First off, I loved this show, I have the "Ghosts", "UFOs", "Murders" and "Legends" sets and have seen many more. So to anyone else who enjoyed this show, my question for you is: What segments scared you the most?

For me it was usually the UFO or ghost ones, although there was one episode in particular that really did. The one that scared me the most was entitled "Missing Time" on the DVD and is an older one, late eighties I think. The segment deals with two cases of missing time centered around UFO sightings. The first was an African-American Airman in the US Air Force in the late sixties and another was about two teenaged girls in the early seventies. Something about the stories these people had, coupled with the reenactments and Robert Stack's narraration terrified me when I was little. The first time I saw it was back in 1993, I was nine or ten and begged my mom to let me stay up and watch it when I saw the preview. Against her better judgment she let me and I don't think I slept at all that night. I kept imagining my closet door opening and seeing a little green man in there.

^^ They aren't green, they're gray.

I know what you mean though. I watched this show religiously and mostly the same episodes really scared me. Any with ghosts or UFO's freaked me out too.

No, I know what a grey is. In this episode though, they were portrayed as having a green glow.

My favorites were the UFO and Ghost stories, but to be honest, these didn't really scare me; I don't think they were intended to, being meant for general prime time audience. Some of the ones on "That's Incredible..." did give me the willies, but I was younger then.

I can understand if some people aren't scared the way I was. I think it had something to do with the fact, that their production budget was sometimes low, so they had almost no special effects at times. That provided an extra bit of realism. I remember one, about a family living in a house who were attacked by spirits. One scene shows two girls sleeping in their room and their uncle sleeping on the floor beside them, because they were afraid to sleep alone. He is woken up and stares at something near the ceiling, and screams bloody murder. You're never shown what he saw, just that it scared him.

God Jack - Knife, that sounds terrifying..like one of those "what you don't see" horror movies.
I think that I am going to have nightmares now...

There was a murder that occured not too far from where I lived when I was younger. I lived in Northern Ontario at the time and murders weren't all that common. But this one made it on to Unsolved Mysteries. It happened in the late 80's early 90's I believe. A husband and wife were murdered in a park in Blind River, Ontario while they were in their motor home. This went unsolved for a few years, eventually ending with the killer being caught.
I found this scary because I was living 45 minutes from where this murder occurred and there was a killer running loose.

Oh, so THAT'S what you're talking about. And to think I might have gone my whole life never knowing what humor is.

I've watched almost every segment, between the originals which I used to watch at Mom and Dad's before and right after I got married and when they came out with it about ten years ago and showed re-runs on one of the cable networks...maybe Sci-Fi. It was one of my favorite shows. It RAWKED when the producers were savvy enough to replace Stack with stacked...oops, I mean Virginia Masden.

The show that really sticks out in my mind was about the disappearance of a guy in the far southeastern corner of Arizona on Halloween. The only trace of him they could ever find was some note or something with a piece of doggeral ending in "Halloween".

I actually liked the show better when it was just Robert Stack. But by then he was getting older so I can understand why they got another host. I remember the one you're talking about, that one was creepy.

The segment is entitled "Tallman's Ghost" and is on the "Ghosts" DVD set. I just watched it again, and noticed something about the music played at one point during the segment, it sounded like a creppy version of the Christmas carol "Silent Night". It's heard also during the "Allegash Abductions" segment on the "UFOs" set. Did anybody else ever notice this?

Well the boxed sets left off many good segments. There was a best UM DVD that included 14 more segments. The Georgia Rudolph segment was scary. There is a segment called Creepy Arsonist that scarred me when I was 15. The show also had two narrarators before Stack. There was Raymond Burr and Karl Malden. The Unabomber was featured on special#3 and was very graphic for it's time. The show has been taking off lifetime and now on lifetime real women.
