One night when I was 17 my best friend was sitting on the couch in my living room. The couch faces the hallway, about 2feet of the hall can be seen from there and the rest is hidden behind a wall. My grandmothers bedroom door opens into the left end of the hall but her door cannot be seen from the living room either, her room is behind the wall where the tv is. Anyway sorry if that is confusing. I left my friend on the couch in the living room where we were talking, the tv wasnt on, to ask my grandmother a question in her room. I stood inside her doorway and got the strangest feeling something was standing right next to me so i flung her door shut and ran over to her bed and told her I had a feeling something was right next to me. She just laughed and I left her room. I left her room to go back to the living room to see my friend looking at me strangely with mouth kinda hung open as if in shock and she said "I just saw you walk past down the hallway, you flipped your hair with your hand like you always do"
It happened the same time I felt something next to me since I was only in my grandmothers room about a minute.
What do you think this was? We were the only three in the house. I do not have any sisters.
The feeling was so strong that someting was next to me it scared the crap out of me, and the feeling went away as soon as I shut the door.

Hmmmmm ... a Doppelganger?
The word means, "double-goer" in German. It is defined as, "A supposed likeness or double of a living person."
This phenomena has been reported for centuries. Often, it entails a person being seen a great distance from where the actual person is. Most accounts are of "Sam" seeing "Bob" in one city, then later learning that "Bob" was hundreds of miles away that day. Typically, "Bob" will just be walking down the street, unaware of being seen by "Sam."
Do a search for the word Doppelganger and you'll find plenty of information. Let us know what you find.

I think your freind saw you flip your hair on the way to grandmas room.
Your friend didn't hear you fling the door shut ?
I think your grandma is a smart lady.
Just my opinion and nothing more.

well going in to my grandmothers room she would have seen the back of me, then turning left into the room. going down the hall from her room is completely diffrent, i would have been walking past her so she would have seen me from the side... and walking to the right side
she probly heard the door if it made much noies, the house was pretty quiet. i just pushed the door closed i didnt force it shut or slam it so i dont think it shut all the way. I dont know what your getting at though.
im not trying to get at anything either just replying. the scene of me going into the room and down the hall and even back to the living room would have diffrent/

No. Its been a few years but i can still remember it well. I get that feeling once in a while though like something is very close. Its the only thing that happens that scares me really. Just happens once in a while for no reason that I can think of. Usually when I am alone though. A few times at night I will feel something and I will tell my husband and he says he feels the same. Then he tells ME to turn on a light or the tv...

This is the only time someone has said they saw me. I know she really thought she saw me, the look on her face told me. Its the first thing that was said when i came out of the room. Maybe she was imagining things but it's just a strange coincidence isnt it?

Seems you might have something following you around, it don't seem to be harmful but it must want you to do something if you keep getting that feeling.
Ann
That is disturbing. Though, if nothing else has happened since, I wouldn't worry about it. Your husband might be nervous because you are. You can try and get a blessing or pray and clean the house.

The only times I ever experienced something like this was when we had a nasty "thing" in our house. A few times I was surprised to see my relatives in rooms when I thought I just saw them someplace else. Also, I could never tell if the house was empty, since it always felt like there was someone there. I would come back from school and do endless rounds around the house because it felt like there was someone there, even when I was alone. The weirdest thing was that even when I saw a certain someone walking to one room, in my head I felt as if he was in another room as well.

I don't miss those times, let me tell you.

Yeah thats a pretty standard doppleganger account. Historically it is an omen but that hasn't really been the case in most modern reports I have heard.

Ok I reada little about doppleganger. I did not like it. tongue.gif It happend too long ago to be an omen of an unfortunate event though so I'm not worried about that. I wonder if they have any other meaning. If it was me she saw why would I be walking out of a room I was in? Just something for me to think about. Thank you for your opinions original.gif

I would be creeped out too, A doppleganger? My double?
Dagaz
Wow that's certainly creepy. I don't think it's a bad omen in your case though, but I wondered if you perhaps were suppose to be a twin? Did you ever hear anything from your mom in regards to that? Just wondering. unsure.gif
Zombie Boy
i had a similar experience, and everybody stated the doppleganger theory. so i have to say its a doppleganger
angrdrgz
No I do not talk to my mom very often. Twins are in the family though. My grandmother has twin brothers, my sister has twin girls and I have twin boy & girl. Thats a creepy thought but kind of nice too.
Lady_Anvilabeel
Were you a twin?

Pehaps your grandmother just assumed it was you at the time because that would be the most logical thing to think hmm.gif
Dagaz
Wow, how strange. Well, anywho, I had heard somewhere that twins are so close that they remain together even beyond death and birth, sort of your other half, which would make sense, if you had a twin and perhaps the twin didn't develop correctly in the womb. Sometimes women don't even realize that they had a miscarriage, if it's early in the pregnancy....who knows. It just popped into my mind while reading your story. Maybe it's your twin watching over you, being with you all the time, and sometimes she comes through strong enough to be seen by others...

Then again, I could be wrong. It's just a thought yes.gif

I was thinking the same thing. Anybody read Stephen Kings The dark half? He was bad though.
