The wall behind my computer often makes a loud cracking noise for no reason. Could this be some sort of entity? There's no logical explanation for it!

It is probably just the natural expansion and contraction of the wood as the house warms and cools. Every house I have lived in has had Creeks and moans. From new houses to old houses.

He speaks truth there. My room, or den or nest or whatever you want to call it, is entirely out of wood, and it cracks and whatnot, because of the heat - cold. Perfectly normal.

If it's a support wall, the sound would indicate shifting or settling of the foundation.

That too wink2.gif I wouldn't worry about it unless the wall starts talking to you!

I doubt that it is anything supernatural. You should get it checked out though. If you are being accurate in your description of the sound, yes, old houses settle and make many noises. None of them that I'm aware of make cracking sounds unless there is something bad wrong with them. If it is a load-bearing wall, it could be indicative of its starting to give out.

Yeah it's not made of wood and it's on the ground floor of a four story building. YOu think maybe it's starting to give way?

How old is the building. It very well could be giving way, and if it were, a cracking sound might be the last thing you hear.

I'm not the one to say, but Aztec could be correct. I've been in a lot of old buildings, some of which were beginning to give way or already had in places. In my experience they just don't "crack" unless there is some damage being done. This is as opposed to normal settling, etc. If this has happened much, I'd want to get it checked out, were it me.

Hey randem!
All above Ii agree with but one added thought; the extra heat and EMF related to "that" computer wall will make it seem like a "HEAVY cracker"........b

they're coming to take me away- ha ha

Ahh now that reminds me of about five years ago. I started to hear loud cracks, at first I ignored it, but as the days went by, and the cracks became Bangs and got louder I began to take notice - was it an entity or were the foundations going? What finally made me investigate thoroughly what when I awoke one night to hear two large bangs rather like gunshots in the hallway just outside my bedroom, I awoke with a start and screamed.

It turned out it was where a water pipe underneath one of the floorboards was slowly dripping water onto an electricity cable - how we never had a fire or the electricity short out was beyond me, so in a way maybe there was some sort of devine intervention there.

What I am saying is this, thoroughly investigate all possible physical reasons first, especially if there is an electricity cable running down the wall just behind your computer, does the wall back onto a bathroom or kitchen for instance.
