witches.

I will only believe if I see a good video, and not those ones who ends in the best part of the recording.

Wow! Creepy! Yeah, does sound like a voodoo doll to me. Is it possible to ask your grandma for more information about the Brujas? I'd like to learn more about it.

Interesting story. I guess I'm not that surprised if there are similarities. The Spanish called the Apache version of a skinwalker "bruja" so there must be some similarities. Also considering that trade existed from the SW into Mexico, some cultural diffusion could've occurred as well. I watched that you tube clip and the drawing was kind of interesting. The red eyes caught my attention because that is rather similar. Skinwalkers don't fly, at least not around here they don't. They don't impersonate birds and they certainly don't reveal their faces like in that drawing. That's a pretty big divergence from the Mexican lechuza/bruja. The film was interesting but it's hard to say what it was. It looked like something flying in the air but it was too out of focus to be certain.

Endymion
All videos are always out of focus, this will gonna be like the chupacabras, hummm where and when I have heard of chupacabras?? some years ago in Mexico, now what happened to chupacabras?? no one talks about it no one investigates no one record it as a pro??

Battleangel, do you know if the Apache skinwalker will turn into owls? I had a friend in highschool, who is part Apache and I remember her telling me about some sort of witch who either turned into an owl or had something to do with owls... I didn't realize this before, but the Lechuza witch is actually a very large black Owl. unsure.gif "Lechuza" means Owl in case anyone else didn't catch this before, I was thinking of big black Raven type birds (I've heard of those before) but I guess it's an owl these witches turn into most often.

Not that my husband has heard of. He was pretty adamant in saying that bird types just don't occur in the SW. Maybe further south though. Owls are associated with death for the Navajo and it's pretty much the same for the Apache. The Apache also make a stronger connection between owls and witchcraft than the Navajo. Whether or not the owl acts as a courier or is a witch varies.

Frankly, a skinwalker could feasibly pick any animal to impersonate that they want. The one that I saw looked like a smallish cat simply by using the darkness to its advantage. They're tricksters and much of what they wear is costume. People have seen oddities like ones that are mimicking donkeys. It could just be a cultural thing that they don't do birds. Disguising one's identity is of the most importance because being identified while skinwalking equals death. So, you're not going to find somebody running around in something like the lechuza or a small "mask" that would be all they could use from a bird. You'll see them, instead, covered in pastes with their faces either partially or entirely covered. A bird costume wouldn't permit that kind of coverage.

The fact that lechuza means owl is pretty interesting. Owl seems to have a bad rap all the way down into Mexico. original.gif

A lechuza is this :

Yeah, it's interesting to look at that owl. I'm smiling to myself because many people who have seen a skinwalker's "face" will describe it as being covered with a white paste with black around the eye area. Of course, it's not applied smoothly and makes their faces look like they are melting but the similarity to that owl's face with its dark eyes and white face is kind of interesting. Could be coincidental but interesting. original.gif

There are many very interesting looking owls... I have to agree though that if one of those creepy looking ones was watching me through the trees in the dark and I was suddenly startled by it's eerie calls, I might just be a little scared. crying.gif

I think something about it's face and eyes resemble a human face, very interesting to look at...

(lots of pictures here and you can listen to their calls too!)

wtfisthat,

Do you know if they are always seen as Owls (Lechuzas) or do they sometimes appear as big Black Birds? I asked a friend who has a lot of good stories about these witches and says they are usually black, sometimes seen with fireballs by their feet. blink.gif

Hmm, let me see if I can find out how you turn into one! LOL (yep I like to do research about the paranormal! LOL) yes.gif

OK they appear as Lechuzas or blackbirds with fireballs..I dont know if there by their feet but they do have fireballs.. I also know that they have the face of person. Because when i seen them they were far away and they were redballs i didnt see it close up cause when it started getting closer we ran inside.. But when we saw them they were redballs but from what my aunt and grandma told me they were bigblack birds or lechuzas.

Do they have this in english?

Also, was that the witch that was flying in the air?
*-Aldy-*
Hmm this really intrigues me. My friend who was from Guanajuato, also told me very similar stories about brujas, turning into lechusas, as well as many people in her family witnessing these witches. She even mentioned her sister seeing tiny witches,...I don't know about that.

She also told me her grandfather once shot one of these lechusas, and that there too a woman they knew appeared dead. I do believe the woman that was found dead (who had a reputation for being a witch) had in interest in her grandfather, and had been bothering his wife (her grama), for some time. So one night, they heard the the lechusa, and he went out and shot it, and the next morning there was the woman dead.

Isn't it weird how so many people witness the same thing, over and over again? I mean we are all skeptic, but there has to be some truth behind all this, no?

A rough translation on the "witch" video, for none spanish speakers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oVPWvKmkXI

The man you see speaking there:

He's a cop, his name is Gerardo Garza, and he's describing what he witnessed in a cementery in Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon.

"Height, hmm a meter, a meter and half tops.
Dressed as a bird, with feathers,...wearing feathers.
I was looking at it's face, wrinkled, just like an old lady,...it was an old lady.
Red eyes, black hair, what I did see was the black nails, and the hair.
What impacted me was how could it be a birds body, and with a human face".

The other video you see afterwards, was given to them by a "specialist" Thomas Amador, who's part of Ovni Club. It's a video of a strange creature flying through the hills of las Mistras??, in Monterrey.

Remarks by the broadcasters: "[That with out a doubt the video seems to portray, the aspect of a classical witch flying on a broom.] They comment on how [it's very strange, and that evidently this was not made using a computer, that you can verify the time, since you see clock on the camera keeps running. It's a video without alterations, yet you can't really see what it is. Happend May 17, 2006 at night time]"

PS. There is a another video on this same guy giving another interview to the news. It gives a few more info, on this one. He says he saw a farmer, one who lives behind the cementary, with an ax. He asked him what was going on, and the farmer told him about a lechusa/witch that he had spotted that night. Then that like at 11:00 pm the cop heard a lot of whistling, and went over to investigate etc...LOL.

I'll translate if someone really wants to know what he says, other wise I'm too lazy LOL.

Same guy.
