ok I am using a streaming recorder to record some video on my pc. but the problem i am facing now is that when I play the recorded video the audio seems to be coming before the video..

This didn't happen before but for the past 3 days its been going like this and I can't seem to fix it other then using a video editing software..

Is there any alternative solution for this problem..???

please help

thanks..

That's probably the most common problem with video recording software out there. If it just started happening, I'd start by doing a scan for malware, it's possible you're getting performance issues that are slowing down the system and causing the timing lag. Ad-aware personal and Spybot S&D are good free ones you can download and scan with, I'd do both and do a scan for viruses just in case. If that doesn't solve the problem, please post the software you are using as well as your system specs - RAM, Processor speed, & hard drive space.

Well I have Norton 2007 activated 24/7 and it scans the pc itself all the time. So far no spyware or malware found on my pc.

I am using Zd soft video recorder and using it for quite a while now..Only solution i came up with is uninstalling it and deleting all the files/folder going to regedit...Then I install it back again and solves the problem for temporarily but not permanently..

I am using Windows XP Pentium[R] 4 Cpu 2.93 Ghz 504 MB RAM and 160 GB Hard Drive.

Thanks

I can't find squat for troubleshooting ZD soft video recorder, but assuming it's the standard performance issue that many video recording software programs have, there are a few things you can try.

The first I already mentioned, scan. I'd scan for malware (adware and spyware) with the programs I mentioned anyway. Norton doesn't catch everything, with the endless malware programs out there and new versions popping up every day, nothing catches everything.

Background processes also cut into performance. All the little extras that sit in the background, tray icons, close everything. You have 512mb of ram. XP takes a minimum of 128, but runs best with at least 256. Add to that all of the non-essentials and that doesn't leave a lot of juice left over for your video recording software to do it's work.

Defrag. After a time, bits and bytes get jumbled all over a drive. Defragmenting the drive puts them closer together for a faster seek time.

Increase the size of your virtual paging file. Windows uses your hard drive as RAM, and generally sets the amount to be used to a low number. With larger drives (with plenty of free space) you can safely add to this size and potentially improve performance. Try several tests with your video recording software and see if increasing it helps, if not go back and reset it to system managed size. (with slower drives, increasing paging file size often isn't much help) Find this setting in control panel, system, advanced tab, performance, advanced, virtual memory, click "change" then "custom size". Start by adding a few thousand to the initial #.

A last resort? Add more RAM. It's an easy do it yourself install, not too expensive, and saves a lot of hair pulling if you don't want to deal with the previous steps on a regular basis.
